Once again I'm using this week's Mojo Monday Sketch,  this time, to make a cute fall card for the Challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids.

Imagine That! Mojo Monday

Yesterday I printed up this cute colored digi and a small bit of matching patterned paper, both from Imagine That! Digis by Kris, in anticipation of this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Contest.  

This morning all I needed to do was fussy cut the digi image, add some liquid glass to the eyes, cut the sentiment into 3 pieces and attach it to the matching patterned paper, cut and emboss matching cs, add some enamel embellishments and a bow.  And voila' - a quick and easy birthday card.

The digi set is called Owl with Robin.

Winter Birthday

(Doodle Pantry Image & Sentiment - Winter Birthday Set)

Do you think using a snowflake embossing folder on snowflake designer paper is overdoing it a bit?  With the precolored digi image, making this card was quick and easy.  It will be perfect to send to one of my friends up north this winter when I'm enjoying warm, sunny Florida.

Doodle Pantry Tractor

Every year I make a special card for my cousin to give to her dad for his birthday.  They have a farm, so I try to use some type of a farm theme.   Her dad spent much of his life on a farm tractor.  I found this great tractor paper while in Florida last winter and the Doodle Pantry digital set Tractor Sheep had the perfect tractor image to go with it.  I used the precolored version here.

Memories of my Dad

As I made this card it reminded me of my Dad.  When we were kids, if you got a splinter, you had two options for removal... a sewing needle in the hands of my mother or the super sharp tweezers Dad kept in his woodshop.  (If Dad had something he didn't want to lose, he kept it in the woodshop.  He also kept his own roll of scotch tape and a scissors.)  Dad was much better at splinter removal.   I can still see him emerging from the basement, always ready to help, carrying - not the tweezers which were in his back pocket- but a huge machete.   He always thought it was so funny.  As we got bigger, the sight of the machete no longer made our eyes get big or sent us running to Mom.  I'm sure that one of the joys he experienced as a grandfather and great-grandfather was, once again, being able to remove splinters for his wide-eyed progeny.

Smell the Daisies

 
Yesterday I thought I'd try making and using my own stencil.  I cut several sizes and shapes of flowers out of a sheet of paper using the Cricut and CTMH Artiste Cartridge.  The flowers are still on the cricut mat to be used later.  The negative became my stencil.  I taped it to a sheet of white CS and, using ink and a sponge dauber, I added the flowers creating my own background paper.  Next I debossed the paper with a daisy embossing folder.  It was kind of a whoopsie because I meant to emboss it but put the paper in upside down.  But I really like how it turned out.   And it works well as background for this digital image and sentiment from Doodle Pantry's Floral Hats set.

Doodle Pantry Challenge

My mother and I went to a local craft show today.  Several crafters had wonderful homemade cards.  It just  put me in the mood for getting out paper and glue.  

I've used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches Challenge # 169

 

  and a digital image from Doodle Pantry.  The current Doodle Pantry challenge, Ants in the Pantry Digital Challenge #1, has a Milk Theme with an option to use buttons or brads.  And, just for fun, I decorated the envelope, too.

Top Tip Tuesday Challenge - Keep It Simple (Since I'm on the road,  I only have a few supplies.  I picked up a pack of buttons for this card, but I used dental floss to thread it. The wax on the floss makes it easy to thread through the holes and the bow stays in place nicely.)

My friend actually did this!

She was so thrilled with how her handmade gingerbread house looked, she put it in her attic to save for the next year.  

Yes, she needed to call an exterminator!

I just love when those sweet memories of our inexperienced youth surface and give us a little chuckle!  My thanks to Doodle Pantry for this free digi set and the chuckle it gave me. I've used the colored image today, CTMH papers, a store bought doily, and some cute candy stickers from MS.

I bet you were expecting to see the bear project my grandson and I made yesterday afternoon in his 4th grade classroom.   It was a fun afternoon and wonderful to see so many moms, dads, grandma's and grandpa's there to help.  The project was to make a Travel Mate, in this case a bear.  The children each have a journal to keep detailing the travels of their bear from now till spring.  After distributing small bears to each child, the students were free to name, dress and personalize their new travel mate.  The adults were on hand for assistance and to use the hot glue guns.

Inspired by a card on Pinterest by made by Stampin Mary, I used the fussy cut colored ants on bells image from Doodle Pantry on the top of this card and the DP sentiment on the bottom.  DP and black glitter trim are CTMH.  Another quick card and post as I'm headed to the hairdresser for highlights and a new do.  That's why I'm making cookies.  It's good to have a happy, alert hairdresser when you're getting a new do.  These chocolate, chocolate chip cookies should take care of both.

Upright Diamond Fold Card

Scrapbook Blessings Club Challenge #31 is an Anything Goes Challenge this week, but they are featuring an Upright Diamond Fold Card.  I followed the written instructions available at Splitcoast Stampers to make this card, although there is also a video available at the Scrapbook Blessings Club Blog.

Whew! What an exhausting week-end!

If you follow my blog, you know that this past week-end I was at a Stamp, Scrap, Art Tour Show in Westminster, MD, teaching Make & Takes for my friends, Joyce and Betty, at the Close to My Heart booth.   The combined heat and humidity was exhausting all by itself.  Friday was a travel and set-up day with a Make & Take Party in the evening.  Here is the cute little M&T that Joyce and Betty taught while I stayed in the booth to get the product on the shelves. 

 We didn't leave the building until 10:30pm, anxious to get to the motel and get much needed showers. It was almost time for lights out, when we had an uninvited guest scurry across the desk.  Which is why, close to midnight, we ended up in the hall, in our lovely jammies, with all our belongings enroute to a new room.

Saturday the stampers were lined up at the door early, eager to see what all the vendors had in their booths.  Our booth was the very first one and we were immediately busy.   

Here is Saturday morning's Make & Take, a pop up slider card very similar to one I designed and posted a few weeks ago but using some new CTMH papers.:

Saturday was another hot, humid day.  Luckily a storm came through late Saturday afternoon, so Sunday was a much more comfortable day.  Sunday I taught this side step card designed by Joyce:

It was a fun weekend, though exhausting.  And I did sneak away from our booth long enough to make a few purchases.  One of those purchases was the embossing folder I used for my Mojo Monday card below:

The folder is by Darice and is called quilt.  I had seen it used on a card on someone else's blog and immediately put it on my shopping list.  The precolored digital image and sentiment are from the set Pumpkin Peeps by Doodle Pantry.  The papers are CTMH.  I've never used the colored digis before, but they sure are handy if you don't have the time to color.

Cascade Card

Once again, the tutorial posted yesterday at Beccy's Place sent me straight for some paper, this time to make a cascade card.  You really have to check out her card because the papers she used are gorgeous and the card stunning.  I rifled through the pile of digis I had printed to use this month and pulled out a digi and sentiment from Doodle Pantry called Bird Bath Joy to make my own cascade card for Doodle Pantry's July Challenge.  Too bad I missed the challenge deadline.   But I'll show it to you anyway.

I've used the sketch from this week's Mojo Monday Challenge #345 

 

and a digi image from Doodle Pantry called Petite Bouquet, last month's freebie for using one of their images in their challenge.   I'll be submitting this card to their current challenge, because this month's free digi set will be great for a guy card.

To make this card I printed the digi 3 times and colored all three the same.  Then I used a die cut to cut the 4 circles from the extra copies and fussy cut the bow.  I just used a punch for the black circles.  Then I glued 2 bordered circles flat to the image, popped the other 2 and the bow and used another punch for the corners.  I gave it a spritz of Sparkle Mist and set it aside to dry.  I placed a strip of washi tape up the left side of the card base, popped the image on the right side, and added the computer generated birthday banner. (The set includes sentiments for couple, friend, bride, sister, sister-in-law, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, thanks and in memory.  But no godmother.)

Dad Card

It's tough to find good masculine stamps.  That's why I really like this image and sentiment from Doodle Pantry.  I'm not saying that us gals can't enjoy a day of fishing.  But the fishing theme does make a nice guy card.  I haven't decided whether I'll finish the inside of this card with a Father's Day or a Birthday sentiment.  It would work for either.

This card is my April submission for the Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #24.  It's an Anything Goes Challenge, as usual.  But,  participants in the challenge who use a Doodle Pantry image (not just sentiment), are emailed a set for FREE and  are also entered in the prize drawing.  This month's free set is the Petite Bouquet, perfect for some Mother's Day cards.  It's a really great deal, their images are easy to work with, and by telling you all this I just cut down on my own chances of winning.  Forget I mentioned it.
