The Babies Are Here

A dear, dear friend of mine recently became a new grandmother, welcoming 2 very healthy twin baby girls.

She will be receiving this card any day now.

And this card will go in the box with the 2 baby blankets I crocheted for the little ones.

I used a paper pack called Little Treasures from Kaisercraft.  The flowers on the first card and hot air balloon bunnies and small sentiment on the second card were included in the pack.

Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge #555

Welcome!
The calendar says it is Tuesday, which means it is time for a new challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Tuesday Morning Sketches
Thanks for a great sketch, Melissa.

When I made my card for this week's sketch, I sort of went at it backwards.
I saw all those strips on the sketch in various shades and wasn't sure how I was going to accomplish that.  Using a SU die, I cut 4 scalloped strips from white glitter paper.  That was the easy part.
A note about the glitter paper: It is printable glitter paper from WalMart and is fantastic!  Doesn't get glitter in your printer.  Great for printing digital images or stamping them and it colors nicely. Look in the office supply aisle. It's available in some colors too.
With a blue promarker and a ruler, I colored the first strip once, the second one twice, the third one three times, and the fourth one four times, making each strip a darker shade of blue.  Then I also cut 4 1/4" strips and colored those in much the same manner until I got the desired shades I wanted.  That was going to work, just fine.  But, now what?
The first sheet of patterned paper I found in my box of partial sheets was this pretty baby boy paper.  And then a certain stamp popped into my mind and the card started to take shape.

The Doodle Baby Carriage  by Sweet Stamps was a purchase I made at my very first stamp show over 10 years ago.  The fact that I could find it now, in my much larger stash, is a bit miraculous.
I stamped it in a blue ink that matched, rounded the corners, then mounted it on a square of the white glitter paperafter giving it a blue edge with the same blue promarker I had used before and popped it onto the card front.  I made another blue frame around a piece of white cs just a bit smaller than the card front, in order to make the patterned paper stand out more and unify the whole design.  Adding a few stickers, here and there, completed the card.   Except, it had no sentiment.
I found a set of small sentiment stamps by Taylored Expressions, held my breath, and added CONGRATS to the card.
Now if the new baby my granddaughter is expecting is a boy, I'll be ready.  Too soon to tell.

Hope you'll play along with us this week
at  Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Please visit again and stay safe!

Double Trouble Challenge #46

One of my good friends is going to have a wonderful new year.
She's going to be a grandmother for the first time!
It's too early to know if the baby is a boy or girl, so I made a gate fold card and to cover both genders.

Something, Anything, and Everything. With options of using something new (the heart embossing folder), or making your project about something new (new grandma) to make Twisted Sister happy.  I've also linked up with one of Double Trouble partners, The Crafter's Cafe.

HB GG and Aunt Eileen

About a month ago I posted a baby card I made using a drawing by my BFF's granddaughter, Layla.  I made two more birthday cards using her drawings, one for her great grandmother...
(card front featuring a Layla's drawing of the cat sleeping on the arm of GG's sofa)

(inside of card)

and also one for her Aunt Eileen ...

(This drawing is of Aunt Eileen's new puppy.)

(inside)
Layla's brother has the next birthday.  I can't wait to see what she draws for on his card.  Last year it was a big hippopotamus!
This is really easy to do with any drawing.
Scan the image.  Save it.
I open the image in my Paint program,
resize it and print it just like a digi.

Speaking of hippos,
here is the baby card I made for Eileen's new little boy.
The stamps are from CTMH.

Challenges
Dragonfly Dreams Challenge - Patterned Paper
Crafty Animals Challenge #6 - Anything Goes
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Pop It Up (I used foam tape to pop the hippo's head.)

That's it for now.
I have a couple new badges I'm anxious to add to my blog.
Enjoy your day and thanks for your visit!

Sweet Baby Card

This post was almost finished last evening, but I was just too tired to finish it.  After a good night's sleep, a rare occurence in my world, I'm ready to share it with you. Not only that, but I've made 2 cards this morning that I'll share in separate posts, to make up for not blogging the last few days.

This adorable Doodle Baby Carriage stamp

from Sweet Stamps caught my eye at a stamping show.   I walked the whole show mentally trying to talk myself out of buying it.
 But, I bought it anyway.
There are times when you just can't listen to that stupid, reasonable, party pooper voice in your head and you have to do what makes you happy!

And making this gate fold card with belly band made me happy, too.

Here  are the 4 cards we made at Joyce's:
(We all did our own thing with this 2nd double skirt fold card;
