Shaker Card

This was my morning quick make before I headed out to do some garden work.
It was relatively quick because I just used odds and ends laying on my work table.  The only thing I got out of a drawer was the flocking I used for snow inside the shaker.  I had colored this enthusiastic hound a while ago and thought he'd be perfect for a shaker card, which is the option for the current Anything Goes Challenge at Scrapbook Blessings Club Challenge # 32.  I think it took me longer to figure out where I got this digi ( Shoveling Snow from QKR Stampede) than it did to make the card.  I've been trying to write that info on the back of each digi after I print it, but missed this one.
I am also entering this card in these challenges:
Squigglefly Challenge #43 - Use a Frame

Now I must be off.
I wasted so much time investigating where I got the hound, the ham hock in the pot is ready for the beans.
And I told myself I was going to do some dusting and vacuuming today.

Apple Costume for Tuesday Throwdown DT

When little halloweeners live too far away to actually trick or treat at your house, it's still nice to send them a little card, like this one I made using  Apple Costume Digi Stamp by Chi Chi Memories Designs.

It is my DT contribution for this week's Tuesday Throwdown Dress Up Challenge #219.  Chi Chi Memories Designs, the sponsor of this week's challenge, offers many adorable images in their store, both individually and in sets, digital papers and a few freebies for you to try.  And they also have a monthly challenge for you to join.
http://www.chichimemories.com/
It is always fun to see what my teammates at Tuesday Throwdown create using the images provided to us by our sponsors.  I admit, I laughed out loud, when I saw the sentiment Nana Connie used with the same Apple Costume Digi.  My son and daughter both got detention in middle school for saying just that to each other within earshot of a teacher.

Today, I'll be submitting this card to these challenges:
2 Cute Ink Challenge #118 - Halloween Treats
Scrapbook Stamp Society Challenge #53 - Anything Goes + Halloween Option
Open Minded Crafting Challenge #22 - Halloween or Dressing Up
Craft for the Craic Challenge #9 - Something Suitable for a Child
Delightful Challenges - 3's not a crowd (3 apples & 3 stars)

Mason is going to be 3! + Mojo Monday

How can he be 3 already?

They grow up so fast!
I really should get this card in the mail quickly.
He could be turning 4 in the blink of an eye!

(I put this kangaroo on a spring.  Hope he doesn't drop the cake!)

(inside)
The sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #79  was perfect for this card.

And I pulled out the CTMH Stardust paper pack, which has nice boy colors.
Stamps, cricut cuts, sequins and sparkles are CTMH, too.

I'll be back later to finish this post and add my Mojo Monday Tall and Skinny Card.
****************

Well, I'm back and here is my T&S Card for Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge # 369.
I came across this cute paper (a freebie from a magazine) in my stash. The cute birdies with red hats reminded me that I have a Red Hat Society class to teach in November.  I found these hat stamps by Stampendous on ebay a while ago, so I thought I'd give them a try.  I tied those tiny bows using a kitchen fork.  Works like a charm.

This card is being entered in the following challenges:

Meet Tucker

When my grandsons were here last Saturday evening, Matthew spied this digi image on my craft table and wanted me to color it just like their dog, Tucker.  He was very specific about which parts were black and which were white.  The first time I met this adorably annoying canine, I didn't think he had eyes for all the black hair covering them.  He's not quite as annoying since I am now one of his 'people'.  But he did cure me of wanting to get a dog.

This cute digi pup is Halloween Rosey from Fred She Said.  The sentiment is a CTMH stamp.  The EF on the orange strip is one I bought at the show in York because I didn't have one with leaves for fall.  Then after I got home and organized my folders and die cuts in my new CTMH organizer, I found another EF with leaves which I used on the yellow scalloped oval die cut.  I distressed both with a combination of orange, green, black and brown inks.  And, once again, the purple card base looks more blue on my screen than  purple.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafting for the Craig October Challenge #9- Something Suitable for a Child
Crafts for Eternity Challenge - Halloween
Creative Corner Challenge - Halloween
Delicious Doodles Challenge - Halloween
Kitty Bee Aloha Friday Challenge #35 - Halloween
Digi Stamps 4 Joy Challenge #102 - Animals
The Paper Shelter Challenge #179 - Halloween
Scrappy Land Challenge #4 - Halloween (I've used a Spellbinder's die.)
Milk Coffee Challenge - Halloween
Cards in Envy Challenge - Any Witch Way You Can (I've used a witch's hat and broom.)
Cuttlebug Mania Challenge - Only When You Leaf
Shopping Our Stash Challenge - Halloween
Crafty Boots Challenge - Fall Leaves and Halloween

It's such a gorgeous day, after 2 rainy ones, I think I'll go out and play in my flower beds which are quickly becoming leaf beds.

Have a great day!

And
Happy 50th Birthday Kitty!

I so need a nap!

We were up and out early this morning because Mom needed to be at the Surgical Center at 6:30 am to get 2 pins put in her thumb to hold the bone (that she broken into 4 pieces) back together.  All went well and we were home around lunchtime.  Of course, terrible sleeper that I am, I've been awake since 3am.  So I really need a nap.  I feel as though I have been neglecting all my wonderful followers this past week.  My apologies.

I have been doing bits and pieces at my craft table when time allows, so before I catch a few zzz's I'll share a quick post with you.

Here's a card I made using a digi image from the Fun and Festive set that DeeDee's Digis is offering for free until 10/26.

I've followed the Celebrate theme at Send a Smile 4 Kids challenge and Sketch # 78 at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and am entering the card in both challenges.

Now, my recliner awaits!

Gerda Steiner October Challenge

Rainy Days is the free image Gerda sent out to participants in her September Challenge.  I think it's so cute.

The rain coat, rubbers and puddle have a good layer of liquid glass (CTMH) to make them look nice and shiny.  I printed, colored and popped a second umbrella for dimension.
Thanks, Gerda, for another great digi image.

I am submitting this card to the following challenges:

Masculine Birthday

Yesterday I actually had a few extra minutes and decided to draft the post for today.  And then my computer decided to do some editing and deleted the whole thing.  Don't you just love these machines?  So I begin again....

My brother's birthday is Wednesday.  I've used a freebie Pine Forest digi image from Beccy's Place to make him this card:
The papers, birthday stamp, frame stamp, colored wood trinkets, and ink are all CTMH products.

When we were kids, my dad planted 3 small pine trees in a triangle outside the back door.  At first we played "Jack be Nimble" and jumped the little trees.  As they and we grew, the trees became 1st, 2nd, and 3rd bases for our wiffle games.  One tree was lost in a storm a few years ago.  The two remaining trees are so huge they touch each other and have become wonderful bird sanctuaries.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Beccy's Place October Challenge - use any Beccy image
Crafty Catz Challenge #251 - Black + one other color (green)
Aud Sentiments Challenge #117 - Anything Goes with a Sentiment
Ruby's Rainbow Challenge # 90 - Use Freebies/Prizes  (The image is a freebie and I won the green CTMH paper in a raffle.)
Scrapper's Delights Challenge #33 - Anything Goes + Monochrome twist

Gift Bag using Atlantic Hearts Sketch # 77

This week I thought I'd use the Atlantic Hearts Sketch and adapt it for use on a Birthday Gift Bag.

The papers are CTMH Huntington, a great fall paper pack with nice warm colors, and the stamps are also CTMH.   The tag was cricut cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge.
My mother made this beautiful crocheted necklace for inside. (That was before she broke her thumb! Long story!)

I am entering the gift bag in the following challenges:
Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #77  (I've rotated the sketch 90 degrees.) *I've also missed the challenge deadline.  Oops!

All in good time.... + CTMH cards 10/14/14

After my busy weekend at the stamping show in York, I was too exhausted to get right to crafting first thing Monday morning.  Hence, I am bringing your my card for Mojo Monday a few days late.

The cute little penguins are from the freebie stamp set by Tiddly Inks that came with a recent issue of Quick Cards Magazine, as well as, the Merry Christmas embossing folder.  I picked up the paper over the weekend at the show from The Paper Cut.

This card has been entered in the following challenges:
Crafty Sentiments Designs Challenge - Things that start with "g" (green paper and buttons)
Mojo Monday Challenge #367 - sketch

Sentimental Sundays Challenge #228 - Buttons and a sentiment
Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge - Early Holiday Wishes 4 Kids

The 4th card was the Secret Message card that I posted here on my blog a bit ago and taught as a Make & Take at the show this week-end and again today to the gals at class.

Tuesday Throwdown Challenge

Oh my.  This should have posted hours ago but I forgot to hit the "Publish" button.  My apologies if you've been looking for my Tuesday Throwdown DT card.

The theme for Tueday Throwdown Challenge #217 is "Awareness" to coincide with October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  However, so many of us are touched by different cancers, diseases, and difficulties that the theme encompasses them all.
Our wonderful sponsor this week, Bugaboo Digi Stamps,
has such a variety of wonderful digi images that the Tuesday Throwdown Design Team has been able to give you a lot of inspiration.  Please check out their projects.  You will be amazed.
I've used a digi image called Block Sentiments-Hope

to make a more masculine card for three reasons.
  • Men can and do get breast cancer.
  • It isn't easy for the men in our lives to watch their gals go through cancer and other difficult treatments.
  • And, thirdly, John Wayne was my father's favorite actor.

This card is also entered in the following challenges:
Crafting from the Heart Challenge #40 - Always Anything Goes
Craft Your Passion Challenge #235 - Where There's Hope
Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #125 - It's Only Words
Word Art Wednesday Challenge #153 - Anything Goes

Digi Stamp 4 Joy Progressive Christmas Challenge

This month's digi image for the Digi Stamp 4 Joy Progressive Christmas Challenge was this beautiful sentiment.

I decided to keep it large and make it the main focus of the card front.  I used a small wood stamp and second generation stamping to add a nativity scene to the center.

Imagine That!

This card is for the Imagine That! October Progressive Challenge using the digital set called Let's Squash Cancer in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The set is adorable.  Thanks, Kris!  I kept the card pretty simply because I didn't want to detract from the DP I found in my stash.

Thank You From the Heart

This month's stamp set for the From the Heart Progressive Challenge is really sweet with the cats and little bird perched on the banner, or is that a bunting, whatever.
I've made this card for the following challenges:
From the Heart October Challenge
DRS Designs Thursday Challenge # 143 - I'm so Hungry
Aud Sentiments Challenge #117 - Anything Goes with a sentiment
Creative Knockouts Challenge #58 - Thankful

Tomorrow I am headed for York, PA for the Heirloom Productions Rubber Stamps and Paper Arts Festival where I'll be teaching Make & Takes at the CTMH booth, after I help build and stock it and before I help tear it back down.  It's kind of like a sandwich, the best part is in the middle.  Hope I see you there!

Our next show will be in Edison, NJ with the Stamp, Scrap, Art Tour, November 1st and 2nd.

What you see....

isn't always what you get.  That's definitely true when I'm taking the photo.  If I'm photographing people, they usually lose their heads in the photo.  A photo of headless people at Halloween could actually be a good thing, now that I think about it.

I've used a digi image from A Day for Daisies to make today's card, cute little cupcakes with spiders on top.  They have been colored with markers, sugared up around the edges with glitter, and the spiders have liquid pearl eyes.  But I am so disappointed in the photo because those cupcake papers are purple.  They match the purple strip across the card.  Why do they show up more blue in the photo?  Well, at least the spiders have their heads!
The frame and sentiment are CTMH stamps.

Speaking of heads.... I smacked my head so hard on a book shelf yesterday I saw stars!  It still hurts.  My dear mother saw me do it and she was amazed that I moved all the books on the shelf when I hit it.  I'm amazed there was no blood!
This card with purple cupcake papers is being entered in these challenges:
CCC Digi Creations Challenge #10 - Digi/Borders or Punches
Eureka Stamps Challenge #109 - Delightfully Frightful
Now I'm off to play pinochle this afternoon.

Wait, wait....  I finished the scarf for Sue.  (I posted her birthday card yesterday.)  It looks so warm and cuddly I may make myself one too! It's a simple circular scarf that you can just hang around your neck long or double for extra warmth and a shorter look.

Blue Birthday Card with a Bird

Alliteration - a succession of similar sounds;
One of the literary terms I learned in 8th grade.  We were all excited when we met our 8th grade English teacher.  She was a knock-out.  Gorgeous auburn hair (not from a bottle), that she always wore in a chic french twist.  She was fresh out of college.  But she was a tough cookie, which is why I still remember most of those literary terms and a lot more.  We all kind of scratched out heads when she started dating and eventually married one of the other teachers.  He was all but bald before he was 30!
Now, how did I get started on that?
Yes, my title.
Blue Birthday Card with a Bird
This is a special card for a woman with whom I used to work for her 80th birthday.  (We had a really great group of gals who worked well together at the law firm and have remained friends even after the firm dissolved.  Unfortunately, the attorneys didn't work together quite as well.)  The girls will be gathering for a birthday dinner in her honor tomorrow evening.  I am almost finished crocheting a scarf  to accompany this card.
I had the cricut machine buzzing this morning.  All the cuts were made using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge.  I've used an older CTMH stamp set and sheer ribbon in a quadruple bow and some of the new fundamental paper.

This card is headed for the following challenges:

Gotta fly now!

Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge + Create with TLC Image #10

This week's sketch at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #76 really made me think.  But after a bit I had an idea, and I think it turned out pretty well.
Here's the sketch:
I combined CTMH sentiment stamps and tiny ornament stamps, fitting them together on 1 acrylic block.  I stamped it a few times on one side of the white CS, used a dauber to distress the edges, and lightly sponged over the stamping.   Using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge, I cut the ornament, stamped it, then embossed it, before adding the bling and popping it onto the CS.  I used some silver twine for the ornament bow and hanger and some bling on the tiny ornaments.  I backed the white CS with blue, also distressed around the edges, before mounting it onto a white card.
Woot! Woot! Another Christmas Card completed!

This card is also entered in these challenges:

Card #10 for the Create with TLC Progressive Freebie Challenge

Both the image and sentiment are digis from Create with TLC.

Mojo Monday + Create with TLC Image #9

Create with TLC recently gave its followers the freebie digi image that I used for my Mojo Monday card today.
I didn't add a sentiment to the front of this one.  That way I can keep it in my stash and use it as a notecard or, by adding a sentiment, I can use it for a number of occasions.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Mojo Monday # 366 Contest

Eclectic Ellapu Challenge - Pink Team: Flowers
Fairytale Stamper Challenge #45 - Flowers & Ribbon
A Creative Romance Challenge - In the Garden

********
I've a second card to show you today.  It uses Image # 9 in the Create with TLC Progressive Freebie Challenge celebrating World Card Making Day.

I can't believe I actually paper pieced the little dresses, bows and table cloth.  And I also had to fussy cut the 2 tea cups on the table or they would have had gray checks.  It was such a challenge doing all the fussy cutting and gluing, and it isn't even noticeable.  I used the same papers to make the background, glued together and embossed.  The sentiment is from an HOP set.  The lace was a second hand store find.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Di's Digi Design Challenge - Girly
Crafty Calendar October Challenge - Bingo (Pink, Sentiment, Buttons)
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #297 - Embossing
Creative Knockouts Challenge #57 - Lace/Ribbon
Southern Girls Challenge - Girly/ Shabby Chic
