Playing with Paper

Yesterday a friend and I had a paper play date.

It was so much fun and wonderful to be together.

After a bit of show and tell, we made this pretty card:

Side fold?
or Top Fold?

Because of the card's versatility, we both decided not to put a sentiment inside right now.

We used a stamp and die by Honey Doo Crafts called Floral Crest from Petticoat Parlor.

Inspired by a Christmas card my friend showed me yesterday, today I made this fancy fold card with belly band.

The papers are from CTMH.

The stamps are from MFT.

The cake die was a magazine freebie.

Scalloped edge die is from Pink & Main.

MFT Challenges

Today I've used Tea Party Stamps and the Polka Dot Pops Die from My Favorite Things to create 2 cute cards.

The first is a slimline card for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

I love this little mouse in a tea cup from the Tea Party stamp set.

Papers are all from CTMH.

The second card is for the MFT Color Challenge

These stamps are also from the Tea Party set.  I fussy cut them both and paper pieced the hat.  I used a piece of MFT glitter paper under the MFT die cut to add a bit of shine.  Those little brown enamel dots are actually the dots that punched out of the die cut with a nice layer of liquid glass on top.

Curtain or Skirt Fold?

When I first saw the double sided freebie papers in the Stampin' Up Sale-a-bration catalog, I was attracted by the deep colored flowers on one side and the wonderful patterns on the opposite.   I knew they would make attractive skirt/curtain fold cards.

I started this card by making the folds for the bottom half and the pale pink strip to cover the edge but I had no vision for the top.  It sat on the desk for a couple days, waiting to be finished.  Today I thought I'd play with the Pretty Perennial stamps and dies.  Before long I had a nice selection of flowers and leaves to finish off this card.   Then all it needed was a quick Happy Birthday and a few gems.  (BTW, the Happy Birthday stamps are from CTMH.)

Now, do you call this special fold a skirt fold or a curtain fold?  Are they one and the same?  If not, what is the difference?  I'd be interested in your responses?

MFT Wednesday Sketch and Slimline Birthday Challenges

My cards today were made for two challenges at My Favorite Things.

The first card I made follows the sketch for this week's

Wednesday Sketch Challenge

I've used a MFT sentiment stamp, CTMH papers, and various die cuts to make this card.

The second card I'd like to share in the MFT February Slimline Challenge, where the theme is Birthday Wishes.

The Alphabet Dies are from MFT, a Christmas gift from my bestie in AZ.  She actually sent me a gift certificate online and I've been wanting these large letters for a while.  Thanks Dawn!

Papers, banner and birthday stamp are from CTMH and the cute little donkey is a SU stamp which I fussy cut.

Hope you all are staying well.

Thanks so very much for visiting!

Pop- Up Flip Card

Yesterday's newsletter from Splitcoaststampers had a tutorial for a fold I had never tried, a pop up flip card.

I had colored the image from February's Imagine That DOTM Challenge the day before and thought I could use it to make this special card design for my granddaughter's upcoming birthday.  Unfortunately, it was too big for an A2 card.  I began adjusting the measurements in the tutorial to make an A6 or 4.5x6.25 inch card.  Everything was going according to plan until I tried putting in the pop-up flip gizmo.  I cut a lot of paper in a lot of different sizes and just couldn't get it to work.

I decided to just finish the A6 card as an aperture card with the image on the inside of the card but showing through to the front.

The image was colored with watercolor pencils and markers, then fussy cut.  The spray of strawberries is an old digi from Becci's Place, colored with markers and a green glitter brush.  The sentiments were part of the Imagine That! DOTM, Birthday Bunny, available at a discount this month.  This is a Progressive Challenge.  If you use this month's digi set and enter the challenge, you will receive next month's digi set for free.  Imagine That! is also having an 8th Birthday Celebration and you might want to check that out as well.

Having failed in my attempt to make the Pop-Up Flip Card yesterday, mastering it became my goal for today.   Sometimes you just have to walk away and come back at another time.
That's really all it took, and reading the directions very carefully.  I thought it best to follow the tutorial as written this time and make an A2 version.

Here is my very first, successful Pop-Up Flip Card!

Card front. CTMH paper. Fussy cut SU stamped flower and leaves.
Inside of card.  Sentiment from MFT.

8th Birthday Celebration at Imagine That Digis & MFT Sketch #528

My printer needs a new color ink cartridge.  But instead of waiting to purchase and install one, I decided to print this cute pre-colored Imagine That Digi in grayscale and add some color myself.

I used a bunch of scraps, mostly CTMH papers, Sizzix dies and stamp, and various markers.

This is my entry for this week's Feb. 8-14 Birthday Celebration Food/Cake Challenge at Imagine That Digis by Kris.

**************

The sketch at My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #528 is super easy this week and their design team has made some really nice cards using it.

Here is my version:

Hope you all had a nice day.

Guess who is 7 soon?

It's hard to believe that my first great-granddaughter, Laila, will be 7 soon.  Time sure does fly!  And she already has 2 younger sisters, too!

Every year since Laila was born, I have made her a special card using quilted digi numbers from Beccy's Place.  I'm glad I purchased the whole set, because I think they are retired now.  This year I've used one of Beccy's digis and also one of her tutorials to create this

Four Fold Card.

I colored the turtle with markers,  and then fussy cut.  I colored and cut a second head and neck section and then popped the top and glued the bottom to give it some dimension.  Before mailing, I will tuck a $5 bill and two $1 bills behind the blue striped section.

The Happy Birthday die is from Die-Version and the stamped sentiment is from Stampendous.

 Happy Birthday, Laila!
