Quilt Weather

When I was a kid, my brothers and I would hate when it was cold on Halloween.  It was so hard to wear a winter coat under our costumes.  The three of us walked from house to house looking like we were muscle bound sumo wrestlers.  I stuck to witch, gypsy, clown and hobo costumes.  A ballerina was totally out of the question!

Today is Halloween and it's cold!

In the spirit of keeping warm, I've made 2 quilt patterned cards to share with you.  It's hard to make just one!

Panda is a Stampin' Up stamp.

Snowman is a Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamp.

I love this combination of navy and, what CTMH calls, thistle. In fact, last year I found a sweatshirt in just these colors and immediately added it to my wardrobe, price be damned!  To me, they look both warm and rich together.

My inspiration for these two cards came from the Fab 'n' Funky 500th Challenge Celebration and blog hop.

Additional Challenges being entered: Get Creative Challenge #96 - Favorite Color Combo (navy and thistle); Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - AG; The House That Stamps Built Challenge 02820 - AG; As You Like It Challenge - Favorite Color to Pair with blue (thistle, it looks very regal to me and I am a Red Hat Queen); Crafty Catz Challenge #525 - All Dressed Up for Winter (The hat and scarf are paper pieced.); Just Us Girls Wild Card Challenge #560 - Word Dies; Allsorts Challenge Week #596 - For children or teens; Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge #514 - Anything Christmas Goes with option of something beginning with "H"  Hat

Turkey card for MFT Color Challenge

This is turkey card #3.  For this one I've used my favorite turkey stamp.  It's from CTMH and has a matching cricut cut on the CTMH Artiste cartridge.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

The colors I've used are from the MFT Color Challenge #152.  The dies I used for the squares and the decorative link border are all from My Favorite Things.

I colored white pearls with a marker to make them orange.  I rarely buy colored pearls or gems anymore.  It's too easy to color them and know they will match.

Challenges I am entering today:  The Artsy Stamper Challenge #26 - Halloween Colors; Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - AG; Krafty Chicks Challenge #531 - AG; Polkadoodles Challenge Wk 44 - AG; Aud Sentiments Challenge #253 - AG with a sentiment; My Favorite Things Color Challenge #154 -

 Pinspirational Challenge #274 -

.

The sun just came out.

Looks like the rest of the day will be nicer than the last couple.

Hope you have a nice one!

Thanks for visiting.

Turkey Card #2

Yesterday I posted my first turkey card of the season.

Here's my second, and it has been a nightmare from beginning to end.  I won't bore you with the details.  Suffice it to say, there is a reason why I don't do a lot of distressing.

Papers and stamps are all retired CTMH products.
The design is kind of a joy fold, a card in a card, with a latch.

Inside of the fully open card.

Challenges:   Krafty Chicks Challenge #531 - AG; Cardz 4 Galz Challenge #133 - Fall/Autumn; Scor-Pal More Than One Score October Challenge #75 - AG or Harvest/Halloween (both cards are scored); 613 Avenue Create October Challenge - AG optional Things with Wings; Crafting Happiness Challenge #69 - AG; Through the Craft Room Door Week of Oct. 27th - AG; Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - AG; The House That Stamps Built Challenge - AG; Creative Moments Challenge #201-AG

Now I have a broken ribbon jar to go clean up.  I told you this card was a nightmare.  And notice there isn't even a ribbon on it.   TTFN

In a few days Halloween will be over.   Then we only have a few weeks until it's time for Thanksgiving.  After that it's Christmas all the way.   I pulled out the few turkey stamps I have and decided to make a card with each.  Here's the first using a Great Impressions turkey stamp, Lawn Fawn sentiment stamp, and the sketch from My Favorite Things.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #578

 Tuesday Morning Sketches
Welcome to my blog, where I have
a new card
to share with you each week for

Here's the sketch for this week and my card.

I was really getting tired of making fall/halloween cards and using the autumnal colors.  So I switched it up for today.
I have a birthday coming up next week, and I'm just about this excited about it!
The ape image is by Tim Holtz.  I stamped, fussy cut and then paper pieced this handsome, cheerful fellow and glued him on the embossed card front upside down.  This explains why the layout is reversed from the sketch.  Luckily, I hadn't already adhered the front to the base yet.

I hope you'll play along at
this week.

Pretty Tea Pot

The card I have to share with you today started out as my entry for this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

Pulling some scraps from my stash, I glued the pieces together according to the sketch.  When it came to the 5 circles, I hit a mental wall.  I laid that aside until today when another idea presented itself and I wandered off in an entirely different direction.

The die cuts are from IO and ODB and the sentiment stamp is from Joy Clair.

The card won't work for the MFT Challenge, but it will for the following:

Crafting Happiness Challenge #69 - AG; Craft-Dee Bowz October Challenge - AG; Festive Friday Challenge #FF0070 - Pick 3 from the Insp List (I chose hot drink theme, ribbon, die cut)

Why have I never used this stamp?

It is amazing what gets buried in our stashes.  Last evening, while searching for a certain stamp, which I eventually did find, I came across this one by Stampendous.

I followed the TMS for this week,

colored the image and white pearls with markers, added 3 strips of washi tape and a bow using some fun ribbon from DL.Art.  The sentiment is from CTMH.

Challenges:

DL.Art Thankful Thursday Challenge #270 - Pumpkin (I hope my pumpkin person counts.); Crafty Gals Corner Challenge #212 - Halloween Colors; Funkie Junkie Boutique Challenge - Purple, Orange, Green, EEK! It's Halloween; Show Us Your Pussycats Challenge #59 - Meowloween; Through the Craft Room Door Week of October 20th - AG; The Artsy Stamper Challenge #26 - Halloween Colors; Coloring in Scrapland October Challenge - Happy Halloween

HAPPY Balloons

Using birthday, alphabet and balloon dies from My Favorite Things, it was relatively easy to put this card together.

This week's sketch for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge is super easy, too.

With the colored card base, I only needed a small scrap of dp for in the middle.

Challenges:

Paperminutes Challenge - Fast and Easy; Lil Red Wagon Challenge #572 - Things beginning with a B, Balloon, Blue, Birthday; My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #512 - see above

Thanks for stopping by.

Leftovers on Sunday

When I checked my stash for dp to make a card for the color challenge at MFT, I pulled out a 12x12 sheet of paper in a nice red plaid.  Then I came across another smaller piece of flowered paper that I used instead.  (See previous post)  Rather than refiling the plaid paper, I decided to use it for some Christmas cards.  I cut 6 pieces measuring 4"x5.25" for card fronts.  Then I was left with 3 pieces measuring 4"x1.5" which I used to make the card below.

I really like the way this turned out.

Now, let me tell you about the gold frames (Tim Holtz) and letters (MFT).  SU had a Christmas card kit in their holiday catalog.  Normally, I wouldn't purchase a kit, but I loved the sentiment stamp which was included.  The kit had gold precut holiday frames for the cards.  The inside of each frame still needed to be punched out.  Easy enough.  The inside piece of gold measured 4" x 5.75" but was missing a bit where the decorative corners had been.  Just like I couldn't part with the 3 leftover plaid pieces, I knew I could use those gold centers.  That's where the gold frames and letters on my card originated.  Plus I cut all of these, too!

And in the upper left of the photo are the leftovers I still have.

Challenges I am entering today include:

 Fezziwigs Festive Christmas Challenge - Textures;

Mix It Up Challenge #42 - Distressing (Plaid panels and dark green background are ink distressed in black.); The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #81 - AG; Merry Little Christmas Challenge #27 - AG;  Color Dare Challenge #416 - see Tic Tac Toe board below, I used the right column, Red, Ivy, and Gold.; Creative Fingers Challenge #195 - AG; Crafty Catz Challenge #523 - AG

Bugaboo Thank You

Today I've made a card specifically for 3 challenges, Catch the Bug Challenge, My Favorite Things Color Challenge, and Send a Smile 4 Kids.

In my stash, I was happy to discover the perfect size Bugaboo digi image for the piece of scrap paper I found in the exact colors I needed.  (I hope that last sentence makes sense.  I definitely wouldn't want to diagram it! Do they still diagram sentences in school?  Probably not.)

I knew I had a charm which would match wonderfully.

The stitched ric-rac is a die from MFT.

And I made the baker's twine bow with my handy Craft-Dee Bowz Maker.

The current theme at Send A Smile 4 Kids is Holiday or Celebration Cards for Kids or Anything Goes.  I won't be entering the challenge since I'm on the DT.  But, I will be adding this card to the box I'll be sending to a SAS4K Volunteer who will send it
on to one of the Children's Hospitals.ot donate

If you'd like to enter the SAS4K Challenge, you have until November 6th to submit a card.   Donating your card is not a requirement.

Here are the challenges I am entering:

My Favorite Things Color Challenge #151 -

Catch the Bug October Bingo Challenge - using the middle row: charm, Bugaboo image, and sentiment

Craft-Dee Bowz October Challenge - AG with a bow

Let's Craft and Creat Challenge #164 - AG, option use paper strips instead of ribbon

Another squirrel card

Here's another CAS card using a squirrel image from Whimsy Stamps Bundles of Hugs stamp set.  Doesn't this little guy look warm and cozy in his classy scarf?

Instead of stamping and coloring directly on the white card base, which markers sometimes bleed through, I stamped the image several times on various colored scraps, fussy cut, paper pieced and then glued the image on the card.

I'll be submitting this card to:Fab n Funky Challenge #428 - Keep It Simple; Krafty Chicks Challenge #529 - CAS; QKR Stampede Challenge #404 - AG; Scribbles Design Challenge #93 - Feature a Creature;   A Bit More Time to Craft Challenge #126 - AG; 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge #43 - AG with a critter; Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge #523-AG; Pammie's Inkie Pinkies Challenge #2041 - AG; The Library Challenge #69 - What to Look For in Autumn; AAA CAS Card Challenge Game #176 - One Corner and optional twist cozy

Thanksgiving

My grown grandchildren have already been pestering me to see if I'm making Thanksgiving dinner this year and putting in their orders for favorite dishes.  Will it be here that soon?

With that in mind, I thought I'd make a Thanksgiving card for this week's My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge.

I flipped the sketch sideways to accommodate the image, a CTMH stamp I discovered at my mother's earlier today.  I've also used Die-namics from My Favorite Things to die cut the layers.

Washi tape and dazzles finished off the card.

It might be easier to look at the card this way.

Challenges: My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #511 - see above; Di's Digi Designs Challenge - Add a Pumpkin; Crafter's Castle October Challenge #34 - AG; We Love Chocolate Baroque October Challenge - AG; Artsy Stamper Challenge #25 - Harvest Time; Through the Craft Room Door Challenge Week of October 13th - AG

Squirrels Everywhere

Fall is that time of year when the squirrels are very busy digging in our lawn, my flower beds, my flower pots,  (They also steal the bird seed, but that's a year round activity.  I even bought the No Squirrels bird seed.  That didn't help at all.) burying every nut they can find.    I don't really mind the squirrels.  So what if I need to sweep up a bit of potting soil around my pots and pull saplings out of my gardens in the spring.  It's just not that big a deal.  They are critters.  I like most critters.  Although, it would be nice if they were just a bit more entertaining, like this cute fellow from Whimsy Stamps.

(The sentiment is a CTMH stamp.)

The digi image is from Bugaboo Stamps and colored with markers.  The sentiment is from Inky Antics, heat embossed with a mixture of copper and gold embossing powder.  The leaves were cut on the cricut, sponged in various colors, and then colored with clear Wink of Stella to make them sparkle.

Thank You Bird

"When in doubt, put a bird on it" is one of the stamps in the stamp set I used to make this card.  And that is exactly what I did.  I put the card together using scraps from my recent foraging in the stash but it still needed something.  So I put a bird on it.

Die cuts and sentiment are a Sizzix set.

The bird is a stamp from Dylusions.
