Candy Cane Christmas Cards

The letter for Day #3 of Beccy's Place November Challenge is

"C",  as in Candy Canes.

Beccy has a couple Candy Cane images in her store.  Today I'm using one from the Tied Up With String digital set.

The candy canes were colored with markers.  I also used two Circle die cuts by Sizzix and a Christmas sentiment.  Patterned papers are from CTMH.

Additional Challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - AG; Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Spots/Stripes; Just Add Ink Challenge #533 - Just add "S" (stamping, stripes, spots, something sweet, Sizzix dies); Creative Knockouts Challenge #378 - Christmas Delight; DL.ART Thankful Thursday Linky Challenge #26 - Red & Green; Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Eat, Drink, and Be Merry; Simon Says Monday Challenge - Food/Drink

Snowflakes are Unique

This card is for Day #24 of Beccy's Place November Challenge.

The letter of the day is "U".

The snowflakes are mostly from Stampin Up dies; Snowflake sentiment, also SU, is in slate rather than black because I thought black would be too harsh next to the soft colors of the card ; The Merry Christmas sentiment is by CTMH.

This annual challenge ends in just 3 days.  I know I won't get all the letters finished this year, but I did do quite a few.  Right now there are almost 950 entries.  It would be awesome if the final number is over 1,000!  And Beccy faithfully leaves a comment for each and every one!  Beccy, I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do!

My Favorite Things Challenges

Taking a break from making Christmas cards, today I worked on cards for the challenges at My Favorite Things.

First I made a Thank You card for their Sketch Challenge, using one if their stamp sets called Super Hero in Scrubs.

Papers are from Bo Bunny and heart dies from CTMH.

This is the sketch I was following.

My second card could be used for just about anything.

This time I was following the colors for the MFT Color Challenge #154

The background was made using a MFT Stencil called Radiating Rays.  The Heart Tree die cut is also from MFT and so is the sentiment.

Christmas Spirit

 Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Our turkey is in the oven.

I have a bit of down time right now and thought I'd add another card to the November Challenge at Beccy's Place.

I've always liked this digital image by Beccy.  It has a bit of country charm.  I paired it with a SU sentiment stamp.  The background was made with scraps of CTMH paper which I embossed after die cutting.

Challenges:

Beccy's Place November Challenge - Day 3 "C" (Candle);  Through the Craft Room Door week of Nov 24th - Always AG; Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - AG; The House That Stamps Built Challenge N2520 - AG; Krafty Chicks Challenge #535 - All Occasions; DL.Art Thankful Thursday Challenge #26 - Red and Green; Aud Sentiments Challenge #265 - AG + a sentiment

Floating Easel Card

After watching a video my friend, Karen, made for Stencil Sunday at Stamplorations Blog, I ordered some supplies to make the floating easel card.  But I couldn't wait until they arrived and did some improvising.  For a first attempt, I'm fairly pleased.

The Santa stamp was a freebie from Quick Cards magazine.  I used Staz-On ink to stamp the image on the front of the acetate and then colored it with markers on the back.  The die cut for Believe is from Sizzix.  Papers are by Bo Bunny.  Sentiment stamp, acetate (half of a clear card I purchased ages ago) and gold glitter tape are from CTMH.  The snowflakes on the front are Dazzles.  Looking at the photo, I may try (?) to move one so they don't appear to be in such a straight line.

Challenges:

Beccy's Place November Challenge - Day 7 "F" floating easel card; Shopping Our Stash Challenge #434 - Snow; The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #84 - Anything Christmas; Merry Little Christmas Challenge #84 - Anything Christmas; Allsorts Challenge Week 599 - Santa, Elves, Angels, option Christmas; Inkspirational Challenge #226 - Frame It;

...my true love gave to me, a partridge in a pear tree.

Santa cards

Here is a pair of cards using a cricut cut sentiment and its negative image.

The Santa in the first card is a Tim Holtz stamp from Stampers Anonymous.   The sentiment is a cut from the CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge.  It was cut from printable white glitter paper and then colored red with a marker.  Santa was stamped on the same paper and colored. The patterned papers are just scraps.

The Santa on the second card was a 3D sticker I salvaged from a card I received last year.   I placed some red paper underneath the white glitter paper from which the Ho Ho Ho above was cut and carefully glued in the centers of the o's and a few other pieces.  Cut once, use twice.  To this card I added some washi tape and a bow.

Challenges: Beccy's Place November Challenge - Day 18 Scraps; Sweet Stampers Challenge #50 - Christmas; Christmas 24 Challenge #022 - Santa; Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Happy Holidays; Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Card Creations; Through the Craft Room Door Challenge Week of Nov. 17th - AG; Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Christmas; C.R.A.F.T. MFT Wednesday Sketch

Most of my Christmas Cards are designed, pieces cut, and are waiting to be assembled.  Luckily I have a few extra supplies on my table to use on additional cards for my favorite challenges.  The Wednesday Sketch Challenge at My Favorite Things is one of those challenges.

Here is my card and this week's sketch:

Not wanting to cover up the pretty holly on the designer paper, I moved the vertical banner to the right hand side.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #581

 Tuesday Morning Sketches

Welcome to my blog, where I have
a new card
to share with you each week for

Here's the sketch for this week and my card.

I love this card.
In fact, I already cut pieces to make a few more.  The stamps are from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection.  I gave the branch under the bird just a touch of color and stamped and fussy cut a second bird to pop overtop of the first for a bit of dimension.  The Funky Christmas Tree die is from Whimsy Stamps.  Last year I bought a large book of 12x12 Christmas plaid paper on clearance after the holidays.  Plaids are so popular this year.  I'm so happy with that post holiday purchase!

I hope you'll play along at

MFT Challenges

Yesterday and today I made 2 cards for the current challenges at My Favorite Things.  Card making is a big stress reliever for me.  And I was definitely in need of some stress relief.  We just got a new laptop and I have been attempting to get it set up, install programs, and transfer data.  Next time, the store can do all that no matter what the cost.  It would definitely be worth it!

Today, I installed the printer and my camera software.  Everything was going pretty well until I tried to transfer the pictures from my camera.  That wasn't happening.  Plus the camera light came on but I couldn't get it to work.  I figured I fried it.  I spent over an hour looking in the online manual, switching cords, and waiting for online tech support to chat.  Finally, I called the support phone # and actually got a person.  She was so sweet, told me to try popping out the battery and then popping it back in the camera (an exercise I have done with uncooperative cell phones).   Worked like a charm!

I really didn't want to buy a new camera after just buying this laptop! And, I really didn't think I was going to be able to post these two cards today!

My first card is for the

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

The second card is for the

My Favorite Things Color Challenge #153.

The heart balloons are dies from MFT and that cute giraffe and sentiment are also from MFT.  It may look like I glued that top circle on crooked.  Not so.  I attached a spring underneath the circle so the giraffe would actually hop.  My niece is going to love this.

Cranberries or not?

My DH and I will be having a nice quiet Thanksgiving together this year.  Consequently, I don't plan to make as many dishes as I normally would when everyone is here.  One thing I won't be forgetting, though, is cranberry sauce

because....

The sentiment/image is a digi from TLC Creations.

Double Trouble Challenge #70 Week 2

The leaves are dropping one after another on this beautiful autumn day.  It's a great day for some outside chores.  But first I'd like to share a second card for the Double Trouble Challenge.  For this challenge they have partnered with Atlantic Heart Sketches, which provides a new sketch every week.

The background paper and black banner are embossed with a quilt pattern.  There is a bit of faux stitching around the inside of the die cut circle.  That should make Troublemaker Happy.  And I used the AHSC sketch to put a grin on Double Dare's face.  Twisted Sister, I really have nothing for you today.  Although, watching me make those tiny bows might have made you giggle.  Sorry!

Challenges:  Crafty Hazelnut's November Patterned Paper Challenge - AG; Merry Little Christmas November Challenge #28 - AG; Dream Valley Challenge #236 - Dies/Punches (The circle die is from SU and the holly and berry branch is from Sizzix.); Double Trouble Challenge #70 - see above;

and Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #394

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Just Add Ink

Today I'm sharing a Christmas card I made for the current Just Add Ink Challenge #530.  The theme is to use only stamps, ink and paper.

The Santa and sentiment are stamps by Tim Holtz.

The dotted ribbons and tiny snowflakes are CTMH stamps.

After I was 3/4 of the way done with this card, I realized I wouldn't have had to do all the masking and sponging, etc.  I could have used a variety of papers.  But, I didn't.  And, I hope that using a die cut as a mask won't disqualify my entry.  Don't you just want to smack yourself when you make life much more difficult than it has to be?

 Have a nice day!

Thanks for visiting!

Just a Spritz

Yesterday I was making some poinsettias for on Christmas cards.  I decided to give them a spritz of ink when they were all finished.  The question was, What color spritz?  I pulled out a piece of paper to see how Frost Shimmer Spritz would look on red.  It wasn't what I had in mind.  Then I tried some gold, was much happier, and sprayed the poinsettias.

This leads me to the card I am sharing today.  The red test paper from yesterday received a trip through my Cuttlebug with a holiday embossing folder.  It broke the surface a few places and the white paper core showed through.  A sponge dauber, black ink and some heavy distressing took care of that and really brought out the embossing pattern.  From that point, it only took a kraft card base, black mat, 3 layered gold die cut sentiment (once a gift box), Santa stamp by Tim Holtz colored and fussy cut, and a piece of ribbon to make this card.

The poinsettias?

I'll show you those another day.

Challenges:  Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday November Challenge - Christmas; The Paper Shelter Challenge #448 - Christmas; Sparkles Christmas Challenge #118 - Gold, Silver or Glitter (The sentiment is gold and there is gold in the ribbon); Always Fun Challenge #187- Use Kraft (cardbase); The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #82 - Anything Christmas Goes; Arty Divas Challenge #31 - AG;

Girls Play Video Games Too

Just a quick post to share a card I am entering in the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #514.

The sentiment is from MFT Level Up stamp set and the die cut game controller is also from MFT.  The little controller is so cute, but the larger one that comes with it is so much easier to put together.
I've used some pretty plaid paper from MFT, too.

A few more challenges I am entering:  Aud Sentiments Challenge #263 - AG with a sentiment; Fab n Funky Challenge #501 - Anything but Christmas; Allsorts Challenge week #596 - For Children or Teens;

Double Trouble Challenge #70

 It's getting chilly out there!

At my grandson's soccer game on Monday it was down right frigid!

Today's card reflects exactly how I feel about the coming season.

It is also my entry for Double Trouble Challenge #70.  I used a quilt embossing folder with faux stitching, the Atlantic Hearts Challenge Sketch, and the sentiment on the tag is my feeble attempt at humor.  Although, I find nothing humorous about freezing my toes off like I did on Monday!

These are the challenges I am entering today: Pammie's Inky Pinkies Challenge #2044 - AG; Use Your Stuff Challenge #409 - Stripes (on the washi tape); 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge #44 - AG with a critter; Crafty Animals Challenge #44 - AG with an animal; 613 Avenue Create November Challenge - AG with twist of cute critters; Dragonfly Dreams Challenge - Christmas/Winter; Double Trouble Challenge #70 - stitching;humorous;AHSC; Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #393 -

Tuesday Morning Sketches #579

 Tuesday Morning Sketches
Welcome to my blog, where I have
a new card
to share with you each week for

Here's the sketch for this week and my card.

I made this card with a little of this and a little of that.  The yellow check was a partial piece, missing a circle that I had cut for something else.  I covered up the hole with a simple paper doily, that you can find in the grocery store.  A friend gave me the pretty white die cut and I used a scrap of shimmery yellow underneath, cut by hand to the same size.  I cut a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" navy piece.  Then I cut a 1 1/2" piece off one side and embossed it before assembling the card front on a white card base.  The die cut sentiment was another scrap.

I am always running out of navy card stock.  It goes with so many colors!

I hope you'll play along at
this week.
