I thought it was Monday! and CTMH Workshop 5/29/14

My sole reason for rolling out of bed rather than just rolling over in bed was to get started on my Mojo Monday card.  And then I realized it was Sunday.  Not to worry!  There are plenty of other challenges into which I can funnel my creative energy.

For example, if I make and enter one more card this month in the Heart 2 Heart Challenge I can get their Heart 2 Heart Addict Badge for my blog.  And someone at Inkspirational Challenges mentioned Pia was getting married!  Congratulations, Pia!!!

(All CTMH products)

Challenges:
Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
Inkspirational Challenge #83 - Purple + Wedding
Cuttlebug Mania Challenge - Bling (EF is by CTMH)

Graduation Banners + CTMH Workshop 5/29/15

Next to lime green, yellow is my favorite color to combine with navy blue.  For this CAS card I've used up some scraps (plenty more where they came from), added a few Woodstock graduation puffies, and a sentiment from CTMH.

Challenges:

Yesterday I went to Joyce's for a 10 card workshop that she had designed using the CTMH Blossom Paper and the coordinating Complements sticker pack.  Joyce really had some clever ways of using almost every sticker in the 2 sheet pack!

Here are 5 of the cards we made:

I'll show you the rest another day.

End of School Thank You #7

Using some vintage style paper and kraft CS, this thank you can go to just about anyone at school from the classroom teacher to the speech or trumpet teacher, the classroom aide, principal, even the poor janitor who gets the job of retrieving the kick balls off the roof.

The "Thanks" stamp is by CTMH and actually reads "Thanks a bunch".  I covered the part I didn't want to use with a piece of tape before inking, then removed the tape before stamping.  Easy Peasy.

Challenges:
DRS Designs Challenge #176 - Easy as 1-2-3 (1 star brad, 2 tags, 2 DP)
Always Playing with Paper Challenge #36 - Celebrating Teachers
Make My Monday Challenge - Use Kraft Card
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Thank You

Don't forget the school bus driver! Thank you card #6

It can't be easy concentrating on driving that big bus with 50 or so kids bouncing around in their seats behind you.  And they are yelling.  And sometimes they are throwing things.  And they might go on a little walk up the aisle for one reason or another.  Oh the poor driver!  He or she is not exactly transporting little angels with hands folded in their laps.
Today's card is for my grandsons' bus driver.

I really wanted to use this CTMH mustache stamp on one of the thank you cards.  I asked Matt if his or his brother's teacher was a man.  He said no.  So I asked if any of the woman teachers had a mustache.  Not exactly out of the realm of possibility.   The answer was still no.  I explained why I asked.  He thought for a minute and then, as if a light had turned on in his little 2nd grade head, he smiled and said the bus driver was a man.

Inside sentiment was computer generated; bus stamp is from a children's set of Melissa and Doug play stamps; gingham is a self sdhesive fabric tape; school bus dp was embossed; and red bling are candies.

Challenges:
Crafter's Cafe Challenge #118 - One for the Boys
Mod Squad Challenge - Masculine

Now we are off to see young Matthew portray Rudyard Kipling in the school's Wax Museum.  I believe he will be sporting a mustache himself.

End of School Thank You #5

This card will be suitable for one of the YMCA After School Program aides at my grandsons' school.  They need a big thanks, too.
I really had to dig deep in order to find a CTMH stamp that I liked for the current Tutti Fruiti Challenge at Heart 2 Heart.  I finally found this "berry" good stamp in an old booking set.
Other challenges I am entering today include:
Fan-Tastic Tuesday Challenge #87 - Anything Goes with a twist: add texture (twine & puffy flowers)
Creative Knockouts Challenge #90 - Sentimentally Yours

I'm working a card for the bus driver next.

Tuesday Throwdown Challenge # 246

Wow!  Tuesday kind of snuck up on me.
Guess it was the Monday holiday that threw me for a curve.

Tuesday Throwdown Challenge has an Anything Goes Theme for Challenge #246.  Our wonderful sponsor is Craft Classes Online.  I just won one of their classes in a blog hop and can't wait to try taking an online class.  Come join us at Tuesday Throwdown Challenge this week and you might be taking one too.
For my DT project I decided to use some papers and an image that came as freebies in a magazine to make this birthday card..  I made a Mother's Day Card using a little deer like this.  I had some small strips of DP left and wove them to make the background you see here.    A few weeks ago I used a piece of DP with this pattern printed in it and had several compliments on my weaving.  So, I thought I'd actually do it this time.
Sentiment stamp and wood butterfly are CTMH products.

Memorial Day Mojo & AHSC; End of School Thank Yous #3 & #4

The Baseball Tournament is over.  My grandson's team took Second Place out of 10 teams.  The boys did a really great job!

Of course, it is Mojo Monday.  I came home and got right to work on my Tall & Skinny Card, for
another Thank You Card for one of the boy's teachers.

While the creative juices were flowing and I was enjoying being out of the hot sun, I made Thank You Card #4 to enter in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 109.

That's all for today.
Stop by tomorrow for my Tuesday Throwdown Challenge Design Team  Inspiration.

End of School Thank You Cards #2

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.  The weather is just fabulous for my grandson's baseball tournament, which started Friday evening and finishes up tomorrow.  There are 10 teams playing.  Right now, our team is #1.  But they still have to get through 2 more games tomorrow before they collect the big trophies.  I've made 18 dozen cookies for the snack bar to sell.   And the kids just love those blue raspberry slushies, even though it turns their lips and tongues (sometimes their shirts) blue.  They look like smurfs walking around.
Needless to say, I've been a little busy which is why I have a quick and simple card to show you today.
I think this one will go to Nick's 4th grade teacher.
The stamp is from CTMH.

Challenges:
Creative Corner Challenge - Anything Goes
Creative Knockouts Challenge #90 - Sentimentally Yours
Love to Scrap Challenge #54 - Anything Goes

I'll be back tomorrow, after the baseball games are over, with my Mojo Monday Card which will also be Thank You Card #3.

End of School Thank You Cards #1

It's time to make those thank you notes for my grandsons' teachers, teacher aides, after school aides, and bus driver.  If I do one a day, I'll have all 7 finished in time.
For card #1 I've used the free digi Elephant and Gifts provided by Gerde Steiner Designs for the 72 hr. Weekend Challenge.

The image was printed on the card base and on dp; then paper pieced onto the card base.   Those tiny flowers sure were fun to fussy cut!  The 'Thank You' sentiment is a CTMH stamp.  Other sentiments were computer generated. There is room to write the teacher's name above the inside sentiment and space below to sign the card.

Other challenges:
My Sheri Crafts Challenge #157 - Graduation or School Related
Dragons Lair Designs Challenge - A Bouquet of Flowers
Sister Act Card Challenge #107 - Always Anything Goes

A Classic Birthday

My plans for this morning have been delayed until my DH returns from the golf course.  When he does, I am hoping to find my purse in his car.  It has started to rain a bit here, but a little rain won't bring him home any sooner.

Meanwhile, I'll share this card with you.
When all the gals gathered here for Mother's Day Lunch, my darling 14 month old great granddaughter randomly pulled this pre-colored card sheet out of my magazine basket.  (Now that Laila is walking she is discovering lots of interesting things, including my snack drawer in the kitchen.)  I didn't even realize it was mixed in with the magazines.  Instead of finding a new home for it, I just made up a card.  These are so easy.  Just a bit of cutting, some poppers for the layering, and a card base.

I'll enter this in the following challenges:
Crafting for all Seasons Challenge #102 - Birthday with 4 of something (4 square embellishments on the corners and 4 layers on the car)
Frilly and Funky Challenge - Happy, Happy, Happy! (finding great masculine cards makes me happy)
Whimsie Doodle May Challenge - One for the Men
2 Crafty Girls Challenge #3 - Vintage
Splendiferous Creations Bloggers Challenge - Rev It Up

Have a great day!
Sure do hope my purse is in my DH's car!

Can't Decide

Should I finish this card with a Birthday sentiment or a Father's Day sentiment?  The digital image by Deedee's Digis certainly works well for either occasion.

Dad Gets a Day Off  is the digi set for Deedee's Digis May Progressive Challenge
I knew I couldn't color this and make it look nearly as great as the precolored version I used.  (Although, I think I need to recalibrate our printer.)  The precolored images come in various skin tones and hair colors.   The papers were unearthed in my recent organizing frenzy.  And the little wood trinkets are CTMH, which I colored to match.

Here are a few more challenges I'm entering today:
Ooh La La Creations Challenge #180 - Use a Precolored Image

Today's Agenda:  Gardening at my Mother's; a stop for some milk and fruit; baking a cake; and watching a baseball game with my grandson pitching (wish them luck; it's a playoff game and so far they are undefeated)
I better get going.

Posting for Matthew

My 2 grandsons are here today since their school building is being used as a voting place.  Matthew, my crafting buddy, wanted to make something for Memorial Day.  We googled kids crafts and checked pinterest.  He decided he wanted to make a flag.  Scanning the Stand and Salute cricut cartridge book, he found several and decided on this one:

He cut the white map as a frame and then a plan red map for under it.  I handed him my box of solid scraps and had him look for a blue piece.  We cut it to size and he stamped the stars (CTMH stamp, white daisy ink)  He mounted the map on the chevron paper.  He has a pretty good eye for centering.  I don't get to help.  He is 8!  He wanted to use the eagle frame from the cricut cartridge but the map was too big.  So he just cut a plain eagle, added a googly eye and popped it onto the page.  Next I handed him my red, white, and blue box with goodies I pick up to use on OWH Hero Cards.  Matt added the chipboard self adhesive letters first, followed by the bling borders, fireworks stickers and more bling for in the centers.  It was looking so great I started digging in my closet.  All the way at the bottom I had stashed one of those scrapbook page frames.  He let me put the page in the frame.  He says he's giving it to his dad for Father's Day, but my guess is that his Dad will get it this afternoon.
I think he did a phenomenal  job!

I am entering it a few challenges for him:
Not Just Cards Challenge # 19 - Always Anything Goes

Now we are off to the movies.

Movin' on Monday

Lots of things to do today.  I laid out my Mojo Monday card before I was even dressed.   But, I was teaching a card class this morning and had most of my necessities packed and ready to go.   So assembly and posting had to wait until I returned home this afternoon.
I've used the May digital freebie, Stinkin' Cute, from Gerde Steiner to create this Father's Day card and will be entering it in the May Challenge.

Additional challenges for this card include:
Sentimental Sunday Challenge #259 - Funny or cute sentiment
Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #118 - Red, White & Blue with ribbon
Crafty Ribbons Challenge #119 - Animals with ribbon

And, while waiting for the 4th load of wash to dry,  I managed to dig through my newly organized scraps to find the colors I needed for the Color My Heart Color Dare #142 and make this card using the sketch for current Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 108.

OK.  Break is over.  I think I'll have just enough time to get the fresh sheets on the bed before I start dinner.

So much for my tulips!

Just a few weeks ago I was complaining because my tulips weren't even peeking through the ground because the weather was so cold for April.  They bloomed earlier this month but didn't last long with the hot weather we had last weekend.  It's another really warm spring day, perfect for my grandsons' baseball game and soccer match this morning.  Nick pitched a great 4 innings, throwing only 3 balls, the rest strikes.  He's so happy to be back in the game after being so sick!  And his team is happy to have him back since it is playoff time and they are undefeated so far.  Matt's team got pasted in soccer, but he still came off the field with a big smile.  Having fun is the whole idea after all!

I digress.
So sorry.
Back to tulips.

Imagine That!  Digis by Kris has provided last month's participants in their monthly challenge with a lovely, free digi image called Water Can Tulips to use this month.  I used the precolored image for the sake of expediency.

Papers, butterfly and preprinted tag are freebies from my Quick Cards Magazine.  Lace is from a second hand craft store.  Pearls and sentiment stamp are CTMH.  Image was die cut with Spellbinders scalloped oval die.  And I used a skittle to hold the tag in place.

Challenges:
Imagine That! May Challenge - Watering Can Tulips
Allsorts Challenge Week #311 - No Squares Allowed
Special congrats to Allsorts as they celebrate their 6th Birthday!  Oh to be 6 again!

Did you ever see a pileated woodpecker?

Yesterday afternoon I heard a very strange bird call in the backyard.  As I was looking all around to locate the source, my DH yelled, "Look at that bird on the tree stump!"
I took one look and headed into the house for my camera, while my DH went to get the bird book.  Thankfully, the bird didn't go anywhere.  Actually, he spent quite a while on the side of that tree stump, pecking into the side, removing sizable pieces of bark to uncover a colony of ants, and then enjoying an afternoon snack.  My DH identified it as a pileated woodpecker.
That's the biggest woodpecker we ever saw!

While on the subject of birds, I've used the From the Heart May Stamp of the Month, Apple Blossom Birds,  for my entry in their Progressive Challenge.  Every month you enter using their SOTM digi set entitles you to the next month's digi set for FREE.
The image is fussycut and popped.  I made a banner for the sentiment, added a smidge of blue on the white CS backing, a strip of washi tape, a few skittles, a charm and embroidery floss bow.

These are the challenges I am entering today:
From the Heart May Progressive Challenge - using Apple Blossom Birds
Patti's Creations Design Challenge #110 - Use a digital or stamped flower image
Creative Knockouts Challenge #89 - Washi Tape Wonders
Dream Valley Challenge #106 - Things with Wings

That's it for today.  I've got some shopping to do!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Today I am combining two challenges, The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 107 , and the Heart 2 Heart "Game On" Challenge with a card for my 10 yr old grandson, who just returned to the pitcher's mound after a pretty serious illness.  He pitched 3 innings on Saturday and only threw 3 balls.  The other team only scored 1 run while he was pitching, and his team won the game. (He gave me all the details on Sunday since I missed the game because of my Mother's Day Lunch on Saturday.) We are so happy he is playing again.  And he is ecstatic! It's been a rough couple of months and he's been a real trooper.  Definitely Amazing!

This card is also entered in these additional challenges:
Creative Moments Challenge #68 - Anything Goes; twist - teentastic
Fab n Funky Challenge #259 - Tag It
Crafting When We Can Challenge #94 - One for the Kids

Color Dare

With temperatures here in the 80's the last few days, it certainly feels more like summer than spring.  I've used a CTMH stamp set which came with the Chantilly Scrapbooking Workshop and the required colors for this week's Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #141 to make this summery card.

I am not a scrapbooker.  I'm mostly a cardmaker.  But there are times when the stamp set is available only in the CTMH Scrapbooking Workshops catch my eye.  This set was one of those.  There's no law that you must use the paper and stamps in a Scrapbooking Workshop specifically for scrapbooking.  There should, however, be a warning when one of the stamps is super hard to fussy cut.  I don't think I'll be fussy cutting these leaves again!   The scalloped circle cut is on the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge. The embossing folders are CTMH's trellis and Cuttlebug's dotted swiss.  Scalloped circle and card base are Kraft.

Mojo Monday on Tuesday + CTMH Cards 5/12/15

Things kind of got away from me yesterday and I didn't get my Mojo card finished until late evening when photo taking is not the best.  Using the sketch, I made another card with Red Hat colors, red and purple.  The rose bud is a digi from A Day for Daisies.

The rose bud paper in the background is velum; the sentiment is a CTMH stamp.

Challenges for this card include:

City Crafter Challenge Wee 261 - Focus on Flowers
Cards in Envy Challenge - When Nature Calls

Here are the cards we made at Joyce's CTMH class this afternoon:

It was a nice class today.
We missed Jan, Carol, Mickey and Gail.
And they missed the plate of yummy, calorie laden leftovers from my lunch on Saturday.
