From the Heart and Mojo Monday

Cornucopia is the title of the October From the Heart Challenge digital stamp set.  The set includes this lovely cornucopia, Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday sentiments, and a wonderful verse for use inside or out.

Hope you can see the gold shimmer mist I sprayed on the white cs.

Challenges into which I've entered this card:

****************
And here is my card for this week's Tall & Skinny Mojo Monday Sketch #421 using the colors from the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge.
(using all CTMH products)

After making this Christmas card, I thought maybe there was too much white for the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge so I made a masculine birthday card to submit there.

(Inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest.)

613 Avenue Create Challenge #147 - Anything Goes or Subway Art
Amusing Challenge #23 - Anything Goes
Creative Corner Challenge - No Stamps
Brown Sugar Challenge # 169 - Anything Goes

From the Heart August Challenge

Just as I was finishing up my card for the August From the Heart Challenge, I heard a knock at the door.  My granddaughter, Gaby, and 17 month old great-granddaughter, Laila, stopped by for a visit.  What fun to bring out the puzzles with the little knobs on the pieces, the bus with the little people inside, and the Elmo sectional plate and baby utensils.  And after I post this card, I'll be getting out the mop and bucket to unsticky my kitchen floor.  Who invented those juice boxes that no child can resist squeezing?  Bad idea!

The free digital set for this month's challenge is Candy Cane for Snowman.  I also used glitter, some flocking, black liquid pearls, baker's twine, satin ribbon and my recently discovered Promarkers to make this cute Christmas card.
Additional challenges I am entering...
Di's Digi Designs Challenge - use ribbon, twine and/or lace
Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge - Anything Goes 4 Kids
Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Spots or Stripes
Inkspirational Challenge #89 - Word Prompt:Melt
Crafting by Designs Challenge - Get Ready for Christmas
Fantastic Tuesday Challenge # 99 - Anything Goes with Glitter
Sparkle n Sprinkle August Challenge - Anything goes with Glitter, Flocking, and/or Embossing Powder

While Laila was enjoying her juice box, we did get her to stand still and say "cheese".  She is getting so big!

I wish you could see the sparkle mist I sprayed on the water.  It looks really cool but didn't photograph well.

From the Heart July Progressive Challenge - Inner Tube Birdbrain
Crafty Catz Challenge #287 - Summertime
Creative Corner Challenge - Summer Fun
Pattie's Creations Challenge #112 - Make a Splash

CAS on Kraft

Today I have a very simple card to share with you.  Prickles Says Hello is the free digi set this month for the From the Heart Progressive Challenge.  And here is Prickles saying Hello:
I printed him on white twice and kraft once, fussy cut the cute little guy and paper pieced him onto the white.  Also, I colored the white banner and butterfly, fussy cut them and paper pieced them.  I added couple of nice globs of liquid glass on his spectacles, colored the flowers and sponged around the white base with blue and green.  After embossing just the bottom of the green background paper, I did a bit of sanding.  Finally I wrapped a bit of bakers twine around the image 3 times before mounting it on the kraft card base.  I always think the simpler design lends itself to a more masculine card, as does the knot instead of a bow and absence of a lot of bling.

Challenges:
From the Heart June Progressive Challenge - use Prickles Says Hello set
Splendiferous Creations - For the Guys Bloggers Challenge
Crafty Catz Challenge #283 - Clean and Simple
Creative Knockouts Challenge #92 - Use Your Stash (It all came from my stash with the exception of the new digi set.)

Did you ever see a pileated woodpecker?

Yesterday afternoon I heard a very strange bird call in the backyard.  As I was looking all around to locate the source, my DH yelled, "Look at that bird on the tree stump!"
I took one look and headed into the house for my camera, while my DH went to get the bird book.  Thankfully, the bird didn't go anywhere.  Actually, he spent quite a while on the side of that tree stump, pecking into the side, removing sizable pieces of bark to uncover a colony of ants, and then enjoying an afternoon snack.  My DH identified it as a pileated woodpecker.
That's the biggest woodpecker we ever saw!

While on the subject of birds, I've used the From the Heart May Stamp of the Month, Apple Blossom Birds,  for my entry in their Progressive Challenge.  Every month you enter using their SOTM digi set entitles you to the next month's digi set for FREE.
The image is fussycut and popped.  I made a banner for the sentiment, added a smidge of blue on the white CS backing, a strip of washi tape, a few skittles, a charm and embroidery floss bow.

These are the challenges I am entering today:
From the Heart May Progressive Challenge - using Apple Blossom Birds
Patti's Creations Design Challenge #110 - Use a digital or stamped flower image
Creative Knockouts Challenge #89 - Washi Tape Wonders
Dream Valley Challenge #106 - Things with Wings

That's it for today.  I've got some shopping to do!

Look what I found!

(Love you stamp is CTMH.)

This is the card I should have posted for February's From the Heart Progressive Challenge using the digital set Loves Me Birdbrain.  Somehow, I forgot to post it.  Guess that makes me a bit of a "birdbrain".
I won't be making that mistake again this month!
Here's my card for the March From the Heart Progressive Challenge using the set Easter Trio:

The cute framed images just screamed "waterfall card" to me.  I sized the digital sentiment to match and hand drew a frame around it, too.  Then there's room on the bottom piece for a personal note.  I chose this glittery striped paper for the springy colors, added butterfly brads and new oregano skittles, then used an aqua blue card base to finish off the card.

I'm also entering this card in the following:
Creative Moments Challenge 63 - Anything Goes/Spring Greens
Bunny Zoe's March Challenge - Spring Colours
Get Creative Challenge #10 - Must have green
Incy Wincy Designs Challenge - Ribbons and Brads
Allsorts Challenge week 301 - Spring is in the Air

Snowbird

Right now I'm a snowbird, having traveled south away from the cold.  As I listen to the weather in Pennsylvania I am so happy I'm not there.  Snow.  Ice.  Bitter Cold.  Not my favorite things!

With that in mind, here is my card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #90 this week using CTMH Heartstrings Paper and January's Digi, Little Snowman, for the From Your Heart Progressive Challenge.

I'm also going to enter this in these fun challenges:
Sweet 7 Challenge #9 - Anything New (I've used my new glitter brush on the snowman's hat and just got the gems yesterday. I can't believe I left home without some bling!)
Love to Scrap Challenge #45 - Use something starting with one of these letters: LTSCB (Layers, Tape, Snowman, Cardstock, Bling)
Allsorts Challenge Week 293 - New and cute (This snowman digi is both new and cute!)

Now it's time for a walk in the 70 degree sunshine!

Simple Christmas

This is a very simple Christmas card thanks to a great piece of DP and this month's From the Heart Angel Joy digi stamp set.  I loved the colors of this paper, purple into aqua blue.  The bottom sentiment is a CTMH stamp in daisy white ink.

I am entering this in:
Emerald Faeries Challenge #61 - Non traditional Christmas Colors
The Stamping Boutique Challenge - Christmas Cards with Non traditional colors

Check out the cute hood/scarf combination I just finished for my granddaughter.  She picked out the yarn.  It's so soft and warm!
Now she wants me to make one for little Laila who immediately pulls her hats right off!

Thank You From the Heart

This month's stamp set for the From the Heart Progressive Challenge is really sweet with the cats and little bird perched on the banner, or is that a bunting, whatever.
I've made this card for the following challenges:
From the Heart October Challenge
DRS Designs Thursday Challenge # 143 - I'm so Hungry
Aud Sentiments Challenge #117 - Anything Goes with a sentiment
Creative Knockouts Challenge #58 - Thankful

Tomorrow I am headed for York, PA for the Heirloom Productions Rubber Stamps and Paper Arts Festival where I'll be teaching Make & Takes at the CTMH booth, after I help build and stock it and before I help tear it back down.  It's kind of like a sandwich, the best part is in the middle.  Hope I see you there!

Our next show will be in Edison, NJ with the Stamp, Scrap, Art Tour, November 1st and 2nd.

I can't believe....

I finally got to the bottom of the huge mulch pile at my mother's house!!  Woot! Woot!

I am celebrating with this cute digi from the Flappy Birthday Birdbrain set available at From the Heart. Somehow I printed the digi for last month's Progressive Challenge at From the Heart but never made a card to enter the challenge.  Duh!  When you do, you get the following month's digi set free.  But I got this month's set free anyway by purchasing $10 worth of stamps from their store.  Which is actually a good thing, because I hadn't been to their store for a while and they have some really cute sets available.  And now I'm back in business with a card for the September Monthly Challenge at From the Heart.

My happiness should carry me up to the shower after all that work, not to mention the fact that I am feeling all itchy because I uncovered an ants' nest and had ants all over me.  Those itty bitty things can really bite.  But who cares?  The mulch is done!!!!

I used this week's Sketch #72 at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for my card and will be entering their challenge.

Other challenges I am entering include:
Well, that's enough rest.  I have cookies to bake.

From the Heart - July Challenge

Most of my Winter and Christmas papers, stamps, and embellishments are still packed away.  Luckily, I had picked up a pad of Martha Stewart Christmas papers on clearance this spring and they were much more accessible.  I chose this snowflake paper as the background for this wonderful digi image and sentiments, this month's free From the Heart set, Winter Friends, for their Progressive Challenge.  As you can see, I colored and die cut the image, framed the sentiments and popped the bottom one, added a few extra punched snowflakes with glitter gems, and some glitter gel.  And I know just who will be receiving this card, eventually.

I will be submitting this card to:
From the Heart July Challenge - Winter Friends
Crafting at the Weekend Challenge #3 - Anything Goes
Di's Digi Designs Challenge - Dies and/or Punches
Hiding in My Craft Room Challenge #158 - Christmas in July
My Sheri Crafts Challenge #138 - Christmas in July
Fairy Tale Challenge - Use a Digi Stamp
Jellypark Friends Challenge - Christmas in July
Polkadoodle Challenge week 28 - Christmas + Add a little twinkle
Winter Wonderland Challenge - Blue Christmas
