Card for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This Bugaboo digi image was printed directly on pink card stock and would have made a lovely one layer card.  But, I have a difficult time leaving well enough alone.  By printing it a second time, I could fussy cut the flower petals and layer them onto the base image with foam tape for dimension.
I added a bit more shading to the roses with a marker and gave the entire card a good spritz of Tattered Angels pink glimmer mist.
In the photo you can only see a few spots here and there, which sort of looks like I sneezed on the card.  But it really has a great sparkle to it, especially with the white shimmer trim.
Challenges:
Catch the Bug Theme Challenge - Breast Cancer Awareness
The Corrosive Challenge #10 - Pink for Awareness
In the Pink Challenge #104 - Flower Power
Time Out Challenge #67 - Breast Cancer Awareness (optional embossing and/or pink)

Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.   I wish there weren't a need for this type of card but sometimes there is.

Inside sentiment:
You've got this girlfriend!
And I'm here to help you
in any way that I can!

The digital image, Kitty with a Ribbon, is from Sami Stamps.  There is an entire Think Pink Category of digi stamps.  My favorites are the adorable animal stamps (the new Kitty in a cup release is so sweet).  I just love the wispy quality of her designs.
The stitched circle dies are from La La Land.

Challenges:
Polkadoodle Challenge Week 43 - Add Sparkle, Bling or Glitter
Sami Stamps Challenge 30 - Anything Goes

Fundraiser Digi + CTMH Card Class 7/21/15

There are a lot of prayers being said for Debbie Lynch, (mother of Heather Dennis, owner of Fresh Brewed Designs) who is undergoing surgery today for a rare form of cancer.
Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.
If you'd like to know more about the fundraising effort to help with medical costs, you can read about it here.

I've used one of the special fundraiser digis, Sunny Day with Friends, to make this sweet card:

I've been meaning to send a card to a family member who is also undergoing cancer treatments.  So here's a card, featuring a Fresh Brewed Designs digi, Latte Awareness, for her:
Challenges into which this card has been entered are:
Word Art Wednesday Challenge #193 - Anything Family Friendly Goes
Inky Chicks Challenge #54 - Use a Metal Embellishment (I've got 5 at the top and 5 more at the bottom.)
Shopping Our Stash Challenge #211 - Don't get stressed, get de-stressed (Making cards is how I destress.  A nice iced coffee helps, too.)
*Praying all goes well with Debbie's surgery today.

***************
I'm surprised we got any cards made yesterday.
Why?
Because Joyce had the NEW Close to My Heart Catalogs!
Eventually, we did get down to business and made these 4 cards.

I wish I could have 1 of everything in the new catalog!

Tuesday Throwdown Challenge

Oh my.  This should have posted hours ago but I forgot to hit the "Publish" button.  My apologies if you've been looking for my Tuesday Throwdown DT card.

The theme for Tueday Throwdown Challenge #217 is "Awareness" to coincide with October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  However, so many of us are touched by different cancers, diseases, and difficulties that the theme encompasses them all.
Our wonderful sponsor this week, Bugaboo Digi Stamps,
has such a variety of wonderful digi images that the Tuesday Throwdown Design Team has been able to give you a lot of inspiration.  Please check out their projects.  You will be amazed.
I've used a digi image called Block Sentiments-Hope

to make a more masculine card for three reasons.
  • Men can and do get breast cancer.
  • It isn't easy for the men in our lives to watch their gals go through cancer and other difficult treatments.
  • And, thirdly, John Wayne was my father's favorite actor.

This card is also entered in the following challenges:
Crafting from the Heart Challenge #40 - Always Anything Goes
Craft Your Passion Challenge #235 - Where There's Hope
Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #125 - It's Only Words
Word Art Wednesday Challenge #153 - Anything Goes

Imagine That!

This card is for the Imagine That! October Progressive Challenge using the digital set called Let's Squash Cancer in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The set is adorable.  Thanks, Kris!  I kept the card pretty simply because I didn't want to detract from the DP I found in my stash.

Busy day with my grandsons!

They arrived at 7:30am with pumpkins to carve, and they were starving, and they wanted to play ball, and go to the movies, and do crafts, and print coloring pages off the computer to color, and they were starving and dying of thirst, and they wanted to do another craft.......
And believe it or not, I managed to get a card built, a bit here and a bit there, throughout the day - the tag made when we did shrinky dinks, the coloring while they ate, and the final touches just now after they went home.
I wanted to get a card together for the Creative Knockouts: #5 - CASE Study Challenge.  I decided to CASE Amy's card because I liked the layout and the way she edged and colored her image.  I did change it from a square card into an A2 card so I could fit it in an envelope not requiring additional postage.
So here is Amy's card using a Bugaboo Digi Image:
And here is my card using a Digi Image by Beccy Muir which I fussy cut and then attached to the white distressed CS:

Wood heart is a CTMH Trinket Wood Shape colored with brown marker.

Close up of the shrinky dink tag.  CTMH sentiment stamped with StazOn ink.

Before making my dinner and heading to Joyce's evening card workshop, I am going to quickly enter this in the following challenge:
3rd Annual Link up for Pink Linky Party
Wags N Whiskers Challenge #114 - Breast Cancer Awareness
Bearly Mine Challenge #107 - Ribbon/String/Twine
Creative Card Crew Challenge #46 - Make or use a tag

Some pictures from our busy day:
Not to worry, Nana handled the knife part of this project.

Nick built his own ballpark with megablocks and a baseball game we have.  See all the guys in the dugouts?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Mojo Card

As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I decided that today I would create my Monday Mojo card with that in mind.

If anyone can identify the origin of this digi stamp, please post it in the comments section.  I don't remember where I picked it up.  It was quite a while ago, before I developed a filing system for keeping my digital stamps.  My apologies to the artist.

Congratulations to Fit Kitty!
She recognized this lovely over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder as an image by Beccy Muir.
You can find it here.
Thanks Kitty!

Crafty Ribbons Challenge #64 - Anything Goes with a Ribbon
