Create with TLC digitals Image #1

Create with TLC is having a Progressive Freebies Challenge to celebrate World Card Making Day.  I'm starting a bit late, but hopefully I can get caught up.
Here's my first card for the challenge:

Tuesday Throwdown Opposites

Another fun challenge starts today at Tuesday Throwdown Challenge blog.
Our wonderful sponsor is Craft Classes Online (formerly My Creative Classroom).

They have recently relaunched their blog, My Creative Life which is filled with a lot of very interesting and useful information, as well as, weekly topics to challenge you.  The winner of this week's Tuesday Throwdown Challenge will receive a free seat in one of their many Workshop classes (a $25 value).  A list of their classes is on their website

The challenge theme for this week's Tuesday Throwdown Challenge is
Opposites Attract,
(color opposites, that is).
I chose orange and blue, although, I'm not exactly happy with the way the colors photographed.

Here's a color wheel for reference.

T&S card for the 5th Mojo Monday of the Month

Actually, I have 2 cards for you today.

I have discovered that I really enjoy playing in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch* Challenge, and today's sketch  was more suited to the digi image, Two-wit twooo, that I wanted to use for the Digi Stamps 4 Joy Challenge which closes soon.  So my first card is for those two challenges.

I am also entering this in the following challenges:
The Pink Elephant Challenge 270 - Anything Goes
Whoopsi Daisy Challenge - 2 or more designer papers (The 3 I've used are from a MS paper pack.)
Christmas Card Challenge #44 - Anything Goes
Sentimental Sundays Challenge #226 - Use Kraft Cardstock
Hiding in My Craftroom - Challenge #167 - Any Hoilday

My second card is for the Tall & Skinny Sketch** at Mojo Monday 365.  For this one I used a digi image from Inky Impressions.

Additional challenges for this card include:
Crafting from the Heart Challenge #38 - Anything Goes
Crafty Boots Challenge - Gold (I pulled out some gold Dazzles to use for the sentiment and border.)
Cutie Pie Challenge #79 - Threes  (3 gold hearts and 3 red banners)
Incy Wincy Designs Challenge - Something Old, Something New (dazzles are old; image is new)
Inky Impressions Challenge #178 - Anything Goes
613 Avenue Create Challenge #91- Anything Goes + optional/use a heart (I always need a couple anniversary cards right around the holidays.)

Here are the 2 sketches I've used for these cards:

Mystery Guest Design Spot

Today I am happily posting a card for a GDS at Crafting By Designs in conjunction with their current challenge theme,  Getting Ready for Christmas.
They were kind enough to Spotlight one of my cards last month, which is how I got this gig.

There is a story that goes with this post, so please bear with me.
Doris contacted me about making something for the Crafting By Designs Blog on September 3rd.  Unfortunately, our communications back and forth mysteriously disappeared from my google mail account shortly thereafter.  I knew I had a card to make but, for the life of me, could not remember for whom.  I did, however, remember the date by which it needed to be ready.  Under the circumstances, I thought it would be fitting to use a mystery message card, a card fold I had recently discovered and never made.  And then I hoped that whoever had asked me to make something for Aug. 24th would contact me.
Thank heavens, Doris followed up on her request and I was all ready with a card.   At least I thought I was.  Next mystery, what happened to the card photos?  I didn't have a draft for the post.  That would have been too simple and efficient.  And I couldn't find any photos in my picture file.  The postman had delivered it to a friend weeks ago, so I couldn't retake them.  Now what?  Then I checked my camera and found the photos still there waiting to be uploaded.  I uploaded them, did a little editing and was ready to send them off. Whew!
When Doris contacted me, the thread of original emails was restored and I could again view the original email which had disappeared.   Oh no!  I didn't remember there was a theme!  I had a fall birthday card all ready and the challenge theme was Getting Ready for Christmas.  Doris was gracious enough to give me a few days to prepare another project.  So without further ado, a Mystery Message Christmas Card...
Card Front looks like an ordinary Gate Fold
Card Back

Inside of card

So where's the Mystery?
Another card lurks inside containing a mystery message.

And here's the message from The Fat Man himself.

I borrowed a few new CTMH products** from my
to make this card with the promise that she could have the card for display at our next rapidly approaching
**CTMH Yuletide Carol Paper Pack (Some of the papers I didn't use for the card itself I used as background for taking the photos.)
**CTMH Stamp Set Merry, Merry Holiday
I also used some old CTMH paper for the Ho Ho Ho, which was cut using the CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge.

Personally, I think this is a really cool card fold.  And it is so easy!  I am definitely making more.  Don't you think it would be a neat Make & Take for the card show?  Would you sit down at a table to discover the mysteries of this card?  Please leave a comment and let me know.  I'd also be interested to know how much you would be willing to pay to make a card like this?

I  am entering this card in the following card challenges:
Jingle Bells Challenge - We Three Kings (use 3 different DP)
Dream It Up Challenge - Christmas and the Holidays
Red Rubber Inspirational Challenge #139 - Stay Focused on Stamping
ABC Christmas Challenge - S for Something festive (the wreath)
The Paper Shelter Challenge #175 - Card with many folds
Crafty Sentiments Design Challenge - Christmas in September
Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Favorite Tool (I love the look of ink distressing.  You can see I distressed almost every edge on this card, and there were a lot of them.  So I'd say my favorite tool was the spoinge dauber.)

Now the only mystery remaining is  (besides what I am making for dinner)  - when will the first mystery message birthday card appear on my blog?
If you aren't one of my 99 followers, I hope you don't miss it.

23 minute countdown

There are 2 very yummy oatmeal raisin cakes in the oven and I have less than 23 minutes until it is finished.  Hopefully I can get this posted before then.

We have had an interim pastor at our church for a year now.  Sadly he is leaving on Sunday, and my mother requested a card for him.

Inside it says, " Best Wishes, Thanks So Much, and Happy Retirement".  Our church was to be his last calling before he and his wife move to the Poconos and enjoy retirement together.  It will be beautiful there shortly with all the fall leaves.

For this card I've used all Penny Black rubber stamps and cut the leaves and acorns using the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge.

With minutes left on the over timer,I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Vintage Journey Challenge 15 - Colors of Autumn
Card Makin Mamas Challenge #89 - Ooh-la-la Vintage or Shabby Chic
 http://www.pinterest.com/pin/141581982010946404/

oh, no.... there goes the timer....  cake is still jiggly in the middle..... 4 minutes more

Oldie But A Goodie Challenge - Autumn (The stamp set is over 6 months old.)
PaperMinutes Challenge #340 - Colors of Autumn

There goes the timer again.  Guess I'm finished here.  I have a ton of dishes to which I must attend.  (I also made cookies before the cakes.  Although, they look nothing like the ones in the photo above. :>)

Birthday Magic

My older brother is celebrating his birthday on Sunday.  He'll be receiving this gate fold card in the mail.

The magician digi images are from the QKR Stampede Store.
The cake and Happy Birthday stamps are from the Craft Lounge set Granny's Secrets.  The  sentiment stamp is from Great Impressions.
Of course there's just a bit of bling and some sequins fastening the sandwich board, the front BG paper is embossed, the edges are distressed, and the coloring was done with markers.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Clear It Out Challenge - Birthday + Stash Item: something shiny (bling &sequins)
Eureka Stamps Challenge # 107- Vintage or Distressed (I chose distressed for the card; my brother is vintage!)
CCC Digi Creations Challenge # 9- Digi/Man in Your Life
My Sheri Crafts Challenge #142 - Birthday Celebrations

Get Well Fairy + CTMH card class 9/23/14

Today I have a get well card to share with you and a few of my favorite challenges.

This little fairy (actually she is only little because I sized her that way, an advantage of digital images) was a freebie image from A Day for Daisies.  She has been colored with markers and her wings have a coat of liquid glass to make them shine.  Her fairy dust are CTMH gems.   The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  I added a little color to the letters with markers and some faux stitching around the outside.  The background paper is embossed but it doesn't show up too well.  There are 2 rows of different lace across the front, a great find at a second hand craft store, and a bow to match.  Pearls at top and bottom complete the card.

And here are the challenges into which I am entering this card:
Artistic Inspirations Challenge #110 - Anything Goes or Pink for BCA
Crafting From the Heart Challenge #37  - Always Anything Goes
Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #123 - Ribbons/Lace & Pearls
Digi Sketch Challenge - Sketch and/or Get Well
Through the Purple Haze Challenge #60 - Stitching, Real or Faux
Whoopsi Daisy Challenge - Bling and/or Pearls
Sparkles Forum Challenge #60 - Things with Wings

 ***********************

Wait, please don't go yet.
I want to show you the cards we made yesterday at Joyce's CTMH card workshop.  These were all very simple cards using cuts from the CTMH cricut cartridges.

 Ok.
 Now you may leave.
I must go make dinner anyway.
Thanks for stopping by.

It's just a matter of time....

before I'll be outside sweeping leaves myself.   I think sweeping them outside is easier than cleaning the crunched up mess they become when drug inside on the bottom of your shoes.  Just a personal preference.

Here's the story that goes with the card above.  My intention was to make a card for the Autumn/Fall Challenge at House Mouse & Friends and combine it with the new sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

and the Critters Challenge at Lawnscaping.  But then I discovered I do not have a fall House Mouse stamp.  I remembered a cute fall Great Impressions stamp I do have and decided to use it for the two later challenges and maybe the current challenge at Great Impressions.  Well, that won't work because the GI challenge is 'Get Your Spook On' and this card is not exactly spooky.  So instead, I will combine it with the Autumnal Colors Challenge at Whimsy Doodles.

I've used my favorite CTMH paper from last year's Fall/Winter catalog, Huntington.  And my new CTMH 'hi' stamp, my previous one having met a watery death down the kitchen drain.

Mojo Monday

When I first looked at today's Mojo Monday Sketch, it just didn't grab me like they sometimes do.  I had colored a few digis yesterday but none of them seemed right for this sketch.  So I rummaged through my pile of digis and prestamped images and came across this one by Stamping Bella.  After a bit more rummaging in the paper pile I found a few papers that suited me.  The last thing I wanted to do this morning was to mess up that wonderful stamped image, so I decided to just outline it and add a touch of color to the flowers.

(I wish you could see the glitter of the yellow DP.  It's wonderful.)

I am submitting this card to the following challenges:

It's stuck in my head!!!!

And this time I'm not referring to the annoying head cold I've had for over a week!  What's stuck in my head is this children's song.....

A great gray elephant, a little yellow bee,
a tiny purple violet, a tall green tree,
a red and white sailboat on a blue sea,
all these things you gave to me,
all these things you gave to me,
Thank you, God.

and there are motions!

Now you might be wondering why this is stuck in my head, along with my head cold.
You might think I am just over medicating.
I assure you I am not.

The newest challenge, #84,  at Pumpkin Spice Challenge  Blog is
Elephants or Grey and Pink.   I think it is a wonderful theme, aside from the side effects.  I am hoping that once I get this card posted those side effects will disappear, although it is a cute song.

Now that I look at this card, I do believe I have a little bee brad that would look delightful on one of those flowers.  I will add it before sending to my niece for her birthday.  But you, my friends, will just have to imagine it because I am not taking another picture.
The digi image is Ellie from Tiddly Inks.

Besides the challenge at Pumpkin Spice, I am entering this happy little number in the following:
Come and Get It Challenge - Use 3 of Something (flowers)
Jellypark Friends Challenge - All About Pets and Animals
One Stitch at a Time Challenge #220 - Anything Goes with a Flower
Pile It On Challenge #38 - Shiny (balloons, thanks to a layer of liquid glass, and bling)
Di's Digi Designs Challenge - Add stripes or checks
Suzy Bee's Bloomin' Challenge #46- Anything Goes with Twist: Spots or Dots
The Alphabet Challenge - P is for Pretty Petals
Clear It Out Challenge - Crazy for Polka Dots w/ Stash item- polka dots

Now this is a conglomeration!

Check out all the things I removed from my messy crafting table, just by making this one card:
  • 1 piece of glossy cardbase.
  • 1 strip of card stock  8x2.5 (cut in half and pieced in the middle)
  • 1 piece of burlap I had previously cut but decided not to use
  • 1 piece of glossy paper that I had stamped with multiple stamp pads, spritzed with water, blotted and let dry hoping I could use it for something else but it didn't look right.  So I die cut a leaf out of it for future use and used the negative after mounting it on
  • 1 leftover piece of orange CS which turned out to be the perfect size to mat the negative
  • 1 piece of text weight kraft on which I stamped the CTMH turkey with Versa Mark and embossed it with SNS antiquities EP that I got out to use on yesterday's card
  • 1 already punched kraft paper circle, also stamped first the design in ink and then the sentiment with VM and heat embossed.
My tidying up is moving right along!

I may get back to tidying after entering this card in a few challenges:
Crafts 4 Eternity Recipe 194 - My Style (is to use everything and anything at hand)
QKR Stampede Challenge # 105 - Fall Colors
Simply Create Too Challenge #70 - Fall/Autumn
Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge - All Creatures Big and Small (turkey)
Crafting for All Seasons Challenge #86 - Colors of Autumn

Tidying up

was my main intention when I approached my craft/dining room table this morning.  With this miserable head cold, my brain is barely functioning and creating is just too much to ask of it right now.  Mindlessly putting things back where they belong was even a stretch and possibly dangerous.  I may never find those items again.  But, out of the chaos and mind fog, I did make this CAS card using the negative from a Cherry Lynn Designs die cut, a piece of glitter paper that was thankfully near the top of the paper pile, some fall ribbon (if you can see the gold leaves on it), an old, old, old CTMH sentiment stamp and some SNS antiquities embossing powder.
I cleared the negative off the table, but now I have EP, a heat gun, and stamp to put away.  This didn't work out the way I planned.

I might as well enter this in a few challenges:
Crafts 4 Eternity Recipe 194 - My Style (Since the title of my blog is "That Might Look Good on a Card", I guess My Style is just picking up something and finding a way to use it, like this negative.  The gals at my card club often bring me their negatives and wait to see just how I end up using them.)
Scrappyland Challenge #2 - Must use a die that Scrappyland sells (Cherry Lynn) and heat embossing.
Sparkle N Sprinkle September Challenge - Anything Goes with glitter, embossing powder or flock. (I used EP)
Cuttlebug Mania Challenge - Anything Die Cut

I think my cold needs a nap now.

Anniversary card

I've made this  anniversary card for my DH's sister and her husband.  They'll appreciate the pun.

The digital image is from Spyder's Other Corner, Dragonsmoore.  The sentiment is a stamp I borrowed from a friend.  I used Spellbinder's Nestabilities to make the gold foil frame.  Inside the card it simply says, "Happy Anniversary".

These fish are swimming into the follwoing challenges:
Cuttlebug Mania - Anything Die Cut
The Sailing Pineapple Challenge #17 - Use a Die Cut
Through the Craft Room Door Challenge - Sept 16-22 - Always Anything Goes

That's enough.  I have a head cold and my mind is not functioning.

Blue Ribbon...

is the name of the CTMH paper pack I've used to make this birthday card for a dear "blue ribbon" friend.
I followed this week's sketch

from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, which I'm beginning to like as much as Mojo Monday.  All the main papers are distressed and embossed.  I cut the butterflies using the CTMH Art Philosophy cricut cartridge.  The sentiment is also CTMH.

This card is fluttering into the following challenges:
Fantastic Tuesday Challenge #53 - Anything Goes with 2 shades of Blue
Sparkle's Forum Challenge #60 - Things with Wings
Bitten by the Bug 2 Challenge - Celebrate Cricut
Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Favorite Technique (mine is dry embossing!)
Glitter and Sparkle Challenge #102 - Use a punch (I used a punches for all 3 circles.)

Tuesday Throwdown Bows & Butterflies Challenge

I have been a fan of  Deedee's Digis  for quite a while now.  What a delight to have her sponsor the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge this week.  I've used a digi image from her Sunshine and Smiles set.  The first time I saw it I knew those fence posts were perfect for bows.  I've used a new butterfly embossing folder that I just picked up at the Westminster show last week-end.
My teammates have made some awesome cards using more of Deedee's fabulous digis.  Please stop over at the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge Blog, take a peek and give them some love.  They all work so hard.  And I know you'll want to check out Deedee's store and her monthly challenge, too.
Hope I'll see some of your Bows and Butterflies in the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge this week

You'll find this card entered in these other fun challenges:
Crafty Sentiments Designs Challenge - Autumn Colors
Just Inspirational Challenge  - Bows
Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Autumn (The kraft paper and baker's twine are my oldies.)

Mocha Mojo Monday Latte Anyone?

Yes, it is Monday.
Again.
For some of us that requires multiple cups of Joe,
although I prefer tea,
to get started.
It truly amazes me how long the lines are at places like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and even the mini-marts, just so people can get a cup of coffee.
For today's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card, I dug out an old (but favorite) HOP stamp set to make a coffee themed card which I could enter in the current challenge at Pumpkin Spice.  I hadn't used these stamps before (I generally use the tea related stamps in the set.) so that qualifies this card for the NBUS challenge, too.
Last week I received some fabulous Graphic 45 paper pads from Pumpkin Spice, which I recently won in their Freebie Friday giveaway.  To thank them I have used some of those papers for this card.  I double stamped the coffee cup, once on the circle and a second time on scrap.  The 2nd cup I embossed with clear embossing powder to give it the look of a ceramic mug before fussycutting and popping onto the 1st cup.

I am entering this card in the following:

Pumpkin Spice Challenge # 83 - Coffee or Coffee Color

NBUS Challenge #2 - Anything Goes + I chose option 4.
 Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)

Sparkle n Sprinkle September Challenge - Anything Goes (I've used embossing powder)
Robyn's Fetish Challenge #229 - Use an embossing folder

That reminds me....
This time of year Wawa always has a pretty good Pumpkin Spice Cappucino.  Mixed with the French Vanilla, it is awesome.
Looks like I'm done here.

Anything Goes at Love to Scrap Challenge

DRS Designs is the sponsor for the new,
They will be awarding the challenge winner a $10 gift certificate to the DRS Design Store.
Each Design Team member at LTS was generously given an image and by DRS to use for our inspiration projects.

I chose Pumpkin Bouquet and Mind and Prayers Greeting to make my card, suitable for a number of occasions.  I left room on the inside, under the pumpkin, to add a sentiment.  The bouquet was fun to color and easy to fussy cut.  And by die cutting the scalloped circle out of the card front, you see the gorgeous bouquet when the card is closed and open.

I hope you'll stop by the Love to Scrap Challenge Blog to see what my teamies made, check out their blogs and leave them some love.  And don't forget to enter a project in the challenge for a chance to win the $10 prize.

DRS Designs will be one of the Exhibitors at the upcoming
You can be sure, I'll be making a stop at their booth
when I can steal a few moments away from my Make and Take table.

Fall?

My DH said it is supposed to go down to 46 degrees overnight tonight.
Then he uttered the words electric blanket
I'm just not ready for that yet.

But I am going to share a "Fall" card with you today.
I was fortunate to win a few digis from QKR Stampede recently and I thought this one was very timely.
It is called Scarecrow and Leaves (digi 18806)  and can be found here.
My friend, Mickey, was the inspiration for this card.
fall stamp is CTMH

inside sentiment computer generated

This is my entry for these wonderful challenges:
Come and Get It Challenge - Use a Digi with an Autumn Theme
Milk Coffee Challenge - Colors of Autumn
Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Stitching (The paper was in my stash from last year.)

I forgot to show you the cute little monster I won in the raffle at the Christmas Card Extravaganza yesterday (see previous post for the great cards we made).   Isn't he cute?

A Great Card Day

Today my friend and CTMH consultant, Joyce Houck, held her annual Christmas Card Extravaganza. Those attending made 8 fabulous Christmas cards using some of this year's CTMH Christmas products.  Here's what we made:

I think everyone was pleased with this year's cards, not to mention the fact that we had taco soup for lunch which we all love (The recipe can be found on Joyce's blog, if you're curious.).
Thanks, Joyce, for a great day.
