DIL Birthday + CTMH Card Class 10/31/17

Today is my daughter-in-law's birthday.
I'm hoping she will find this card in her mailbox.

No stamping on the front, just a sponged die cut flower, sentiment sticker, and bow.  But inside I stamped this pretty CTMH sentiment.
Challenges:
A Gem of a Challenge # 206- Ribbon and Pearls
Cardz 4 Gals Challenge #59 - Favorite Flower (Mine is the rose because of its beautiful fragrance.)
Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #174 - Anything Goes with Ribbon
DL Art Thankful Thursday Challenge #215 - Ribbon and Sparkle  (You can just barely see the beautiful sparkle in the white ribbon.  The flower also has a sparkle from clear Wink of Stella.)

Speaking of CTMH...
We had card class this afternoon and I quickly took my pictures before the sun went away.
Here are the cards I made:

Black, White and Gold Cards

Making sympathy cards is not something I particularly enjoy making, especially when it is intended for a friend or family.  But you gotta do what you gotta do.  I saw a stunning black, white and gold card on Pinterest and thought I'd make something similar.
First I die cut the Fanciful Leaf Flourish, a Cheery Lynn Designs die, from a scrap of gold.  Then I took a piece of black cs and a piece of white cs and simultaneously cut another flourish out of the center.  While holding the two pieces together, I hand cut them into to pieces following the curve of the die cut opening.  The sentiment was stamped next.  Then I fit a black half and a white half together and taped them, top and bottom, and embossed.  The embossed pieces were then adhered to a piece of gold cs and the gold flourish was inset into the opening.  The card front was glued to the white card base and the black and gold bow added.

I went ahead, cut a second gold flourish and made a second card with the leftover black and white pieces.  But what to do with the black flourish, the white flourish, and the gold paper from which the gold flourishes had been cut????
Why make 3 more cards, of course!

The sentiment is a sticker and the flower is a CTMH stamp.
I rubbed the champagne stamp pad I had used on the flowers over black and white polka dot paper to make it match.
Aside from the bits of white cs surrounding the fussy cut flowers,
I used all the leftovers.    Yippee!

While the rest of the laundry dries, I think I'll make some cookies!

heARTful stamping challenge

heARTful stamping
launches a new challenge today.
Once a month I help Chris Franco out with a project to help inspire her followers and challenge entrants.  This month's project is actually a birthday card I made for my CTMH consultant, Joyce Houck.  It is a lever, easel card featuring the stamps from last month's CTMH special and an old CTMH set,
CC1025, You Are My Happy, Icons and Sentiments, gets credit for the sun image.

I love how it turned out using halloween colors.
It's that time of year.
Challenges:
Craft-Dee Bowz October Challenge - AG with a handmade bow
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #439 - Add ribbon and distress

 Thanks for visiting.
I hope you'll play in the heARTful stamping  challenge this week.

Lego Card

This was definitely the most tedious card I've ever made.  It's been on my work table for a few days in a semi-finished state.  With my great nephew's birthday rapidly approaching, it was a Must Do on yesterday's To Do list.
Challenges:

That's it for today.
I have to go see a lady about some cookies!!!!

Let's Celebrate + CTMH Cards from 10/24/17 class

Tying that waxy flax around the ends of those balloons was no easy task.  That flax was such a great product.  I really wish CTMH still made it.  I use what I have left sparingly.
The balloon animals are from a CTMH stamp set, also retired.
They make great kid cards, especially in nice bright colors.
Challenges:
Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge - Celebration Cards 4 Kids
Ike's World 100th Challenge - Anything Goes + Celebrations

**********
Joyce is already in the Christmas spirit.  We made these 4 Christmas cards at class yesterday.  Everyone loved the CTMH stamps we were using.

Bugaboo Halloween Pumpkin

Yesterday I thought I'd share this card which features the Bugaboo Halloween Pumpkin Digi Image.
But my internet connection was so sticky I could only type one word, wait 30 seconds, type another, wait 30 seconds.... and it was just too frustrating!  So I shut down the stupid machine and put off trying to post until today.  So far, so good!

I used CTMH stamps for the orange frame and halloween sentiment, stamping on white cs, fussy cutting, mounting on purple cs and fussy cutting again before popping onto the patterned paper.

Time for Cocoa

The mailman delivered 2 sets of Sweet n Sassy stamps and it took 2 days until I could find some time for Cocoa, the adorable mouse that appears in several Sweet n Sassy stamps.
Fortunately, there was enough sun left in this beautiful day
to take a photo of this sweet Christmas card,
but, unfortunately, not enough to show you the shine on the cup from 3 layers of clear embossing powder.
This stamp set is called Cup of Cocoa and has 3 additional cute sentiments.
Challenges:
2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge #7 - Anything Goes with a Critter
Fab n Funky Challenge #367 - Paper Piecing (The cup was stamped on blue cs, the snowflakes colored, then heat embossed and pieced into the stamped image.)

The second stamp set I received is For the Birds, but that will have to wait for another day.

Fall Happy Thoughts

This card is a conglomeration of worktable leftovers, a speech bubble that was too small for another card, a little black cricut cat, and a Bugaboo digi image.   I really just wanted to use the new washi tape I didn't need but couldn't resist.

Oh my, this photo is a bit crooked.
Challenges:
Use Your Stuff Challenge #284 - Tis the Season for Pumpkin Spice

Recycling Business Cards

Our day started with a soccer game.
And I am happy to report that grandson Matthew's team won 2-0.

A few weeks ago, one of the other soccer grandmoms and I were talking.  Norma was very interested in my cardmaking and asked me to bring a few cards to the next soccer game for her to see.  She channels her creative talents into her flower business, Thorns and Petals, in Sellersville, PA, and gave me a few of her business cards.   I'm hoping she'll give me a few more to pass out, because this is what I did with the ones I had.

Don't they look good on a card????
(That's a CTMH sentiment stamp.)

I had planned on giving this to Norma at the game this morning but she wasn't there.  Guess I'll surprise her and pop it in the mail
as well as a few....

More purple leaves

Back in August I made a card for a challenge that required masking.  (You can see it here.)  I cut out 3 maple leaves in 3 different sizes on my cricut and used them as masks.  Since that time, those 3 maple leaves have been floating here and there on my work table.  After a bit of embossing, they have been permanently relocated to this fall card.
That piece of purple tuille, another table top loiterer, also found a home in the cricut cut tags.  And the piece of leftover baker's twine was just long enough to wrap across the front of the card.
The papers, stamp, and gold puffies are from CTMH.

Have a Happy Day!

Tuesday Throwdown Challenge #364 with Sparkle n Sprinkle

Pull out your stencils, or make one like I did,
and join us for this week's

Our very generous sponsor, Sparkle N Sprinkle
gave all of the Team B members at Tuesday Throwdown their choice of digital stamp sets for our projects this week.
I chose Digital Stamp Set 825,
Eggs-Ordinary Kindness .

Personally, I don't do much stenciling.  I may have 2 stencils in my stash.   But it's so easy to make a stencil using the negative from a die cut or cricut cut, as I did here.   I printed the digital image twice, one I cut out for a mask and the other I colored for the card.  After masking the colored image, I laid the stencil over top, secured it with a bit of washi tape, and used a dauber and ink to sponge in the design.  Worked for me!

Sparkle n Sprinkle has recently moved to a new web site.
If you do a lot of stenciling, you definitely will ooh and aah over the mousses, pastes, and Stampendous Stencils in the Sparkle n Sprinkle store.
Be sure to check it out for lots of fabulous products.

Joyful Stars Close To My Heart October Blog Hop

Welcome to the October

Close to My Heart Joyful Stars Blog Hop.

Have some fun hopping between the blogs of this group of talented Close to My Heart consultants, and me, where we share creative projects using CTMH products.

This month I've made a few Christmas cards using new stamps, both new and old papers, and a fair amount of bling to make the snowflakes sparkle.

Now, since this is a blog hop,
you might have arrived here from Tracey Pierce's blog.
Your next stop is  Michelle Loncar's blog.   The hop is circular.  So if you are just starting here, simply continue hopping until you find your way back, making the full circle.  If you get lost, the complete list of participants is on Joyce's blog

Since the 3rd card is my favorite, I am entering it in these challenges:
Scribbles Design Challenge #57 - Embossing (I used both wet and dry.)
Winter Wonderland Challenge - Anything Christmas Goes

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas/Holiday cards and have time to enjoy the rest of the Joyful Stars October Blog Hop.

Going Batty

Sometimes there are so many cards in the process of being completed on my work table, that I have to take a day, or two, and force myself to finish them all before I go on to anything else.
This card was all but finished.  It just needed "something".
Then I saw the challenge at Crafty Gals Corner.
It was like it spoke directly to me.
"Add a bat"
So, I did and now it's done.
(Sentiment and frame stamps are CTMH stamps, bat and ghost are CTMH cricut cuts.)

Both my grandson and my BFF's grandson are soccer nuts.  I made 2 birthday cards like this for their birthdays this year.
With cash inside they are sure to like them.
And they are kind of cute, the cards and the boys, too.

The image is a Bugaboo digi stamp,
paper pieced and colored with markers.
The stamps on the card front are from CTMH.
The inside stamps are SU.
The inside die cut is from DieVersions.
The card front paper is Graphic 45.

Child's Birthday Card

This card was made with the current
It features 1 layer of paper, which is actually glued to the back of a 5.25 x 4.0 card,  1 word sentiment, CELEBRATE,
and 1 embellishment, the little bow on the elephant's tail.
The Birthday Elephant digi stamp is from Bugaboo Stamps and is colored with pencils.  The sentiment is a CTMH stamp.  And I never could have made that tiny bow without my
I used Glossy Accents on the 2 balloons to make them shiny, and it really warped the card stock, which I'm not too happy about.  It's the first time I tried GA.  Any suggestions?

A Gem of a Challenge #204 - Birthday Card

heARTful stamping Anything Goes

Today begins a new Anything Goes challenge at
As usual, the masculine CAS card I started to make
morphed into a not-so-CAS card.
The masculine part still works, don't you think?

With the exception of the Darice embossing folder, the card featutres all CTMH products.
The sentiment is a cricut cut from Flower Market.
The Little St. Nick stamp is from the new holiday catalog.
And the dotted background piece is from the Basic Fundamentals paper pack.
