Double Trouble Challenge

After a couple days of rain and record cold temps for May,

today was a beautiful day.

I thought I'd Celebrate by making a card for Double Trouble Challenge  #85.  This is only a one week challenge because it is the 5th Monday of the month.  And because it is the 5th Monday of the month, the theme is

Something, Anything, Everything and Optional YoYo Fun

After very careful and in depth research, I decided to let the Pinwheel Yo-Yo trick be the inspiration for my card.  To make it extra fun,  I made a Yo-Yo Spinner card.  Pull the little blue star and the pinwheel spins like a yo-yo.  Wind the string back up to do it again and again.

Pinwheel stamps are from CTMH.

Challenges:

Through the Craft Room Door Week of May 25th - AG

Retro Rubber Challenge #159 - AG  (These stamps are about 8 years old.)

Allsorts Challenge Week 626 - Any Celebration (not birthday)

Owl clean up later

The craft table is a mess but whenever I start tidying I end up making a card with the scraps.  It's a really bad habit.  Instead, I thought I'd clean up some of the images in my camera,

like this Owl card

Imagine That! digi image printed in grayscale, colored with markers, fussy cut and popped onto a Spellbinder's die cut, CTMH sentiment stamp and papers.

and this Dad card.

House Mouse stamp with hat, ball and glove paper pieced.

Try Stampin' Or Not on Tuesday

I am fully aware that today is Monday.

Some days I'm not too sure.  But today, I am.

This week's challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday gives you the option of making a card with or without stamping. And it also gives you the option of following the sketch or the technique or both.

Generally, if I'm in for a penny, I'm in for a pound.  So I did both.

(The front stamps are from CTMH, colored with markers and fussy cut.)

(The butterfly was a leftover, just laying on my table.  The sentiment is SU.)

By making this a top fold card, it was very easy to insert a clear piece of acrylic for the see through section.

Stamping Sensations May Challenge - Beautiful Blooms

Tri-Fold Window Get Well Card

This week's Weekly Inkling from Splitcoast Stampers showcased a pretty Vertical Trifold Window Card and supplied  a link to a tutorial with directions on how to make it.  It was very easy.

I had to improvise a little, but I like the design.

This is the card front.  My card base was already scored to make a side fold card, rather than the top fold shown at SCS.

I used a die from Die Versions to make the center window and the label die is Spellbinders.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

When you open the card, this is what you see...

I cut a second label to cover the back of the front label.   Inside the main card is another card cut slightly smaller.  This is also a side fold but the fold is to the right.  I used holographic paper to die cut the rose and mounted it on a multicolor piece of velum with multicolor dazzle stickers on the corners.

And when you open the inside card, this is what you see....

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy 91st Birthday

This birthday card needed to be a bit special because it's for a wonderful lady who went to high school with my mother and I've known all my life.

Her family couldn't have a big 90th birthday celebration last year due to Covid 19 restrictions.  This year they are showering her with cards.  Here's my contribution to the many cards she'll be receiving:

This is called an arrow fold card.  Linda Heller has a good video on her blog here, if you'd like to try one.

The rose stamp is from CTMH

and the sentiment stamp is by My Favorite Things.

Imagine That! May Progressive Challenge

This month's freebie for the May Progressive Challenge at Imagine That! is a super cute digi set called Go Fly A Kite.

Kris, thanks so much for this wonderful set!

Here is the card I made using the dog digi:

I colored the image with markers, sponged a bit of light blue around the kite, and green at the bottom.   This card went right in the box to go to Send A Smile 4 Kids.

While I'm here, I might as well show you the card I made for the Color Challenge at MFT.  I made this card with my grandson-in-law in mind.  He's in his late twenties.

Knead a Hug?

That's the sentiment I decided to pair with this fun digi, Bertha's Bread Baking Bonanza, from Dr. Digi's House of Stamps for the Outlawz May Progressive Challenge.

I followed the sketch from the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at My Favorite Things

colored the image with markers, did a bit of distressing and added a bit of white flocking for flour.

If you played in the Outlawz April Progressive Challenge, you would have received this digi for free.   You can still pick it up here, join the May Challenge, and receive a free digi to play in June.

Mother's Day Card

Yesterday, I discovered some pretty die cuts hiding in an envelope of miscellaneous items that had no home.  And since I couldn't find the card I had made for my mother weeks ago, I used them to make her this card instead:

For the background paper behind the die cut,  I used colored pencils and a clear glitter brush to blend them.  The sentiment stamp is from CTMH.   And
somewhere, if I ever find it, is next year's card already made.  Don't you just hate when that happens?

For Baby

Kaisercraft has a darling 6x6 paper pad called Little Treasures, which I was using to make a card in my previous post.

Before I put it away, I decided one of the preprinted images and a pop out border would be perfect for Sketch # 504 at Try Stamping on Tuesdays.  And I got to try the beautiful lace embossing folder that the postman delivered just hours ago.

Sentiment stamp is from SU.

Challenges:

Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #504 - see above (I skipped the option.)

As You Like It Challenge - Favorite Way to Add Ribbon (I have a small bag of little bows that I make when the spool of ribbon is nearing the end.  When I want a ribbon on my card, I can just add a sticky adhesive dot and pop it right on the card.  Easy!)

Nurses Appreciation Week

Yesterday was the beginning of Nurses Appreciation Week.

I've used a cute stamp set from My Favorite Things to make a couple cards for the occasion.  These will be great to mail off to Send A Smile 4 Kids.  Thankfully, some of the children's hospitals are beginning to accept card donations once again.

This first card follows the sketch at

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #540

And the second card follows the sketch at

Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #505.

TSOT had an optional theme to use pastel colors, so I chose my papers accordingly.
Both images were hand colored with a combination of markers and pencils.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #604

Welcome to my blog, where I have
a new card
to share with you each week for
Tuesday Morning Sketches
 Here's this week's sketch.

I followed it to make this card for my daughter's birthday, which was May 1st.  I know this doesn't look like a very feminine card
(even though the card base is pink), but my daughter likes frogs.  She loved this, saying it looked just like her Cope's Grey Tree Frog named Ghost.  The digi image, Frog an Flora, is from the Createful Hearts Design Store.  It was hand colored with pencils and blended with a waterbrush.

I hope you'll have time to play along at

this week.

A Hoppin' Fancy Fold

Double Trouble Challenge # 83 is my kind of challenge.

Trouble Maker has chosen the theme - Fun Folds.

(There are links to some tutorials on the DTC blog.)

Did you know that May 13th is Frog Jumping Day?  Why would you?  For some reason, Double Dare's Twisted Sister has asked that we help her celebrate by putting a frog on your card.

And finally, the Double Dare is to enter the Crafting Happiness Challenge #95, whose theme is Frogs.  I suggest you visit this blog, if only to see the dancing frog!

I love Fun Folds and today I've made one that I never made before.

It's a Bay Window Card.

When it is removed from the envelope, it looks like this.

But then tuck the pink strip on the right side under the inside strip, just like you would an easel card, and it looks like this.

Here's another view.  You can see the spring that makes the cute frog, a CTMH stamp and die, wobble just a bit.
I added a strip of glitter foil across the bottom for some shine and used a Pink and Main die for the scalloped edges.

It was really very simple.

Additional Challenges I am entering:

Creative Creases Challenge - AG with a Fun Fold

The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge - Something in the garden (I have a cute little garden toad that returns every year and lives in the planter on the porch. )
