Do What You Love - Day #30

What I love, when making cards, is finding a new fold.  Recently, I found a tutorial for a twisted card, which makes a great gift card holder for Christmas giving.  I also love fussy cutting and paper piecing.  And, I have totally loved making all 30 of the cards for Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards.

This card is totally made with CTMH papers, stamps, and Artistry cricut cartridge for the Day # 30, Do What You Love, Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.

From the moment I first saw this stamp....

....I knew exactly how I would use it on a card.  So when I won one of the many prizes Beccy is so generously giving away during the Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place, I selected the  Poinsettia Set as my prize.  First chance I got, I opened the digi file, resized  and flipped the poinsettia swag image and printed it so it cascaded down the side of a card.  I fussy cut the edge, decorated the inside of the card and added a simple sentiment to the front.  Doesn't it make a beautiful one layer card?  Just as I pictured it.

This is my entry for Day # 29, Something New at Beccy;s Place Month of Holiday Cards Challenge.
BTW, the red inside paper is also new, a freebie from a magazine.  The front sentiment stamp was also a magazine freebie.  And the inside stamp is from SNS.

Waterfall Card for Day #28

When I went to my very first stamping show, about 7 years ago, I was fascinated by the flip stamps at Repeat Impressions designed specifically for waterfall cards.  Since my mother collects nativity scenes, I purchased the stamp I am using today to share with her.  Not only is it one of my oldest stamps, but I think this is the first time I've used it.  So why did I use it today?  Because the theme at Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards Challenge is to Use Something Old for Day #28.

Just Because....

it's the day after Thanksgiving, doesn't mean I won't be entering a card in Day #27 (Non-traditional colours) of Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards Challenge.  Just because I carried all the stuff I usually have on my dining room table upstairs so there would be room for stuffing instead, doesn't mean I can't go up and bring a bit back down.  And just because I now have a table full of clean china and silver waiting to be put away,

doesn't mean I couldn't find a little bit of time and space to make this card:

I found these 2 small pieces of DP in a bag of scraps from Christmas Past.  This is why I don't throw even the tiniest pieces away.  You never know when they will be just the ones you need.  I distressed all the edges and mounted them on scraps of deep purple CS.  The stamps on the front sentiment panel are CTMH, stamped in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation.   The snowflake swirls on the inside are also CTMH, but the sentiments are from SNS.  The ribbon, which ties this gate fold card shut, wraps around the back and right front of the card, covered with a piece of the CS to help secure it.  And, finally, I added a few purple gems.

Additional challenges:
Fairy Tale Challenge #131 - Christmas without Red or Green
Jingle Belles Challenge - Holiday Leftovers (use scraps)
Polkadoodles Challenge Week #47 - White + 1 color

DRS Designs Challenge #202 - Let the Holidays Begin
Star Stamps Challenge - Lots of Layers
Cards in Envy - Extra Layers

Guess I'll get those unwelcome items on the table put away and return it to my craft space.

After seeing that Using a Tutorial was the theme for Day #24 at Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards Challenge, I headed straight for Splitcoast Stampers, which has a great selection of tutorials.  The Pop-up Present Card tutorial caught my eye.
Here's my version:

Day #22 and a gift card, too!

Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards Challenge is really cooking for Day #22.  Mixes and Mediums is the theme. For my card I decided to use a double layer of green embossing powder to color the tree instead of just using markers.  The garland is liquid pearls carefully applied with a pin.  And the tree baubles are a combination of glitter gel, red ink, and Create a Shade Paint, also applied with a pin.  The tree stand is colored with gold Wink of Stella glitter.   I, also, added 5 drops of liquid glass, which dries clear, to some of the dots on the dp for accents.  And, the strips of Christmas trees are washi tape.

"Sweet" Cards

Today I have two cards to show you featuring sweet images.  The first card is for Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards Challenge where the theme for Day #21 is Candy.  And Beccy was kind enough to post a free digi candy cane on her blog.  I printed up the uncolored version, one of which I flipped; colored them with markers; fussy cut them and glued them to the card in the shape of a heart; then paired it with a CTMH sentiment and candy embossing folder to make this simple card.

Additional challenges for this candy card include:
Brown Sugar Challenge #173 - Anything Goes
Cardz 4 Gals Challenge #8 - Favorite Christmas Colors (red & green)
Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge - Anything Goes 4 Kids

The second card is for the November Progressive Challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs.  It features an adorable bear, sipping on a mug of something warm and yummy.  How do I know it is yummy?  What warm drinks aren't yummy?  Hot apple cider, hot chocolate, hot tea, hot coffee, cappuccino, or latte, .....
(The sentiment and border are CTMH stamps.)

Additional challenges for this cute bear are:
Fantastic Tuesday Challenge #112 - Anything Goes w/ Twist: add some purple

Day #20 + CTMH Cards Class 11/17/15

After viewing this post, I suggest you hop over to Beccy's Place to see how beautiful her Negative Coloring is.  Mine is not the best, but okay for my first attempt.  Well, to be honest, this is actually my 5th attempt.  The first 3 were cardinals, now in the trash.  And then I switched to this pine bough stamp, and the first one also is in the trash.  I probably need a different type of white pencil and definitely a lot more practice.  This is my card for Day #20 of Beccy's Month of Holiday Cards using Negative Coloring:
(Stamps are from Sparkle n Sprinkle)

***********
There was no sun at all here yesterday.  Today looks like we'll have plenty.   It's a much better day to photograph and show you the CTMH cards we made on Tuesday at Joyce's.

This last card features the November SOTM set.  I already put in my order because the stamps will also be useful for graduation cards this spring and other congratulatory occasions.

Lots to do today.
I sure hope the theme for Day #21 at Beccy's Month of Holiday Cards is a simple one!

Day #19 - Snow Globe Inspiration

A couple years ago I bought a pack of clear cards.  Amazingly enough, I knew right where to find them to make this card for Day #19 of the Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.

CAS not CASE for Day # 18 at Beccy's Place

Yesterday we were CASEing ourselves and today we are making Clean and Simple cards for The Month of Holiday Cards Challenge at Beccy's Place.
I actually made 2 cards for this challenge, because I wasn't sure the first card was simple enough after I added a frame, bow and shimmer trim.
All CTMH products.
The second card is definitely CAS.  I used a Nordic Christmas die, which I received in my Quick Cards magazine.  The front of the card was backed with a piece of red CS to cover the aperture. Then I popped out the extraneous pieces from the die cut and repositioned it back into the card front.  The string is just drawn with a marker and the bow and sentiment are CTMH stamps.
(I should have waited a bit longer to take the photo.  When the sentiment ink dries it will match the paper much better.)

Additional challenges for this card include:
One Layer Christmas Card Challenge # 33 - one layer w/ optional silhouette
The Crafty Addicts Challenge #4 - Anything Goes/Use Die Cuts
Clear It Out Color Challenge - White + 1 color (Stash item - cardstock)
Brown Sugar Challenge #172 - No Patterned Paper

Today was a really cloudy day, terrible for photographing cards.  In fact, it looked like it was going to snow!  Fortunately, our temperatures are too high for that, but we are expecting rain all day tomorrow.  When the sun returns, I will photograph and share with you the cards we made at Joyce's class yesterday.
