Fishing Anyone?

When I ordered this digi image from Pattie's Creations Digital Stamps,  I knew I'd be using it for my brother-in-law's birthday card.   I added some dry embossing to the green panel and heat embossed the sentiment.  The image is colored with pencils, fussy cut.  The fishing creel and boots and glued to the CS, while the fish is raised with some foam tape.  I used an ultra fine brown marker for the faux stitching.  Of course I used today's Mojo Monday 306 Sketch:

and will be entering the card in the Mojo Monday Challenge.

Going around in circles!!!

A relatively quick card and post today because I'm trying to do a zillion things at once.  Our Elliott family reunion is tomorrow, so that means I'm baking a cake and making a big pot of baked beans.  I'm getting ready for a card class I'm teaching Monday.  It's laundry day because I won't have a minute to do it next week.  Thank heavens it's just my DH and me filling the basket!  I had to run to the local farmer's market and grocery store....  and I am too easily distracted by other little things.

My card was quick because I grabbed the top sheet of DP in the box, found some CS to match, a couple of circle punches and one of the cute little stamps I got from Joyce for doing my 'homework' last week.  I even found the bow already made in my candy jar where I throw little bits of this and that.

And there you have it.

I'll quickly enter this in a couple challenges and get back to the zillion things I'm supposed to be doing today.

Sister Act Card Challenge #19 - Anything Goes
Just For Fun Challenge #1 - Anything Goes

Using some cricut scraps

I love scraps.  I just can't bear throwing paper away.  If you read my blog regularly (if you don't, why not become a follower?), you've seen all kinds of 'scrappy' cards.  My friend Joyce always has a pile of very interesting scraps and I often come home from her card workshops with a little something from her trash.  Often what I find looks something like this:

A negative sheet of cardstock from which tags, circles or other objects have been cut.

Thanks to the new Artbooking cricut cartridge that Close to My Heart has just released, Joyce's scraps have changed.   Here is a new layout she just posted on her blog using the new cartridge:

When she cut this layout, she very graciously gave me the scraps which looked like this:

I used them to make this background:

I added a few doilies I cut using the CTMH Artiste cricut cartridge, did a little stamping, distressing and embossing, and finished it off with ribbon and bow.

Now I'm going to submit it to the following challenges:
The Perfect Sentiment Challenge #86 - Use Your Favorite Technique (working with scraps and embossing)
Brown Sugar Challenge #54 - Anything Goes
Ladybug Crafts August Challenge - Something Floral
Emma's Crafty Challenge #19 - Floral

Back to School

Principals and teachers start back to school in Pennsylvania shortly.  My son called yesterday to give me a list of dates my grandsons would need to visit us while he and his wife attended in-service days and various meetings in preparation for the coming school year.  Where did the summer go?

Here's a card, using a cute bookworm digi by Pattie G, I made for all the current challenges with a Back to School theme.

SNAP!! We're Sassy!!!!

Yesterday at Joyce's card workshop we were joined by Eileen's teenage granddaughter, Hannah.  What a delight to have her with us.  She was pretty quiet at first, but after listening to us old chicks and our routine banter Hannah declared,  SNAP! you girls are SASSY!   We are definitely sassy and proud of it!!!!  Thanks for joining us, Hannah!

Last fall I won some blog candy which included a House Mouse stamp along with some other cute fall items.   August 31st is Operation Write Home's deadline for Halloween cards.  So it was finally time to try out my new stamp.

The current challenge theme at House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge # 150 is Heat Embossing.
I stamped the image in VersaMark and used black detail embossing powder to make it stand out and   also stamped an extra hat to emboss, fussy cut and pop.  After coloring the candy corn, I used a Penboss Embossing Pen to go over it and then heat embossed with clear EP to give it a shine.  It didn't start out to be an easel card, but the piece of orange CS I found wasn't quite large enough for a standard A2 card but it was large enough for an easel card.  I love orange, purple and black together.  I also love candy corn!  It's pure sugar.... what's not to love?

Besides entering this card in the #HMFMC150, I am submitting it to these other challenges:
Crafty Sentiments Design Challenge - Animals
Loves Rubber Stamps Challenge #64 - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door Challenge Aug 6-12 - Anything Goes
