Lots and Lots of Ice Cream Cones

Thought I'd try making a Window Pop-Up Birthday card,  using directions from the Secrets to Stamping blog.

In the process, I ended up making lots and lots of ice cream cones!

I found a great piece of ice cream cone paper in my stash which I wanted to use for the card.  I also planned to use the Sunny Studio Two Scoops stamp set.  My problem came when I tried to match the colors in the dp.  The cone was created using 2 stamps, one for shape and a second for shading details.  You would not believe how many combinations of ink I tried.  There were ice cream cones everywhere.  I finally decided on one that I sort of liked and added it to this card.

The inside sentiment can be seen through the front window and, when the card is opened, it pops up rather than just being stamped on the card base.

Double Trouble Challenge #87 - Guest Designer

Once again I have the pleasure of joining the group at Double Trouble Challenge as a Guest Designer for Challenge #87.  The theme for this challenge is "It's Hip to Be a Square".

This Challenge runs from
Monday,  June21st thru Sunday, July 4th

Here are the fun details:

Thing 1:  Trouble Maker
says, "Twisted Sister has often referred to me as being  square and I tell her 'It's Hip to Be a Square'.  She tells me it's better to be a circle because it's cool and groovy.  We are asking you to use squares or circles or combination of both and let us know whether you are square, groovy, or both.

Talking about squares and circles, our partner for this challenge has a great sketch you may want to use for your squares, or modify by using a mix of squares and circles as long as the basic sketch is visible in your project.  You may also feel free to change the orientation of the sketch... rotate the sketch or use its mirror image.

You can stop here...
OR
play along with Twisted Sister's optional twist below to earn another chance at our random draw.

Thing 3:  Twisted Sister
says, "Trouble Maker, since you're ummm, Boss, you need to know I have been spinning in circles looking for an optional twist.  Oh, wait, there it is! Ummm, Boss... Emboss.  Let's include ummm-bossing on our project.

It's hot and dry here in Arizona... So if you want to Beat the Heat use Dry Embossing; or if you want to Beat the Cold use Heat Embossing; or use both... it's your choice.

This is an OPTIONAL TWIST but you will be awarded an additional chance in Double Trouble's random draw if you include this twist in your project.

Thing 2:  Double Dare
says, "If you have used Try Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch #512 you are eligible to enter your project even if you have or have not used our optional twist to include embossing.  Click HERE to enter.

Please note that Try Stampin' on Tuesday starts on Tuesday, June 21st... so, if you post your project at Double Trouble on Monday, June 20th, you are still eligible to enter your project.  They have permitted us to backlink for that Monday only... so be sure to visit us again on Tuesday so you can post your card to TSOT using the link provided above.

Well, are you square or groovy or both?
(Make sure you add which one you are to your post!)

I'm feeling a bit on the square side these days, although I do seem to be running in circles a good bit of the time.  So, I guess I'm both.
Here's my contribution for this challenge:

card front
inside

The dragonfly and sentiment stamps are from Stampin' Up, all heat embossed with SNS Limelight EP.  The inside flowers and leaves are Spellbinders dies.  The small one was the perfect size to emboss with the same ef to match the front.

Does anyone else have a Cuttlebug all-in-one embossing folder and die?  Mine has got to be 10 years old and I've never seen another anywhere.
When I saw the Try Stamping on Tuesday sketch,
I knew I'd be using it!

It certainly was fun joining the Double Trouble Challenge family this month!  Thanks for inviting this Crazy Cousin!

Tuesday Morning Sketches on Sunday

 Tuesday Morning Sketches

As a member of the Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge Design Team, Sundays I always set aside some time to write comments to those who have entered the current week's challenge.

There have been weeks when there were so many entries I thought I'd never finish.  But, that's not the case lately.  When I checked the challenge blog less than an hour ago, there were only 7 wonderful entries.  I'll be finished writing comments in no time.  This week's sketch was easy and fun.  And the challenge stays open for another 7 hours, plenty of time to enter a card in the challenge.

Here's a birthday card I whipped up this morning in 15 minutes using the current sketch.

I'm so used to making kid oriented cards for SAS4K that I forgot I needed 5 adult cards this week.  The stamp is from Stampin Up; circle dies are from Sizzix, and pretty floral dies are from Impression Obsession. (I cut those out of glitter paper.  It was the first time I used the dies and they worked wonderfully, as IO dies usually do.)   I added the bling and a bow and it's ready to go.

Hope we'll see a few more entries.

Our next weekly sketch challenge starts on Tuesday.

Thanks, Debi B

Finally Finished unless....

....I decide to add a few fish to the third panel.

I've been working on this card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #511 and Creative Creases Challenge #9.

This piece of  patterned paper, which I found in a bag of scraps, was perfect for the TSOT beach theme.  Then I was gifted a die set to make the twist and pop card.  The biggest problem I had was finding this stamp set.  I looked high and low for it.  It was in the bottom of my box of Valentine stuff.  That's a head scratcher, for sure.

What do you think?  Do I add a few fish?

BTW, I was following this sketch from TSOT:

The big save!

Last week my 10 year old grand niece was here visiting.  She loved all the crafty things I have.  Who knew a 10 year old could move so fast?  She would get one thing out and before I could explain how it was used she had something else.  It was more than frustrating! especially with her mother close by but not saying a word.

When her mother said it was time to clean up, she collected the things she had made and wanted to keep and everything else went in my little trash container.

After she left, I salvaged quite a few items from the trash container that were perfectly usable.   There were several embossed paper pieces with circles punched out of them that she hurriedly discarded.  And that is how this get well card began.

Those tiny flower die cuts are by Spellbinders-

a new purchase that I just love!

White on White Thank You Card

Isn't it amazing how many shades of white there are?

It is those slight differences that make a white on white card wonderful.  Then add different textures and you have a lovely card.

For this card I followed the White on White Technique and the Sketch at Try Stamping on Tuesday Challenge #510.

 Enjoy your day!

Fun Folds Revisited

Creative Creases Challenge is having an extravaganza.

For this challenge you are permitted to enter a fun fold card or project from the past.  I just scrolled through over 200 posts on my blog labeled Special Folds.  I think this may be my favorite fun fold card, a double diamond fold card from 2015.

 The original post is here.

Iris folding has always been a favorite of mine.

The origami wreath is one of my favorite fun fold projects.

But the Origami Christmas Tree is what first caught my eye and introduced me to this hobby which I truly enjoy.
