Yesterday I was just too busy with Thanksgiving cooking, eating, and cleaning up to post on my blog. I imagine a lot of you were doing the same. Today is the infamous Black Friday Shopping Day in the US. (Do other countries have Black Friday Sales? I'd be interested to know. ) I only ventured to 2 stores for BF Specials, the farm store for bird seed and suet cakes, and the craft store for a special gift for my grandson. But I did not go at the crack of dawn. I waited until lunchtime. The stores were busy but the crowds manageable.
With Pennsylvania Deer Season set to start on Monday, I thought I'd use this card for Day 27's theme, Create Something Regional, at Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards Challenge.
There are 2 deer, a doe and fawn, that we see regularly in our neighborhood. Monday, when we were watching our grandsons, we spotted the fawn out near the street. The doe was back further in a yard, with her ears at attention, cautiously looking back and forth. Nick was out throwing a baseball against the side of our house, out of sight of the deer, and she could hear it. It wasn't until after he stopped, because he had spotted the deer, that she advanced to the street and she and the fawn crossed. They are beautiful animals.
The deer and tree stamps, as well as the embossing folder, were freebies from a magazine. The die cut is Spellbinders, and Merry Christmas is CTMH.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Brown Sugar Challenge #122 - Anything Goes
Crafty Catz Challenge - Anything Goes
Fussy and Fancy Challenge #128 - Happy Holidays
The Stamping Boutique Challenge - Sparkle
Shopping Our Stash Challenge #179 - Free is Good (stamps and EF)
DRS Designs Challenge #150 - I Pine For You
Time Out Challenge #19 - Embossing + optional Sparkle
It must be lovely having such beautiful animals wandering through your neighbourhood Debi, they're obviously great for inspiration because your card is gorgeous. I love the blue background with all the inking, stamping and embossing, it shows up the die cut deer perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have the black Friday sales here in Australia, probably because we don't celebrate Thanksgiving. Our door-buster sales start on Boxing Day, which is the 26th of December. I usually stay home!
Cheers,
Beccy
Oh I love the gorgeous scene you've created. The soft colors are beautiful. Thanks so much for playing with us at Time Out!
ReplyDeleteAwesome to have animals roaming around your property. Good for you to only go to two stores. We have Black Friday here in Canada but it isn't as violent as the U.S. We also have Cyber Monday where online stores do their cutting of prices. Back to your card it is beautiful thanks for joining us at Shopping Our Stash for the free is good challenge.
ReplyDeleteNow that we love out in the country I thought we would see a lot of wildlife around our home but I've only seen deer on one occasion (there were 3 in our front year one day). That was in October and we never saw them again! Love your card - great colour and techniques!
ReplyDeleteLove the soft blues and whites on your elegant card! How lovely to have the deer and fawn so close by! Black Friday sales are just starting to catch on in the UK but not to the scale of the US - yet! Great to see you over at Time Out :)
