Snowman

Good thing we got our main computer back, because now my laptop is acting strangely and I can't use it to write my blog posts.  So I'm quickly posting at my DH's desk this evening.

I am grateful that the rain we have had today is just that and not more snow.  This is the type of snowman I like --  a cute digi image, perfect for a winter all occasion guy card.

Sunday Night Reminder to Self:

If you need to get up in the middle of the night, for any reason,
don't sneak a peek at the Mojo Monday Sketch or you won't get back to sleep!

I shouldn't have peeked!
And after I did, I should have just made the card and gone back to bed.
Instead I played 3 Scrabble games on my Kindle at 5 am while I mentally constructed this card:
Then the cat and I slept on the living room chair for an hour or so before I got up and actually made it.
I'll be drinking a lot of tea today, I'm afraid.

I had printed, colored and glittered this Gerda Steiner digi image last week but never put it on a card.
Then yesterday I realized I missed the deadline for her challenge
(which my friend Kitty won - Congrats, girlfriend!).  So I sat it out to use on my Mojo Monday card today.  The sentiment is a CTMH stamp.  The BG is more of the text weight kraft paper I bought by mistake, distressed with chocolate CTMH ink, faux stitched with marker, and mounted on standard white CS.  Just a few tiny dazzles were used as accents.

So without further chit chat, I am entering this card in:

Our Creative Corner Challenge - No More Shopping Sins (kraft 'text' paper)
Robyn's Fetish Challenge #194 - No patterned paper, CS only
Cards in Envy Challenge - Snowbody Like You Challenge
Time 4 Scrap Challenge #31 - Any Color with Silver or Gold

Now what shall I do today?

Sweet!

This is my second post for today, as I'm waiting for wash to dry before heading to my Mom's for our weekly 4 o'clock Sunday tea.
Today's my son's birthday.  I called him at exactly 12:12pm (the time he was born)  to wish him a happy birthday.  I've been doing that since he went away to college, almost 20 years ago.  I didn't realize how much he enjoyed getting that call until one year I forgot.  I won't do that again!!!

It's funny the things that you don't realize.
You don't realize how often you don't center things on a card, until you try to make a card centering everything.  That's the challenge this week at Meljen's Design Team Challenge #192 - Bullseye.
I've used a freebie digital image from Meljen's because this guy is just too adorable.  Brown and red is a favorite combination of mine so I've used some of the kraft text paper I bought by mistake (I thought it was CS.) and layered it with some red glitter paper.  I used a Darice EF on the background but chose to use the debossed side for a different look.  The ribbon is one of my favorites and is almost gone, so I just used one inch pieces to conserve.  (I also cut rectangles out of the center of the red glitter paper to use later.  Why just cover up useable materials, especially when they are a little pricey or in short supply?)

Besides Meljen's Challenge, I am entering this in:
Robyn's Fetish Challenge #194 - No pattern paper
Allsorts Challenge Week #241 - Ribbons (no bows)
My Heart Pieces Challenge - Anything Goes

The dryer just buzzed!  I'll be back tomorrow with a Mojo Monday card.

Pattie's Quilted Heart

This adorable quilted heart was this month's 1st Friday Freebie at Pattie's Creations.  Thanks, Pattie!!
And it is perfect for the Pattie's Creations Design Challenge #83.  The theme is Stitching, Real or Faux.   After coloring and fussy cutting the heart, I used  some scraps for the BG and borders and a CTMH sentiment stamp.

I'm also entering this card in the following challenges:
Hiding in My Craft Room Challenge #132 - Super Scraps Saturday
Crafting For All Seasons Challenge #68 - All things Bright and Beautiful
Rhedd and Rosie's Challenge #23 - Going Dotty
Craft Your Passion Challenge #195 - Fancy Borders/Edges

Enough glitter for awhile!

Digi image by Kris at Imagine That
The sentiment on this card is oh so true.  With my DH mending well from his hip replacement the week before Christmas and schedules calming down after the holidays,  today I was finally able to have Christmas lunch  with a very dear friend.  Best lunch I've had in a while (I got tomato soup and ceasar salad.).   Our lunches always are 2 hours affairs at least.  We need these catch up times.   (We also exchanged Christmas gifts today and I can't wait to use the cool crafting goodies that were in my bag.  So enough typing already.)

Here are the challenges into which I am entering this card:
Imagine That Progressive Challenge #16 - Jenn and Friends
Digi Haven Challenge - Baby It's Cold Outside
Crafty Hands Challenge #5 - Anything Goes
Jo's Scrap Shack Fun Friday Challenge #32 - Anything Goes

Sometimes things just seem to pile up.....

For example:  laundry, bills, dishes, paperwork, mending, work in general, and
 SNOW
This morning we got another inch of the lovely white stuff.   I went out with my snow shovel in hand to collect the newspaper and the mail.  I completely forgot that there was a huge pile up of ice in front of the mailbox and quickly found myself flat on my back making a snow angel in the street.  Now I had just watched the mail truck struggling to get traction at everyone's mailbox due to this ice flow.  I should have known better, I admit.  I will also admit that the first thing I did after regaining a vertical position was to make sure none of my neighbors had witnessed my unfortunate acrobatics.  As far as I know, I did not break anything - not even the ice.   The experience did , however, give me inspiration for this little introduction to this card:
(Digi image and sentiment from Doodle Pantry)
Doodle Pantry Challenge #42 - Anything Goes
Desert Island Crafters Challenge #69 - I used  3 layers, glitter, and the last of my frosty shimmer mist :>(
Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge SLC185 - 2014 Recipe (2 ovals, 0 pearls, 1  digi image, 4 DP)
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes
Crafty Hazelnut's January Patterned Paper Challenge - Anything Goes
Through the Craftroom Door Challenge - Anything Goes
Cards in Envy Challenge - Snowbody Like You
Delightful Challenges - Use Patterned Paper
Digi Haven Challenge - Baby It's Cold Outside
Digitally Sweet Challenge #70 - Anything Goes

Have a wonderful day/evening/whatever and remember to watch out for that ice!!!!

Kitty made me do it!

I wasn't planning on making a card today.  But after reading Kitty's post, I was inspired to head over to Squigglefly to check out the freebies and enter the Squigglefly Challenge #1 - Thank You with a twist (use embossing) .

It also gave me an opportunity to use some new Spellbinders doily die cuts. It sure is fun poking all those little pieces out with a pin.  I do like the nice clean look of the cut.  And that makes this card eligible for the following challenges:
Sisterhood of Crafter's Challenge - Out with the Old, In with the New (used new die cuts)

Animal Friends January Challenge # 10 - Punches/Dies
Shopping Our Stash Challenge #133 - Use something new

And then a few more miscellaneous challenges:
Crafters Companion January Competition - Hearts (The Hearts embossing folder I used is by Darice. )
Cards Galore Encore Challenge #1 - Anything Goes
Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper January Challenge
Lady Bug Crafts January Challenge - Give Thanks
The Crafters Cafe Challenge #45 - Anything Goes

Well, I need to publish this so I can get on to the post I intended for today.
