MFT Sketch Challenge

There are approximately 1 million things I should be doing with my time today.   Making and posting a birthday card are not two of them.  And yet, that is precisely what I am doing.

My husband says I am practicing avoidance.

It pains me to admit that he is probably correct.

Be that as it may.... here is the card I made for this week's

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

Papers are from CTMH.  The stamp is from MFT.  It actually says 'a little Birthday Wish for a Great Friend', but I blocked the lower half of the stamp.

 and here is the sketch.

Back to my million things.

Thanks for dropping by.

Happy New Year's Eve.

Sympathy Card

We had some sad news on Christmas Eve.

Making Sympathy cards isn't one of my favorite projects.

But you gotta do what you gotta do.

I've used CTMH papers and SU sentiment, embossing folder and die.

I am sharing this card at the following challenges: Allsorts Challenge wk 6034 - Sparkle n Shine (I've used adhesive glitter film from Stamp On It to add the glitter and shine to the frame.); The House That Stamps Built Challenge D2320 - AG; Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Sparkle n Shine;

Tuesday Morning Sketches #586

Welcome to my blog, where I have
a new card
to share with you each week for
Tuesday Morning Sketches
It's hard to believe that it is Christmas week!

There is no sketch for this week.
Instead, it is an Anything Goes challenge.

If you've purchased gift cards, you might be interested in making this gift card holder, made with 1/2 sheet of double sided patterned paper.  I followed a tutorial on You tube.  It's called a Pop Up Pocket Card and is very simple to make.

I hope you'll have time to play along at
this week.
The Design Team would love it if you'd visit our blogs.

Christmas Cardinal and Holly Card

As I tidied up the Christmas things on my craft table, I came across a small piece of holly patterned paper that I saw no reason to throw away.  Picking up a few other scraps, I made a nice little banner.      And that's exactly how most of my cards begin.

First I'll show you the inside of the card (because that is where the banner ended up).
That's a Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz sentiment stamp.

Keeping in mind the Inspo list from Festive Friday Challenge #0074,

I chose holly, red and green

I designed the front of the card, using a die cut I forgot I had, a cardinal which I cut from one of the cards I received last year, Fundamental papers from CTMH, and some washi tape for accent.

 Thanks for dropping by.

I think I still have time to make a batch or two of cookies before dinner.

Recycling Christmas Card Pieces

With a lot of time at home this year, I went through old cards I had saved for salvageable pieces.  Many of my Christmas cards had bits from those old cards.  I am particularly happy with this card.

Last year, when I received a card with these peacock themed ornaments, I knew that I'd be reusing them for my BFF's card this year.  She has quite a group of peacocks that nest in her front tree. I love making cards for her because I know she appreciates the time I put into them and it's like sending a bit of love from PA across the US to her in AZ.

The aqua blue glittery background was also recycled from one of last year's cards.  I wonder if a certain crafty friend of mine will see and recognize it.

The inside sentiment stamp is from Stampin' Up.

The outside Merry Christmas Die is from Paper Smooches.        Upon viewing the photo,  I noticed the die cut was crooked.  Luckily, I was able to lift and straighten it.

Christmas Thanks

Although all my Christmas cards are finished,

a few gift card holders are still on my 'To Make' list.

Following the sketch at My Favorite Things,

I've made this gift card holder for our mailman.

I cut the ornaments on the cricut using the CTMH Artiste cartridge.  The Thanks stamp is also by CTMH.  For the foil die cut Christmas, I used a Sizzix die.  Inside is a Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz sentiment stamp next to a CTMH ornament stamp.

Finished? Not Quite!

The Christmas supplies have all been packed up, ready to go in the closet until next year.  I really thought I had finished making Christmas cards.  And then I realized that I hadn't made a card for the newest Double Trouble Challenge.  How did I miss that?  A few items were still accessible enough to put this simple card together.

The green foil wreath and red Noel were cut on the Cricut using the Close to My Heart Flower Market cartridge.  The bird is a sticker.  I bordered the patterned paper with skinny washi tape, added some enamel dots for berries and finished it off with a bow.

Challenges:

Double Trouble Challenge #73 - Favorite Cutting Tool (I used the Cricut although my favorite cutting tool is actually my scissors, which I only used to cut the ribbon and washi tape.  No fussy cutting today.),  Patterned Paper and/or Ribbon, string, etc, Enter the partnered challenge at Bitten By the Bug

Bitten By the Bug Challenge - AG using a Cricut or Die Cut (this challenge only)

Avoiding cleanup

First thing this morning, my mother called.  She asked me to make her a really pretty sympathy card for the family of a friend who just passed on.  My plan for today didn't exactly include this but I got busy nonetheless.

Boy, did I mess up my craft space using at least a dozen dies, papers, stamps, my bowzmaker, embossing powder.  Rather than tackling the chaos, I thought I'd post the card instead.

Mom was pleased when I gave it to her.

The pine cone paper is from CTMH.

Sentiments are stamps from SU, both heat embossed.

There are 10 different papers in this spray and 8 different dies from SU, Sizzix, and ODB!

Now, I hope Mom doesn't lose it.

Maybe, I shouldn't put everything away until after she puts it in the mailbox.

Hmmm

MFT Color Challenge

Today I have a Valentine and a Birthday Card to share.

Are my Christmas cards finished? NO

I just wasn't feeling Christmas with the colors in this week's My Favorite Things Color Challenge.

The Razzle Berry just threw me off.

Here are my cards:

I used MFT dies to make the Valentine, except the "4".  That was a Sizzix die.  Simple.  Easy.

For the birthday card, I made my own background, embossed it, and added the glitter frame.  The Happy Birthday is a MFT die.  I cut one out of glitter paper and a second out of black craft foam to raise it a bit.  This will go to one of several guys in our family with birthdays in January.

Enough dilly dallying.  I have Christmas cards to finish!

MFT Sketch Challenge

Here's the sketch for this week at My Favorite Things:

At this time of year, when I see a triangle my mind automatically thinks Christmas Tree.

When I finished the first card, I wasn't that thrilled with how it turned out.  I much happier with my second attempt.

Deer, Oh Deer!

A wonderful friend recently sent me some deer die cuts.

Here are a few cards I put together using them.

I used a SU die to make that pretty edge and embossed the SU sentiment in silver on the card above.

For this card I used CTMH patterned paper and a CTMH sentiment embossed in white.
Would you add a sentiment to the front of this card?

If so, where???

Send a Smile 4 Kids December Challenge

The theme for the December Challenge at

Follow SAS4Kids on Facebook!
is Winter Cards 4 Kids
or Anything Goes 4 Kids.

Here I used a retired CTMH stamp, Sizzix word dies, and MFT scalloped border dies with the scalloped edge removed.
I love the printable glitter paper from Wal-Mart.  It's great for printing digital images, die cutting, and coloring, if you are lucky enough to find some in the store.   Plus you get the glitter effect without the glitter rubbing off on everything.

It would be great if you joined the fun at the
December Challenge.
(Cards only, please. And they need not be donated.)

Please take some time and visit the fabulous blogs of my teammates.  They work so hard and are very creative!

Tall & Skinny Christmas Card

For those who send out Christmas letters with their Christmas cards, these tall and skinny cards are perfect.  I put my letter on top of the card before sliding it into the envelope.  That way the center brad on the flower won't poke through the envelope.

I saw a card similar to this on Pinterest.  This is my version with the card front featuring gold dazzles and Sizzix die cut poinsettia and sentiment.

The inside has more gold dazzles (they show up much better in this picture), rectangle die cut by SU, green circle die cut by Sizzix, and sentiment stamp from Sparkle n Sprinkle.

Snow Bird Happy Birthday

Even though I am immersed in Christmas card making, I also need quite a few winter birthday cards.  Using the sketch from My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #518 , a MFT die, and a stamp set from Sweet n Sassy, I made this card in silver and white.

The images were heat embossed with a silver lightning embossing powder and then fussy cut.

It's hard to believe that we are in the last 4 weeks before Christmas!

Here's the sketch for this week and my card.

Is everyone as busy making Christmas cards as I am?  If I took the time to count, I probably have plenty.  But they are so fun to make.
For this card I used some old CTMH paper; the ornament is from the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge; the letters in JOY are MFT die cuts and the small scalloped piece is a SU die cut.  I got plenty of glue on my fingers with this one, but no ink.
