Double Trouble Challenge #11 - Card 2

Last week I made a card for the Double Trouble Challenge, but opted not to use the twist.  I really felt bad about letting twisted sister down.  I hope I can make it up to her with this card.

For Trouble Maker I've used Black & White and only one other color.
For Double Dare I am also entering the Crafter's Cafe Challenge.
Most importantly, for Twisted Sister I've included a guy's wheelie toy.
And just for good measure
(actually, by mistake because I forgot it was supposed to be for a guy, and what guy has a thistle colored VW with little white flowers?
here's a more feminine version.

The stamp set with VW die is from Taylored Expressions.
I used a CTMH stamp to add the flowers to the black and white polka dot background paper.

Challenges I am entering
Double Trouble Challenge #11 - Black & white + one; entry in Crafter's Cafe Challenge; wheelie toys
Crafter's Cafe Challenge - Black & white + one
Scrapbook Stamp Society Challenge # 151 - AG w/ option for boys/men
Crafty Chicks Challenge #423 - Something Old is New Again (I've had this stamp set for years.)
Dies R Us Challenge #106 - AG with a Metal Die (I've used an old die from TE)

This is my second post for today.  Come back later tonight to see what I made for the October Joyful Stars Blog Hop.

Looking for a map....

Another of the challenges at Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog this month is "Around the World: Maps".  Monday night I laid awake taking a mental inventory of my CTMH stamps.  I don't have one map stamp.  I have arrows, a compass, a globe with graduation hat, but no maps.  I wanted a map.    Joyce has been a CTMH consultant for 20 years, certainly she would have a map stamp in her drawers and drawers of stamps.  Tuesday, when I got to Joyce's for class, I asked if she had a map.  Joyce did confirm that a map stamp did exist but couldn't put her fingers on it.  So I started searching through the CTMH paper packs and finally found some map paper to make this card....
(All CTMH products, except the embossing powder.)
I am very disappointed in the way the embossing turned out.   Usually you can just tap the back of the paper to remove the excess powder, or give it a light blow.  I even used a fine paint brush to remove what I could, but that powder was really sticking.  I think it might have been a humidity problem.  Is that possible?  That's what I get for trying to emboss directly on the patterned paper.

Here are a few more challenges I've entered with this card:
(I've used the center row: Sentiment, Stamped Image, Brads)
Allsorts Challenge Week 316 - Use a stamp, not a digi
Connie Can Crop Challenge #35 - That's How I Roll

I have one more card to post for the June Heart 2 Heart Challenge so I can retain my Addict status,  but that will have to wait until after a certain individual receives it in the mail.

Over at Double Click Skittles there is a new Design Team being introduced and the members are showing off their craft spaces this week.  I am so envious.  It doesn't look like any of them also eat Thanksgiving dinner in their well organized play rooms!   Double Click Skittles Challenge #25 is "Show us your craft space".   Here's my craft aka dining room...

This is relatively tidy today.  I keep all my essentials on the wood tray so I can easily move it if we want to actually dine on the dining room table.  The box on the table is a shipment of cards I'm preparing to send to Send a Smile 4 Kids.
For now I have one end of the table cleared for a few sewing projects.  I'll show them to you when they are finished.  Below is the jewelry box my Dad made me when I was a teen.  I have a few past projects displayed on the top and all the little drawers are great for storing skittles, brads, buttons, charms and other little items.  The cabinet underneath has paper, bling, misc. and sewing supplies.  On the floor to the left are boxes of stamps and a basket of magazines and to the right are my boxes of scraps, one solid color CS and one patterned paper.

The remainder of my stash is mostly in the spare bedroom closet.  If we have overnight guests, they won't be hanging anything in that closet!   Thanks for stopping by!

Time for some errands.

Wheely Cute Cards at Love to Scrap Challenge Blog

For the current challenge at Love to Scrap Challenge Blog, I've made a set of 3 CAS cards.
Our wonderful sponsor, Taylored Expressions, gave all DT members a petite stamp set of their choice and I chose the Taylored Expressions Petite Stamp Set Wheely Great with Coordinating Die.  Since the set came with 3 stamps, 3 sentiments, and the VW die, I thought I'd make a set of 3 cards so you could see them all.  No fussy cutting needed with this set.

Taylored Expressions is awarding one lucky challenge winner a petite stamp set of their choice.  I hope you head on over to the Love to Scrap Challenge Blog and check out the other great cards the DT members madeAnd you might want to take a look at the great sets available in the Taylored Expressions store.  That should give you plenty of inspiration when you are making your card for

Create with TLC Image #3 + CTMH card workshop 9/30/14

Create with TLC is having a Progressive Freebies Challenge to celebrate World Card Making Day.  The party started on Saturday and I am trying to catch up.  There are 12 freebies available but you must make something with each before you receive the next.
Here's my third card for the challenge:

I also printed the image in off white because I was going to color and paper piece the fairy onto the green CS.  I kind of liked it just like this, so I didn't bother.  Other items used include a spellbinder's die,  the vellum, which I embossed, the music washi tape, black twine up the side, silver and black ribbon, a staff charm, and some glitter gel for the fairy wings which I did piece and then pop with foam tape.

Now I am off to collect the 4th image from Create at TLC.

Frosty Fun + CTMH Card Workshop 1-14-14

Don't ask me why, but I decided to make a card to enter the Challenge #193 at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.  The theme is Winter Fun and a cricut cut is required.  I found this frosty fun cut out on the Close To My Heart Artbooking Cartridge.  I cut it out of plain white CS and then covered it with glitter gel.  The penguin stamp is also CTMH.

I am also entering this card in a these challenges:
Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Give me a C-T-M-H  (I used the Cricut, Tombo adhesive, kraft paper Mat,
  glittered Hills.)
Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #206 - Winter Wonderland
Mod Squad Challenge - Snow
Stamp n Doodle Challenge #2 - Use an animal (I'm hoping a penguin qualifies as an animal, although is it technically a bird?  But is a bird considered an animal?  I don't know.  Perhaps I'll google it when I'm finished.  I better google it now.  BRB  OK I'm good.  This is what I found:  "A penguin is a bird and an animal. It belongs to the class Aves (birds), which is within the kingdom Animalia (animals)." That means I'm good and I learned something today.

Before I go, here are the cards we made at Joyce's CTMH card workshop yesterday using the January Stamp of the Month and lots of CTMH washi tape.

I'm Back from the Show with Lots of Crafting Mojo

I spent the weekend in Edison NJ doing Close to My Heart Make & Takes at the Stamp Scrap Art Tour show.  I have a bunch of stuff to do today, unpacking, 3 days of newspapers, mail, cat litter, etc.  But, you know me.  I gotta do my Mojo Monday card first thing.   So I'm going to post this card I made for Grace, who went into the hospital while I was away.

Here is today's Mojo Monday #318 Contest sketch:

I flipped it sideways to make this card featuring one of my favorite stamps by Great Impressions:

(My Mind's Eye DP, SU embossing folder, CTMH ribbon, Michael's flowers)
I am also entering this card in these challenges:
Brown Sugar Challenge #66 - Things with Wings

Now let me tell you about the show.....
For the first time I went to the Friday Make & Take Party.  In the past, I was still in the process of stocking our booth when the M&T Party started.  But we all worked our butts off (not literally, of course, or it would have been much more comfortable in the teeny tiny IHOP booth where we had breakfast on Sunday) and had everything for the show all ready in plenty of time for Laurie, Erin & I to attend.
We made 8 different items, moving from table to table every 15 minutes.

Everyone attending received a goodie bag and a raffle ticket.  Below is a photo of the adorable bear with cookie jar stamp I won, surrounded by the goodies that I found in my bag.
I almost forgot to mention the fantastic dessert table they provided for us and which we enjoyed immensely!

One more photo for today....

This is my version of the make and take that was being offered in the Stamplistic booth at the show.  You could choose from a variety of designs, cut and place them wherever you chose, and glitter and bling according to your own taste. With a pin back added, there were some gorgeous creations being modeled throughout the show.  I couldn't resist stealing away from our booth to make one myself.

The Stamp Scrap Art Tour will return to Edison the first weekend in November, 2014.  Mark your calenders! And to see other locations where they will be having shows, go to their website here.

Tomorrow I'll show you the Make & Takes that I taught at our Close to My Heart Booth.

Singing in the Rain

Well, I'm not really singing.  I have a busy weekend planned and the rain won't make it more pleasant, that's for sure.  Tomorrow Joyce and I are starting out early and heading for York, PA to meet up with Betty and Laurie for the Heirloom's Rubber Stamping and Paper Arts Festival there.  We'll spend most of tomorrow, probably until they kick us out, setting up the Close to My Heart booth.  The show is open Saturday and Sunday.  I'll be at my usual station, the make and take table.  There are 4 great projects planned to make at the show.  Please stop by and say hi!

In honor of the rain, I put together this card using a Nana Vic digital image from CDACP and a CTMH sentiment.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:
Southern Girls Challenge - Sing, sing a song, sing it loud..... (My song would be Singing in the Rain.)
Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge - It's Anything Goes Time

You Who?

When I first saw this digi image at Avery Elle, I thought it would be perfect for a gate fold card.
And their current sketch is also perfect for a gate fold.
So I made one:

I will add a fitting sentiment to the inside when I decide who is the 'you'.

In the meantime, I am entering it in the following challenges:

Avery Elle AEI 'heart' U August Challenge

Charisma Card Challenge #33 - More than one fold
Crafty Ribbons Challenge #58 - Anything Goes with a Ribbon
Fab 'n' Funky Challenge #182 - You Can Stick It (The center doily on the gray circle is a stick on)
Whimsical Designs Challenge - Just Add Glitter (I used CTMH glitter gel all around the outside of the For You tag)
Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge #141 - Dies and Punches
Craft Room Challenge - Something New (The orange BG and multicolor doily papers are from a paper pack, Victorian Garden by Echo Park, I just got.)
Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Embossing (The orange bling is from some blog candy I won at Halloween last year.)

Ouch, that hurt!

I whacked my little toe on the nightstand while making the bed yesterday morning!  Must be why I have back and blue on my mind.   It does make a pretty color combination for making cards.

This card follows the sketch and is my entry for the current Avery Elle AEI 'heart' U August Challenge.

The framed sentiment on this card is a free digi from Avery Elle which I printed and fussy cut.  After masking the inside oval, I used a dauber to color the outer frame.  To make the patterned background paper, I inked the inside of the embossing folder before inserting the paper and running it through my Cuttlebug.  I hope you can see the strip of black self-adhesive glitter tape I added to the embossed black strip.  It took me about 5 minutes to get the backing off that tape!

With the right inside sentiment, I'm thinking I'll use this as an Anniversary card.   But I think it would make a nice birthday card, too.

I'm also submitting this to the following challenges:
ABC Challenge #41 - Lots of Layers
Make It Monday #154 - Always Anything Goes
Stamp and Create August Challenge - Glitter
Glitter and Sparkle Challenge #46 - Anything but Square
HobbyCutz Challenge #13 - Make your own background
Pile It On #33 - No Designer Paper
Robyn's Fetish #173 - Put a Frame around It

By the way, I added embossing and gems to yesterday's Mojo card.  What do you think?

Off to Joyce's card workshop today.  I'll post our cards tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by!
