Wedding Card

Today I dug out my prettiest off white papers to make a wedding card for my granddaughter.  These papers were selected with much care, each having it's own texture.  They were from a challenge prize a long time ago.  You may have to look very closely to see the faint stripe in the top sheet, the gloss on the die cut in the upper  left corner, and the fabric design of the layer on top of cs and below the pale pink glitter.  That makes a lot of layers.
(Inspired by a card on Pinterest)
Those 2 pink pearls have got to go, now that I look at the photo.  I colored them with a promarker which matched perfectly, but dried too pink.  I will switch them to white pearls before I give her the card.  I didn't know if I had ribbon that would work.  Then, to my surprise, I came across a yard of this pretty ribbon with tiny hearts, also a challenge prize from long ago.  The corner dies are from Our Daily Bread Designs.  And the little flowers were punched.

Now I must find the perfect sentiment to wish her all the happiness she deserves!

Challenges:
Pile It On Challenge #153 - Lots of Layers
Path of Positivity Challenge #68 - AG twist Happiness
Joy of Sets Challenge - Tic Tac Toe (I used the first column: Wedding, Glitter, Die Cut)

Red Hat Card Class 8/21/17

Seven gals from our Red Hat group gathered to make cards yesterday.  I always prepare 4 cards for the girls to make.

At our last class, a few girls had requested an engagement or wedding card.  We made this one first while everyone's hands were clean.  A few girls left off the silhouette and just made a basically white on white card, stamping the center of the flower with "Have a happy day!".
Die cuts are from DieVersion
I had also promised the girls a masculine card.
Colored digi is from Fred She Said
And we made a more feminine card.
Stamps from CTMH; paper from SU; die cut from Spellbinders

The last card we made was a waterfall card, which everyone loved.

Stamps from SU
What an enjoyable morning we all had!

I am entering the first card in the following challenges:
Die Cut Divas August Challenge - Anything Goes
Dies R Us Challenge #79 - Anything Goes
Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #170 - Anything Goes
Scrapyland Challenge #72 - Anything Goes

May heARTful stamping Challenge

Close to My Heart just released a new Seasonal Expressions Catalog.  Personally, I'm more excited about the Live Beautifully products that are only available for the month of May.
I fell in love with the paper featuring gorgeous peonies in shades of red, white and pink, and fully intended to make something with it  for my heARTful stamping May Challenge design team post.
Then I saw the reverse side, and knew the white peonies would  make a beautiful card for a wedding.  And I just happen to have one on our calendar.

Isn't the flip side underneath my card pretty, too?
The glitter frame is a cut from the Artistry CTMH Cartridge backed with sea glass card stock.  The strip next to the ribbon is from the edge of one of the papers. The strips on these papers are so pretty!

The challenge at heARTful stamping is open all month.
Won't you join us?

Just finished reading: The Captain Takes a Wife The Captain Chronicles, 1875 By Doris Durbin

Today I'm wearing my new "book review" hat for the very first time.   Let's see how well it fits.  I hope my loyal followers won't mind this deviation from my normal card posts from time to time.  Perhaps, I'll even include a card reflecting some aspect of the book.
Now that's a novel idea.

The Captain Takes a Wife The Captain Chronicles, 1875 by Doris Durbin was such a delightful read, I am sorry I'm finished.

As the book begins Harry Richardson, The Captain, has just received his theology degree from Mercer College and is about to embark on a new chapter in his life, as a circuit preacher in the mountains of northern Georgia.  The Captain really has no immediate thoughts of marrying, although his Aunt had told him that in his new position as a country minister a wife would certainly be an asset.  And then, before boarding the train, Harry comes across a young lady who enlists his aid.  Not only is she in trouble, but she's also in a wedding dress, trying to escape an unwanted arranged marriage.
Seeing Harry with Sarah at the train station, his friends reach the conclusion that there is an elopement in the works.  They decide to buy tickets and surprise The Captain with a proper wedding aboard the train.  Also on the train are a young reporter and photographer, ambitiously following what looks to be an interesting story, Reverend Peterson, one of Harry's college professors, and his wife on their way to Atlanta,  several deputies searching for Sarah, as well as a man who looks like a hired gunman.   Why is the man Sarah was supposed to marry going to such lengths to find her?  Poor Sarah has no clue in what she has unwittingly become involved.  But, as promised, Harry does his best to protect her from whatever danger is following her.  A very eventful train ride ensues, with several twists and turns along the way, as this very enjoyable story unfolds.

This book has wonderfully developed, very likeable characters.  Although occasionally it seemed a bit predictable, there was ample plot movement and various surprises to keep the reader turning the pages.   Once finished, the first thing I did was check to see if there was a sequel available.   And there is!

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers <http://booklookbloggers.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 <http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_03/16cfr255_03.html> : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Under the circumstances, I think a wedding card is in order:
For this card I used a velum flourish die cut,  a Verve stamp, and
a doily embossing folder from which the center flower was fussycut in 2 layers and popped, sheer white ribbon bow, and glitter gem.

Card Challenges:

Wedding Card

My mother asked me to make a special wedding card for one of her friends.  I pulled out the prettiest creamy white paper, pre-embossed with tiny butterflies, pale green velum, dies from Our Daily Bread, and pearls to make the front of the card.

The sentiment stamp is from Verve, embossed in white.  The layered butterflies are a CTMH cricut cut on the Art Philosophy cartridge.

For the inside I used another ODBD die and a Cherry Lynn Designs fancy flourish die.

These Inkadinkado sentiment stamps are embossed in white.

Challenges:
Cut It Up Challenge #105 - Name Game (My first name begins with a "D" and I've used dies.)
Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge #173 - My Favorite Things  (are these beautiful dies from ODBD, pearls, and pretty paper)
Fantabulous Crixcut Challenge #285 - Wet or Dry Embossing (I used the CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge for the butterflies)
Sparkle n Sprinkle September Challenge - Anything Goes with glitter, flock, or embossing powder (I've used embossing powder.)
ABC Challenge - P is for Pearls

Bridal Shower/Wedding Card

Today I switch from Baby Shower Cards to some for Bridal Showers.
I think this card could be used for either a shower or as a wedding card.

You can't see the clear glitter Wink of Stella in all the flower petals, but in person it's very pretty.
The stamp on the card front is from Verve.
The inside stamp is from CTMH.
The velum die cut is from Cherry Lynn Designs.
The doily embossing folder is by Sizzix.
The flowers are fussy cut from the center of the embossed doily.

Challenges:
Scrapy Land Challenge #43 - Anything Goes
Crafty Creations Challenge #317 - Tic Tac Toe (1st column: sentiment, flowers, leaves)

Eclectic Ellapu June Challenge - Purple Team: Wedding

Moving On to February

and a new, temporary, winter home in Sarasota, Florida.  We just arrived here yesterday and need to spend some time getting familiar with our new surroundings.  One of the first things I did was claim a nice little corner to make my cards.  No hiding in the closet this month.  This morning's project (after making my Mojo Monday #433 Sketch Contest card) was to get all the internet devices online.  Mission accomplished.  Now I can post my first card made here.
(taken on our screened porch overlooking a golf course)

(same card, different light, no screen, using CTMH stamps, glitter trim, black fundamental accessories and papers)

Quick post on a beautiful day

It is so gorgeous outside today!  I decided to make a quick CAS card and then go enjoy the sun.

I found this adorable stamp with sentiment in my box of unused items.  Sort of reminds me of summer romance.  It was a freebie from Quick Cards magazine, a part of the Everyday in Moonbeam Meadows line from Crafters Companion.
I quickly added some color with pencils and punched the corners.

I am entering it in the following challenges:

I thought it was Monday! and CTMH Workshop 5/29/14

My sole reason for rolling out of bed rather than just rolling over in bed was to get started on my Mojo Monday card.  And then I realized it was Sunday.  Not to worry!  There are plenty of other challenges into which I can funnel my creative energy.

For example, if I make and enter one more card this month in the Heart 2 Heart Challenge I can get their Heart 2 Heart Addict Badge for my blog.  And someone at Inkspirational Challenges mentioned Pia was getting married!  Congratulations, Pia!!!

(All CTMH products)

Challenges:
Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
Inkspirational Challenge #83 - Purple + Wedding
Cuttlebug Mania Challenge - Bling (EF is by CTMH)
Addicted to Stamps Challenge #105 - White + 1 other color (purple)

Today is the last day to order the Taste of Summer paper for just $8.95, the coordinating stamp set,  and to help Joyce (or your CTMH consultant if they are going to convention) win extra entries for a great trip to Australia!

MM + AHSC

Going for some simple cards today.
First, a tall & skinny Mojo Monday card suitable for a wedding:
Normally, I would be complaining about the tall & skinny sketch at Mojo Monday.  But I really like the way this turned out!  (3.5 x 5.5)

and, second,  a sympathy card for today's
Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:

Yeah, I kind of just used some things floating around on my craft table.  Didn't have enough mojo to look for pattern papers, etc.  There is way too much stuff on the table right now, anyway.  Plus - it needs a good cleaning, so I don't have to sponge the next card I make because it got dirty during construction.
All the stamps used are CTMH.  I love the pussywillow branches stamp, one of the first signs of spring.

Challenges:

Aud Sentiments Challenge #128 - Anything Goes + Sentiment
Crafty Ribbons Challenge - Anything Goes with Ribbon

Color My Heart Color Dare #135 - Champagne (base) & Chocolate (ink)

Stop back tomorrow for a new Tuesday Throwdown Challenge Design Team Card.
and
Wednesday I have an eggsrta special surprise!

Muse Challenge # 101

This relatively simple card could easily be used for Valentine's Day, a wedding, anniversary, or birthday.   Marion Vagg is this week's muse for the Muse Challenge #101 and you'll find her card, the inspiration for my own, right here.  In fact, she's made a whole set of cards in fabulous colors.

It's supposed to be a one layer card, but my stamping was a little crooked.  So I cut another panel and just covered up my goof.  I used CTMH paper and stamps from the Heartstrings WOTG Cardmaking Kit and CTMH white daisy pigment ink.

I'll be submitting this card to:
