Tall & Skinny Envelope Card for Mojo Monday

Every so often Mojo Monday has a sketch that is tall and skinny.  Since neither one of those adjectives can be used to describe yours truly,  I have some difficulty wrapping my mojo around this concept.  Then again, if you turned the sketch on it's side, I suppose you could consider it short and chubby.  Now I can relate to that.
(CTMH sentiment stamp)

First I made the mojo card loosely according to the sketch:

But instead of putting it on a card base, I decided to use it as the insert for an envelope card.
So here is the envelope:

And this is what the finished project looks like:
The insert card measures 3.5 x 5.5 and with the envelope it measures 3.75 x 5.5 and still fits in an A2 envelope.

I will be entering this in the following challenges:
Craft Your Passion Challenge #207 - Shaped Cards or anything but Square
Fitztown Challenge #29 - Fancy Folds

I just realized I did not emboss any part of this card.  That is so not like me.  I told you the skinny and tall thing was affecting my mojo!  Is affecting correct or should it be effecting?  I think affecting is correct.  Mickey, some help here?

Hope you'll be back tomorrow to see my Tuesday Throwdown Design Team card.  It is a normal A2 card, not skinny, not tall.

Deedee's March Digi

Did I ever tell you about the time we kept finding duck eggs in our yard, each unbroken but with 2 holes in it?

That's what this digi image from Deedee's Digi's reminds me of.  It's part of this month's featured set called Unexpected.  Everyone who played in the February Challenge got this set for free.  And by entering this in the March Challenge, I'll receive the April  featured set for free.  It's a progressive challenge and it's fun to see what everyone else makes with the same images.  (Deedee also has some freebies available for you to try.)

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

Crafting When We Can Challenge #66 - For a Child
Open Minded Crafting Challenge #7 - Animal Antics
Brown Sugar Challenge #87 - Easter

Going back to the duck eggs I mentioned earlier,  our cat emptied a nest of wild duck eggs that was across the street by the neighbor's pool.  He very carefully carried them back to our house, only making 2 puncture holes with his teeth.  It was one of the stranger gifts he brought home to us.

No Baseball Today

My grandson was supposed to have his first baseball game this morning, but it is raining and is predicted to do so through today and tomorrow, possibly ending as sleet.  It's March.  Enough lion! Just where is that little lamb?
In lieu of going to a game, I did a little playing at home instead.  A Creative Need supplied a free cupcake digi image this month and the clock is ticking to enter their ACN March Challenge #17- blue, yellow and pink.
Here is the photo inspiration which they provided.
 Blue Yellow Pink Inspiration photo
My daughter will be celebrating a birthday soon.  So this one's for Kristi and ACN.

I will also be submitting this card to these fun challenges:
DRS Designs Challenge # 115 - Leftover's Again?   (I hope these leftovers aren't from my daughter's birthday card last year!)
Paper Crafting Journey Challenge - Anything Goes
A Song in Your He{ART} Challenge #3 - Celebration

Have a nice day.
I hope it's sunny where you are.

Come to think of it, I still have my March card for Deedee's Digi's to do.
Perhaps there is a silver lining in this rain after all.

Another Fancy Fold

Here's a birthday card I made for one of the gals at card class.

Sentiment is a CTMH stamp that I actually cut in half so I could stack the 2 words instead of stamping them next to each other.   Scalloped oval die cut is Spellbinders.  Stacked flowers and butterfly are CTMH, distressed with Blush  and Creme Brulee inks.  The liquid pearls are buttercup and petal pink.  Ribbon is Offray.  Black and white pearls are from my stash.  Flower center is a K&C company stiicker.  The beautiful paper was a freebie from a magazine. And the butterfly's glittery wings are compliments of CTMH glitter gel.

If anyone knows the name of this fold, please let me know what it is.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
A Creative Romance Challenge - Spring Flowers
The Alphabet Challenge - D is for Die Cuts
Delicious Doodles Challenge #81 - Mother's Day or for a Special Female
Totally Papercrafts Challenge #212 - Think Pink
Creative Moments Challenge #39 - Anything Goes/Things with wings
Ruby's Rainbow Challenge #75 - Happy Birthday
Scrapbook Stamp Society Challenge #37 - Anything Goes + option-use a butterfly
Love to Create Challenge #108 - Bingo (pink, diecut, ribbon)
Scrap it Girl March Challenge - Birthday

Well, it's back to working on income taxes since it's raining and DH and I can't take our daily walk.

I Moose show you ..... and CTMH card in a box workshop 3/25/14

this get well card I made for my niece, who simply loves moose (and purple).  Of course, ever since she's made this known we inundate her with moose gifts.  At 34 she's just had some nasty back surgery and will be moosing about 6 weeks of work while she recuperates. But what she's moosing most is being able to pick up her 2 year old.  Please add her to your prayers.  It's going to be a long 6 weeks for her.

I decided to just put a personal get well sentiment inside the card.  The stamp is by Darcie, butterfly from Eyelet Outlet, doilies (white with green dots and purple) made using a Spellbinder's die, embossing with a Cuttlebug Anna Griffin folder, antlers and hoofs paper-pieced, remainder of image colored with markers, ribbon and papers from my stash.  I followed the sketch from Whimsie Doodles which appeared on the Paper Playful post Saturday 3/22.  However, it turns out that sketch was for their January challenge which is over.  Fortunately, the current challenge at Whimsie Doodles is Seeing Spots and I can still enter this card in their challenge.

I am putting this card in the mailbox and also these fun challenges:
Creative Card Crew Challenge #58 - Animals
Cuttin and Stampin Challenge 14-12 - Paper Piecing
Cuttlebug Mania Challenge - Dotty
Through the Craft Room Door Challenge March 25-31 - Always Anything Goes
Scrapbook Stamp Society Challenge #37 - Anything Goes; option- use a butterfly
Creative Corner Challenge - A Little Texture
Simply Create Too Challenge #57 - Animals
Red Rubber Designs Inspirational #112 - Color in the Lines

If you recall, last week I mentioned that Joyce showed us 2 samples of cards in a box when we had CTMH class last week.  These cards are really hot right now.  It seems there is one submitted to every challenge I enter.   This week at Joyce's we got to make our own using some of the new CTMH papers.  Two of the gals made birthday boxes, one made a get well box, and three of us made baby boxes.  All the boxes looked different when finished since CTMH DP is all double sided and we could choose what we wanted where.
Here's my version:

Picking up pieces

Recognize anything?
A week or so ago I made several cards using these papers.  I took the scraps and made this background paper.   If you look closely, you can just barely see the embossing I did using my Cuttlebug and a cuttlebug embossing folder.

And here's the finished card......

Inside

There's no stamping on this card.  I wrote the sentiment and computer printed it.  The grunge flower was made with circles punched from the scraps, too.

I thought I'd enter this card in the following challenges:
Clear It Out Colour Challenge - Theme: Greens  Stash Item: Anything Green
Cuttlebug Mania Challenge - Going Dotty  (I've used dotty paper.)
UnstampaBelles Challenge #33 - Geometric shapes (squares, rectangles, triangles, circles)
DL.ART Thankful Thursday Challenge #128 - Use an uplifting sentiment

Monday, Monday

Why is that old song (I'm dating myself) by The Mamas and The Papas running through my head this morning?
I guess because it's Monday.
And Mondays I head straight for my craft table to make a card for Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge.
Yesterday I colored a cute image to make a get well card for my niece in anticipation of using it with today's sketch.  But I just didn't think it would work, so I went to Plan B -  the cute egg pot digi image from Pattie's Creations I printed before turning in last night.
I had picked up 2 sheets of double sided Easter DP (I was so proud of myself that I only bought 2.) when shopping a few weeks ago.  One sheet was the Easter eggs you see above.  The other sheet was the green dots and a striped pattern with various designs in each row on the reverse.  I used two of those rows to make the banners.

I placed scalloped strips on the inside of the card for some color. Then I cut just 1/8" off the right front of the card so a thin edge of the inside blue with doodles, which is on the reverse of the egg pattern, shows.

I am entering this card in:
Pattie's Creations Design Challenge  #88 - Anything Goes
Cards in Envy Challenge - Any A2 Card Goes
Come and Get It Challenge - Easter/Spring

Cards Galore Encore Challenge - Use a stamp or digi
Creatalicious Challenge #61 - Easter Wonderland
Digi Galore Challenge - Anything Goes
Fairies Challenge #22 - Easter
Oddball Art Stamps First Challenge - Use a Digi
and last but not least
Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge # 338

Have a great day!

Glitter + Bling for Mom

This was a fairly simple card to make.  I used a pink card base, then a white embossed layer, then glittered designer paper - all with rounded corners.  I die cut a Spellbinder's beaded circle out of more glittered DP and added some bling.  On a smaller die cut beaded circle of pink CS I stamped the circle and sentiment (both CTMH) and popped it onto the card.

I am entering it in these challenges:
Dream Valley Challenge #78 - Mothering Sunday
One Stitch at a Time Challenge #205 - For a Woman in Your Life
Sentimental Sundays Challenge #199 - Flowery Springtime
That Craft Place Challenge - Flowers/Mother's Day
Crafty Catz Challenge # 223 - Bling It Up
Cut It Up Challenge - Anything Goes
Stamping with the Dragon Challenge - Bling It Up

Look what I found, Eileen!

When we were at the stamping show last Saturday, Eileen saw a card with a bird's nest that she just adored.
But you know how it is, you just can't buy everything.  Then this week when I was looking through my Close to My Heart stamps, I found a bird's nest.  It's an old retired set called Harmony.  The sentiment is also CTMH, from Sympathy Card Chatter.  I used some DP that came free with my Cardmaking and Papercrafts magazine this month.  It's embossed with a SU folder.  And I used a MS border punch.  Quick, easy, versatile.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:
Less is More Week 164 - Three (eggs in the nest)
Cards in Envy - Anything Goes with an A2 card
Crafty Bloggers Network March Challenge - Nature
Love to Create Challenge #107 - CAS
The Shabby Tea Room Challenge Week #210 - Anything Goes

Note to Eileen:  I'll bring the stamp set to class on Tuesday so you may borrow it.

Card in a Box

When I was at Joyce's on Tuesday, she showed us 2 really cute examples of Cards in a Box.  Of course, I had to come home and figure out how she had made it.  I don't even know if I'll send this to anyone, it's so darn cute.  It measures standard A2 size when folded.  I'm sure it would need extra postage because with the bling I added and all the layers it is definitely thicker than 1/4".

top 2 flaps folded down

and here's the box from the front

and from the side
The Easter egg stamps were in the goodie bag my daughter gave me for Christmas, wood Studio G stamps.
The sentiments are CTMH stamps.  The plastic I used to hold the little eggs up is from one of those strips you find under the collar of a freshly purchased man's shirt, a trick Joyce taught us.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Brown Sugar Challenge #86 - Anything Goes
Crafts 4 Eternity Challenge #168 - Anything Goes
Jellypark Challenge - Pretty Pastels
Sister Act Card Challenge #49 - Anything Goes
Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge - Easter
4 Crafty Girls Challenge #14 - Anything Goes
Creative Knockouts Challenge #29 - Things with Wings
Red Rubber Inspirationals #12 - Color in the Lines
(I used various brands of markers to color the Easter Eggs.)

Have a great week-end.
And thanks so much for visiting my blog.

Tuesday Throwdown Challenge

It's time to post my Design Team card for the
This week we are having a fun Tic Tac Toe Challenge sponsored by Sami Stamps
For this challenge  I used this adorable image called Fancy Pillow which is available here at Sami Stamps.

I sized the digi in my "Paint" program and then printed it three times.  First on the pale green flowered DP, then on the yellow flowered DP, and finally on off white CS.  Using brown colored pencils, I colored just the cat on the CS and then fussy cut it and the yellow flowered pillow and paper pieced them both onto the light green flowered DP.  I added buttercup liquid pearls to the pillow fringe.  The cat received a diamond choker and earing.  The embossed card base has a very pretty pearlescent gloss.  I added a little decorative brown stitching in the upper right corner to attach the birdcage charm and 3 brown pearls.  Finally, I added a simple sentiment on a small die cut scalloped oval.  I tried to keep the bling to a minimum so the card would retain a CAS look.   It's kind of tough using both on the same card, but I think this works pretty well.
Here's the Tic Tac Toe Board with which I was working  for this week's challenge:
Please take a moment to stop over at the Tuesday Throwdown Blog and see the wonderful cards my fellow teamies have created to inspire you and leave some love for all their hard work.
(esp. for NC who just celebrated (?) a birthday)
We'd love to have you join the fun

Isn't it compulsory....

to use something new when you've been to a stamping show over the weekend?  After a great buying spree, who can resist playing with their new toys?  Not me!  So for today's Mojo Monday card I unwrapped a new graduation hat embossing folder by Darice.  I love embossing folders.  I can't believe I only bought one.  But,  I was trying to be good since there are more shows coming up in April and May.  Yippee!!  My cousin wants some graduation cards to sell at her little shop, so I should get a lot of use out of this folder.
Thinking this might be more of a guy card, I tried to keep it kind of simple and used CS only. I chose black, off white and red, because red is one of our local high school's colors and there were pieces of each in the pile on my table.   I used washi tape for the bottom borders, a Close to My Heart stamp for the sentiment, Snoopy is a Hallmark puffy sticker I picked up on clearance last year, and I followed today's Mojo Monday Sketch:

I'll be entering this card in these challenges:
Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #337
Dragonfly Dreams Challenge #3 - Up in the Air
Pile It On Challenge #11 - For a Guy
Scribble and Scrap Challenge #14 - Always Anything Goes
Card a Day March Challenge, Week #3 - Congratulations

Peek a boo Birthday Card for Imagine That March Challenge

Digi by Imagine That; Happy Birthday sentiment is a CTMH stamp.

Imagine That digis by Kris supplied this adorable Kitty in Flowers image for its March Progressive Challenge.  There's a big 1st birthday celebration in progress on the Imagine That blog with a fun Blog Hop March 10-17th.  And there are some great new birthday digis which were just released for the occasion.  Take a moment, read the rest of this post, and then head over to their blog for a chance at some great prizes.
(This is an unsolicited and unpaid advertisement.  I just like Kris's digis and I'm sure you will too.)

Returning to my blog post for today.....

I've been using this striped glitter paper on several cards lately because the colors remind me of Spring even though our weather is still far from Springlike.  The snow is slowly melting.  We even found our Feb 2nd newspaper earlier this week.  It had been covered with snow all that time.   And I must give our carrier credit - it was wrapped in plastic and totally dry.  Amazing.
I applied adhesive tape around the outside edge of the glitter paper and adhered it onto the card base.  With my Spellbinder beaded circle die, I cut the aperture through both layers.  After resizing, printing and coloring the digi image,  I cut that with the same die and attached it to the inside of the card.  I cut a few more die cuts from matching green glitter paper and pink CS for the corners and sentiment, respectively.    A little bling here and there and this card is ready to be submitted to the following challenges:

Imagine That March Challenge - Kitty in Flowers
Alphabet Challenge  - "C" is for Country Flowers
Cut It Up Challenge #40 - Include some Green for St. Patrick's Day or Spring
Jellypark Challenge - Pretty Pastels
Stampin for the Weekend - Anything Goes
Art Impressions Challenge #131 - Take a Peek/Window Opening Cards
Digi Stamps 4 Joy Challenge #87 - Add a Birthday Sentiment

And I still have the 2 beaded circles I cut from the front of the card.
I'm sure you'll see them eventually.

Now I'm off to do the Blog Hop at Imagine That.

Artist Trading Cards

ATC's aren't something I normally do.  But I'm headed to the Heirloom Rubber Stamps Show in Allentown, PA, this weekend and there's always an ATC contest.  The theme this year is Irish Luck.   The competition is fierce, so I'll be needin' a bit o' luck meself, if I'm to be winnin'.

The poker player is a stamp from Stamper's Best.  I stamped it a few times so I could fussy cut and add a few more coin piles.  My DH suggested the gold tooth. The shamrock stamp is from CTMH.
For the next ATC  I used some vintage playing card paper I found in my stash.  I cut a tag with shamrock aperture using the Artiste CTMH cricut cartridge.  Then I stamped CTMH images of a ticket and shamrock with sentiment and fussy cut.  Everything was distressed with green ink.
The cute little piggy will be lucky indeed if he collects any kisses.  After all, he is a pig.  He's a From the Heart digi image.  The sentiment is a rub on, and the shamrock is CTMH.
And the last card has gold textured paper under the white cardstock background.  I took a few different CTMH ink pads (sweet leaf, ponderosa pine, olive green, creme brulee) and smeared them across the CS before random stamping the CTMH shamrocks, punching the corners and adding a piece of sheer green ribbon.  I used a wood stamp I found in a dollar bin at ACMoore and 2nd generation stamped it on white CS.  Then I stamped half of the CTMH sentiment over it.    The second half of the CTMH sentiment was stamped over another solid shamrock.  I spritzed both with gold mist and then cut them out.  The cloud/rainbow/pot of gold is another CTMH stamp which I colored, fussy cut and then added glitter to the gold and glaze to the pot.

I am going to enter the Pot of Gold ATC in the following challenges:
Aud Sentiments Challenge #102 - Anything Goes
Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge #168 - Anything Goes
Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge #127 - Leprechauns/Luck

Through the Craft Room Door March 11th Challenge - Anything Goes

Heart 2 Heart March Challenge - Feeling Lucky
Love to Create Challenge #106 - Anything Goes

Top of the Mornin'

Theodore-Shamrocks is the name of this cute Irish teddy from Bugaboo Digital Stamps.
