Masculine Card

I just couldn't wait another minute to use this embossing folder which I found in a clearance bin. 

I inked up the folder with blue denim ink before embossing the gray CS and then distressed the edges.
 I added a piece of blue CS behind one of the folder images that was on the product packaging and centered it on the card.  I must admit that the first time I inked and embossed the CS,
 it didn't get the way I wanted it to.  So I cut the very center design out of the reject piece and added that. 
(I saved the rest of the reject for another card, of course.) Then I cut the center from the second image on the packaging, added a tiny silver brad in the center, and popped it onto the card. 
Finally, I stamped a simple 'thinking of you' (a CTMH stamp)at the bottom. 

There were 2 embossing folders in the package.  I'm still ruminating about how to use the second one.


 

Tuesday Throwdown Mellow Yellow

My DT card was almost finished.  But it just needed "something".  
I decided to punch some flowers in the bottom corner of the card.  Big mistake.  That punch latched onto the paper and just wasn't letting go! 

Good thing I keep this baby close by.  Just one good smack and it opened right up.

It reminds me of Freckles, a mixed breed dog I bought for 27 cents when I was a teen.  He was the smartest dog.  Each Thursday a local butcher visited our house in his meat truck and he always had a bone for Freckles.  Before stopping at our house, the butcher made a stop at a house down the hill.  You could easily see his truck in their driveway from our front yard.   

I had trained Freckles not to leave our yard, and he never  did. There were no invisible fences or electronic collars 50 years ago.  I walked that dog around and around our property line until he knew the boundaries and stayed inside them.  

Now on a Thursday we would say to Freckles, "The butcher's coming. The butcher's coming."    He would head for the corner of the front yard and wait for that truck, never budging, for as long as it took.  When the butcher's truck came into view, Freckles came to attention, watching and waiting as the neighbor got her meats, never leaving his post.  At last the truck would begin to back out of the drive and turn to come to our house.  Freckles would race to the lower part of our yard, no further, and run up the yard beside the butcher truck, leaping first off a 3 ft. wall heading down the yard and then back up over the wall  to meet the butcher and collect his bone at the front sidewalk.

Dental Floss?

The dentist gave me a sample of this dental floss that just shreds in my teeth.  Don't you just hate when you have a little piece of floss wedged in between your teeth?  You can feel it.  It's plenty annoying.  But you just can't get it out.  I finally decided it would be much more useful in my craft stash.  The color was just perfect for a bow on this card:

Stamps and washi tape cake layers are CTMH.

I couldn't help myself.....

I spied an adorable card on Pinterest yesterday and just had to try to make one similar.

I feel much better now.

Summer Wedding

A few weeks ago at one of Joyce's CTMH card workshops, we made a card using the center section of this stamp.  To my eye, what remained was a ring of hearts.  The other gals agreed that it might look good on a card.  Mickey even contributed a few of her unneeded hearts, which I was able to raise with 1/8" foam tape for a bit of dimension.  With a few layers of embossed white CS, some bling, a corner punch,  ribbon, and CTMH sentiment added,  I'm glad I didn't throw that piece away.

Seeing dots!

I never tire of using this Close to My Heart Dotty Paper.  It was a special limited edition pack that they offered a few years ago.  I wish they would make it available in the catalog.  But it's out with the old and in with the new.  And you should see all the new papers and products available August 1st in the new catalog.

This stamp set, also CTMH, is also one of my favorites for kids of all ages.

For this card I  followed a sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #66. 

 

I noticed the DT used a lot of CTMH products on their fab inspiration cards, so I feel right at home on their blog.
