For the dinosaur generation

Sending some of my older friends, who still have their sense of humor, a birthday card with a dinosaur on it and snarky saying inside might be a little nasty, but it sure is fun!

This digi, colored with markers and fussy cut, was from Imagine That!

Papers are from CTMH and die from Shady Lane Impressions.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #590

Welcome to my blog, where I have
a new card
to share with you each week for
Tuesday Morning Sketches

To start the year off, everyone on the TMS Design Team has chosen their favorite sketch from last year.
This was Margreet's favorite sketch.

Oh, Deer!  Isn't this paper sweet?
I fell in love with it the first time I saw it in my Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.  (I really miss receiving that publication.)   It's called Happy Days by The Paper Boutique.  I found it online at CraftStash in England.

I hope you'll have time to play along at

this week.
The Design Team would love it if you'd visit our blogs.

Slimline & Sketch Challenges at MFT

Today I thought I'd share two cards that I made for current challenges at My Favorite Things.

The first is a slimline card designed for the Winter Scenes Slimline Challenge

The stamp set I used is from Sweet n Sassy.

*****

My second card follows the sketch at the

Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

I thought I'd keep this simple, used scraps that were already on the desk, and a sentiment stamp from MFT.

Happy 16th Birthday

It seems to be too soon to be making a 16th birthday card for my grandson, but unfortunately time flies and today is indeed his 16th birthday.

I felt this occasion required a special card.  Following a tutorial at Beccy's Place, although adjusting measurements to make it an A2 card, here is the asymmetric box card I made for Nick.

This digi from Bugaboo Stamps was perfect for a 16th birthday!  It was colored with pencils and markers.

The birthday sentiment above was computer generated.

Inside of card
"you got this" and "hooray!" stamps and all papers are from CTMH.

"Celebrate your special day" stamp is from MFT.

The numbers were cut with Recollections dies.

Challenges:

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #583 - New ( I just purchased this digi for the occasion and I've never tried this fold before.) ; Craft Rocket Challenge #77 - For the men/boys; Watercooler Wednesday Challenge # 305 - AG with a masculine twist; Simon Says Monday Challenge - On a Roll (Car Tires);  Di's Digi Design Challenge - Tic Tac Toe; 3 in a row ( I used blue, digi, sentiment.)

Having Trouble with Double Trouble

If you follow my blog, you know that I like to enter the challenge at Double Trouble.  Well, this week I've been struggling with it, mostly because I'm working with a very limited stash right now.  That means I have to be really creative sometimes.

In order to get the maximum number of entries DT Challenge #75 "KAZOO-a-Long" partnered with Try Stampin on Tuesday asks you to use music in your card or project, include a zoo animal, and use the sketch at Try Stampin on Tuesday.  Since Monday, when the challenge was posted, I poured through the digis on my laptop, the stamp sets and papers I have available, and just could not find a thing to suit me.  At one point I just decided I'd skip this one.  For those of you not familiar with The Double Trouble Challenge, the rules do not require you to include everything.  I tend to be an "in for a penny, in for a pound" person.  Then, yesterday, I found a very pretty sheet with music at Gecko Gals and downloaded it.  And last night as I was falling asleep, it all came together in my mind.

The baby giraffe is a digi from A Day For Daisies.

The retired sentiment stamp is from CTMH.

Challenges:

Double Trouble Challenge #75 - music, animal,TSOT;  Try Stamping on Tuesday Challenge #490 - see sketch above; Through the Craft Room Door Challenge week of Jan 19th - AG; CCC Digi Creations Challenge #121 - include a sentiment; Creative Craft Cottage Challenge #136 - use a digi; Crafty Animals Challenge #46 - AG with an animal; 2 Crafty Critter Crazies January Challenge - AG with a critter; Aud Sentiments Challenge - AG with a sentiment; Di's Digi Challenge - Tic, Tac, Toe, 3 in a row ( I used the middle row - 1 or more circles (upper right), digi image, include a sentiment.)

Another sympathy card

Most of my day I spent finishing the book I was reading.

It was one of those free Kindle books and I really enjoyed it.

If you have an opportunity to read West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge, I highly recommend it.

I did manage to take photos of this card, which I made yesterday.

Flower die by Pink and Main, sentiment die by MFT, embossing folder by Stampin Up

Inside sentiment stamp by CTMH, die cut by SU.

Challenges:

Frilly and Funky Boutique Challenge - So Delicate; Little Red Wagon Challenge #585 - Die-ing to Get Crafty; The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge - Die Cuts and/or Embossing folders; Through the Craft Room Door Challenge week of Jan. 19th - AG

Tuesday Morning Sketches #589

Welcome to my blog, where I have

a new card to share with you each week for
Tuesday Morning Sketches

To start the year off, everyone on the TMS Design Team has chosen their favorite sketch from last year.
This was my favorite sketch.
I starting to like making the slimline cards

I made this card for my sister-in-law's birthday.  She is definitely a doxie lover!

The Happy Birthday die is from Shady Lane Expressions. The glitter paper from MFT.  I think the dies I used for the dog and the velum came from AliExpress. The brown and green papers are old Fundamental papers from CTMH.

I hope you'll have time to play along at

this week.
The Design Team would love it if you'd visit our blogs.

My Favorite Things Color Challenge

Today's card was made for the MFT Color Challenge.

Blue and brown is one of my favorite color combinations.

The sentiment stamp and brown glitter paper are both from MFT.

This sentiment is fairly versatile, and works well for the cards I donate to SAS4Kids.

The bunny is a Tim Holtz Sizzix die, popped with a die cut piece of craft foam.

The rectangle dies are from Stamplorations.

Challenges:

MFT Color Challenge #157 - see above;  Allsorts Challenge Week 607 - Something New (rectangle dies); Aud Sentiments Challenge #266 - AG with a sentiment;

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge # 524

This Beautiful Bloom stamp and die from My Favorite Things turned out to be perfect for their current sketch challenge.

The flower is colored with pencils and waterbrushed to blend.  The middle one also has a heavy layer of clear Wink of Stella to give it a pretty shine and popped on a piece of craft foam die cut in the same shape.  I used an embossing folder from CTMH to emboss the top and bottom of the card.  There is a light pink vellum banner under the sentiment banner.  The sentiment is also from MFT.

Challenges:

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #524 - see above; The Flower Challenge #52 - Embossing; Dies R Us Challenge #161 - AG using a brand of dies, MFT, that DRU sells; Creations in Pink Challenge #15 - AG if mainly pink; Crafty Hazelnut's January Patterned Paper Challenge - AG with patterned paper

Double Trouble Challenge # 74

This afternoon I spent busily working on 4 quilts so I'd have something to enter in the current Double Trouble Challenge.

The theme is "Cuddle Up Day".

Papers are from CTMH.

Inside sentiment

I used my cuttlebug to cut the quilt die pieces, the stitched circle die, and the inside sentiment.  The kitty is a digital stamp, that I know is in the wrong digi folder on my new computer, but I have no idea where it should be.  Sorry.

The inside die is from Creative Expressions.

Wonkey Donkey Card # 2

Yesterday I posted the first of two male birthday cards I made using my new set of Whimsy Stamps called Wonkey Donkeys and another new stamp set from Stamplorations called A Snarky BirthdayHere is the second card, as promised:

Gate fold card front

Once again I fussy cut the donkeys.  I colored them with pencils.  The plaid paper is from CTMH and I added a few matching accent lines of orange and blue with markers.  I forgot the lines on the inside, although I'm sure my son won't notice.  But doesn't it make a difference?

Gate fold card inside with pocket for $$$$

The Happy Birthday die is from Shady Lane Impressions.

Wonkey Donkey Card #1

Time to play with something new!

I needed 2 male birthday cards and thought this a perfect opportunity to try out my new set of Whimsy Stamps Wonkey Donkeys .

Masking isn't one of my specialties, but I had this idea in my head and didn't know how else to make this background.  As it is, it took me 4 tries and lots of masks to make this card.  There are dies available for the Donkeys, but I fussy cut the masks and the ones for this card.

The Happy Birthday die is from Shady Lane Impressions.

Then I decided to decorate the inside with another Wonkey Donkey. The sentiment is from a stamp set from Stamplorations called A Snarky Birthday.  And the dies I used are also from Stamplorations and are called Crazy Double Running Stitch Nesting Dies

Challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Use a new, unused product (donkey stamps); Crafting Happiness Challenge #78 - A for Animals;

Through the Craft Room Door Challenge Week of Jan 5th - AG; Shopping Our Stash Challenge #436 - Use something new (donkey stamps); The Male Room Challenge # 146 - Animals;

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Something New (donkey stamps); Moving Along With The Times Challenge #126 - Something New (donkey stamps); Krafty Chicks Challenge #541 - Stamp Act; C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #582 - AG; Inkspirational Challenge #230 - Mask; Crazy 4 Challenges C4C346 - Something New (donkey stamps)

I know I said at the beginning of this post that I needed 2 male birthday cards.  The second card I made used the same stamps.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to post it today.

I'll add it to my blog tomorrow.

Happy 2nd Birthday

Yesterday my great granddaughter, Lahna, turned 2.

The papers are from a paper pack from The Paper Boutique called Wild and Wonderful.

I used the same paper and same design for her 1st birthday card

Lahna is pretty hard to photograph these days.  If she's is not asleep, she is moving and the only time she is not moving is when she is asleep.

Her mother is holding her in this photo, but looking at the camera was not on Lahna's agenda.

Lahna is no longer the newest member of the family.

On December 18th her sister Luna Noelle was born,

my third great granddaughter!

Lahna's birthday card is being entered in the following challenges:

Crafty Creations January Challenge #417- AG; Creative Crafters Challenge #35 - AG; Crafty Hazelnut's January Patterned Paper Challenge - AG; 2 Crafty Critter Crazies January Challenge - AG; Crafty Calendar January Challenge - Make It Cute; 613 Avenue Create January Challenge - AG; Crafting Happiness Challenge # 78 - A for animals;
