Hey There

Using the sketch from My Favorite Things and a springtime House Mouse stamp, here's a simple slimline card for any occasion.

I used markers and pencils to color the image, a CTMH stamp for the sentiment, washi tape to make the two lines, and a freebie magazine die to cut the frame.

Graduation time

Other than making something for the

Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge # 503

I had no real plans for today's card.  But after I chose the papers, stamped the butterfly first on cs and then on green velum, fussy cut it,  popped it on the inside oval, chose the stick-on 'take flight' sentiment,  and added the bow, it occurred to me that it would make a nice graduation card for a certain young lady who will soon be receiving her nursing degree.

All it needed was the "Congratulations"

The oval dies are by Spellbinders and the word die by Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The butterfly stamp was a freebie by Sheena Douglas from a Quick Cards magazine.  The take flight sticker was a freebie that came with my last order from Stamplorations.  Gotta love those freebies!

This is the sketch from TSOT that I was following:

The Design Team for Try Stampin' On Tuesday Challenge really did an outstanding job with their sample cards this week.  Several are fancy folds.  If I hadn't visited one of their blogs, I never would have known that one of the cards is actually a gate fold.  So, if you have some time, I'd suggest making a few visits and collecting a few tips from this talented group.

Flowers for Double Trouble

I knew I was forgetting something.

Double Trouble started a new challenge last week

and I never made a card.

This week's theme, compliments of Thing #1, is Flowers in celebration of Spring.  Thing #2 encourages you to also enter your card in the Make the Cards Challenge.  But, in order to enter that challenge, Thing #3 reminds you to use these colors:

This is what I put together for Double Trouble Challenge # 82 and Make the Cards Challenge #13

The stamp is by Honey Doo Crafts and the die is by Momenta.

I borrowed the grandkid's water paints to make the random flecks of color and added a few sequins at the last minute.

Have a great day everyone!

Looking for the right paper

While looking for the perfect paper to make a special card, I came across a Decoupage Pack by Papermania called OWL FOLK.  How these owls managed to hide among my patterned papers is beyond me.  The package has never been opened and must be a couple of years old.

It's been opened now.

Here's a thank you card I made using one of the punch out circles with a 3 layer owl.  There were actually 6 layers in the pack, but I stretch the designs by only using 3.  It also doesn't make the card too thick for mailing.

Using a Sizzix die, I cut the brown circle.  Then I went in search of some patterned paper which would compliment the image.  Not only did I find paper, but I also found a punch out sentiment to match.  What an easy make. The only ink involved was a bit to distress edges.

Now to get back to looking for the perfect paper

to make that special card.

After I enter a few challenges:

Tower Fold card 4 My Friend

The mailman just collected this card from our mail box.

I promised a friend a recipe and since she is a great card maker I felt she needed a special card.  Serendipity placed the Splitcoast Stampers Weekly Inkling in my inbox and this card fold was front and center.  The tutorial is easy to follow and it was a quick make.

Actually, I started this post yesterday; left to go to a freezing cold baseball game at my grandson's high school; and never got back to my computer to finish it until now.  That means the mailman picked this card up yesterday and it is on its way.  It also means I can do absolutely nothing about the fact that the sentiment is crooked.  I remember stamping the sentiment a bit wonky.   I flipped over the paper and stamped it straight.   But somehow I managed to glue the wrong side up.  Oh, well.

Papers are from CTMH; sentiment stamp is CTMH; stamp for blue flower is SU; flowers are MFT die cuts and punched.

MFT Sketch Challenge

Keeping in mind the theme for Cardz 4 Guys and following the MFT Wednesday Sketch, I created this card.

The Cardz 4 Guys Challenge theme is the same as the premise for the NBUS Challenge - using that Never Before Used Schtuff  in your stash.  The sentiment stamp is from a Lawn Fawn set and is the only one I hadn't used.  The background stamp is from Papermania and is also new stamp.  The diamond embossing folder is by CTMH.  The embossing folder I used on the black strip is a Tim Holtz Sizzix stamp.   Oval dies are from Spellbinders and SU.  And finally, the fussy cut crow is a digi from Gecko Gals that I never used before.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #601

Welcome to my blog, where I have
a new card
to share with you each week for
Tuesday Morning Sketches

This is the first card I made for Andrea's sketch.  Sketches are basically a great starting point.  When I posted this card below the TMS sketch, I felt I missed one of the key points, the 3 shapes.  I was going to put a seagull at the bottom for my third element, but he obviously flew off.  I know not where.

I decided to make another card, now that I'm back in PA and have my entire stash at hand.
I am much happier with this version.
Since the card is a mini slimline, 3.5"x6", I decided to make and decorate an envelope, too.

I hope you'll have time to play along at

Occasionally we have prizes and this week
Andrea is donating a prize: 6 assorted colored mini slimline envelopes from Taylored Expressions.

Happy Birthday With No Stamping

 Hello my crafty friends.

Today I'm sharing a card with no stamping.  With all the beautiful papers and wonderful dies in my stash, stamping isn't always necessary.   However, when I don't stamp, I feel just a little guilty.  And, honestly, I don't often post them on my blog.

I specifically didn't put any stamping on this card  so that I could enter it in the Mix It Up Challenge # 4.

The gorgeous paper is Graphic 45, leftover scraps from another project that I managed to piece together to use as the background.

The purple frame is from SU ornate layers dies.  Luckily, I found a sentiment sticker which was the perfect size for the cream cs with punched borders.   The butterfly stickers are from the same sticker sheet.

The die cut butterfly is 3 layers; a gold backing, a yellow layer, and a velum layer to tone the yellow down just a bit.  The die is from Crafter's Companion.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge

Thought this might be a cute birthday card for a child in the hospital.  Even though most of the hospitals to which SAS4K  donates cards are not accepting them at the current time, I still have a box set aside to send out as soon as they are.

I used Stampin' Up stamps,

which required minimal coloring with a marker.

Here is this week's My Favorite Things Sketch, which I followed.

Here is a last minute Easter card I made to enter in the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge

and the My Favorite Things Color Challenge.

The Tea Cup Bunny image and Easter sentiment are freebies I received from Imagine That!
