One more time for the fun fold.

A certain person, who shall remain anonymous, asked me if I knew how to cut the paper for this fold if making a top fold instead of a side fold card.  I originally CASE'd the fold from a post on the DRS designs blog.  The creator of that card had found the fold in CardMaker magazine, which I meant to pick up at the store yesterday but forgot.  But, with a little cutting and a bit of calculating I managed
to figure it out.
So this card is for my anonymous friend.
The stamps are CTMH. The white scalloped circle and navy layer are cuts on the CTMH cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.  And I added dots of buttercup liquid pearls to the flower centers.
If you stroll back through my recent posts, you will find 2 other versions of this fold.  Or click on Special Folds on my sidebar, to hop right to them.

Challenges I am entering today:
Word Art Wednesday Challenge # 194 - Anything Family Friendly Goes
Creatalicious Challenge #77 - More than One Fold
Creative Craft Challenge #44 - Anything Goes

Just had to try....

....this fold I saw in the August Issue of Quick Cards, which our mail man so kindly delivered yesterday in its gray plastic envelope.

I thoroughly enjoyed a conversation I once had with our previous mail lady.  She routinely delivered these magazines, in their opaque and apparently mysterious envelopes, also.  One day she motioned for me to come to her mail truck.  I thought she had a larger package that wouldn't fit in our box.  Then she very sheepishly said, "May I ask, what is in those gray plastic envelopes you get?  Several ladies on the route get them, also."  I believe she was afraid they were PlayGirl magazines or something of that nature.  She almost breathed a sigh of relief when I said they were card making magazines!

My apologies, I digress.
Like that never happens!
Here's the card:

The technique was called Cathedral Windows.  It's a simple fold that starts with a circle.
The sentiment is a CTMH stamp.  I thought I'd add that little telephone charm and send this to a friend who I don't talk to nearly enough.  First, I'll do something about the crooked tulle ribbon bow.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:
Crafting by Designs Challenge - August Anything Goes
Crafty Creations Challenge #294 - Four of something (4 windows; 4 patterned papers)
Creative Moments Challenge #73 - Anything Goes/Bingo  (using the first column-ribbon,punch,charm)

Inky Chicks Challenge #54 - Metal Embellishment

I do love these quiet mornings when my DH is on the links.
Hope you get to enjoy something you love today, too!

Flipped Fun Fold

A few days ago I posted an anniversary card using the fold below.  One of the gals asked if I could show it to the group at our weekly CTMH class.  This is another card, using the same fold, that I made and taught to the group yesterday afternoon.  I rotated it 90 degrees to the right, from the original card, so I could place the sentiment where I did to hide a boo-boo.  We added a few skittles, just for fun.
CTMH has a new coral glitter tape, which some of the girls used instead of the lagoon.  Wow!  That really looked great with this Hopscotch paper.  I can't wait to get some!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafting from the Heart Challenge #70 - Anything Always Goes
Craft Your Passion Challenge #272 - Always Anything Goes
A Gem of a Challenge #149 - Birthday Wishes

Well, I must get busy.  I'm off to Olive Garden for lunch with 2 dear friends.  It's our semi-annual meet.  I can't believe we've been friends for over 40 years!

AHSC, H2H & CTMH 7/28/15

Last evening my DH & I accompanied my son and his family to my grandson's last baseball game of the summer season.  On the way, we had a very serious discussion about what kind of store bought cookie was the best.  Oreo Sandwich Cookies was the winner.  And not all the new flavors... lemon, vanilla, birthday cake, peanut butter, mint,....  Everyone's favorite is the original chocolate Oreo sandwich cookie.

And that was the inspiration for this card I made for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #118 and also the Heart 2 Heart "Life is Good" Challenge this week.

I am also entering these challenges:
Top Tip Tuesday Challenge - Bingo  (I've chosen the top row: kraft, embossing & sparkle)

Glitter n Sparkle Challenge #147 - Something that statrts with "b" (browns)
Inkspirational Challenge #87 - Anything Goes with Kraft

Something different

A friend of mine found some cute little lip balm holders on Pinterest, sent me a link and asked if I could make them for her roomie gifts at the CTMH Convention.  I love a good challenge and have plenty of yarn in my stash.

Not bad, with just a picture to go by, huh?  I even let this little guy pose for a photo on my new white sofa.  I haven't even removed the tags yet.

I am entering this in the
Double Click Challenge which has a Disney/Mouse Theme.

************

And this little 2 Cute Ink Monster digi has been colored, fussy cut and floating around on the craft/dining room table for a while.  It was time he found a home.  With the look on his face, he made a perfect card in which to send out a couple of yummy summer recipes.

Challenges:
Di's Digi Designs Challenge - Hand colored image

Hope everyone enjoys a wonderful week-end!

Today is my blog's 3rd anniversary!

Hard to believe that I've been posting to this blog for 3 years.  Check out my very first post in 2012.  The pictures are so blurry.  I only had a vague idea what I was doing.  But I wanted to play in Mojo Monday, and I thought being on a DT would be lots of fun.  I'm happy to say I've achieved both of those things.  Most importantly, I've made a lot of friends.  Thanks to all of you, my 122 registered followers, the many regular readers that aren't registered, all the DT members that stop by to see my cards and the occasional guests.
I so appreciate all of the wonderful comments I've received.
And my DH was worried I wouldn't have anything to do when I retired!

To mark the occasion,
I decided to make an Anniversary Card.
(And I wanted to use the 2 new stamps I won from DRS Designs.)
Since I knew I was using DRS stamps, I stopped by their blog to see what the current challenge was.  As I scrolled through several of the fab posts, I came across one titled Fun Folds.   Sheila, I loved your card so much I just had to CASE it!

Today's challenges:
Art Impressions Challenge #164 - In with the New
Crafty Ribbons Challenge #124 - Anything Goes
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Sparkle and Shine
Word Art Wednesday Challenge #193 - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Build It Up
Top Tip Tuesday - Bingo Challenge (from lower left to upper right diagonally:ribbon, sentiment, sparkle)

Life is a Highway

Sometimes it's clear sailing on the Highway of Life...
Card #1

And occasionally you hit a pothole.

Card #2
Card #2 inside

Both cards use mostly all CTMH products.   I can't believe I have no vehicle stamps, other than a sleigh if that even counts as a vehicle, from CTMH.  So I've used cars from a Sparkle N Sprinkle stamp set and one of their sentiments stamps on the front of the second card.  I also used a Fiskars corner punch on the inside of the get well card.

Challenges for Card #2:
Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Life is a Highway
Word Art Wednesday Challenge #193 - Anything Family Friendly Goes
Inky Chicks Challenge #54 - Use a Metal Embellishment (Blue corner pieces)
Eclectic Ellapu July Challenge - Travel (Pink Team)

Travel safely.

Fundraiser Digi + CTMH Card Class 7/21/15

There are a lot of prayers being said for Debbie Lynch, (mother of Heather Dennis, owner of Fresh Brewed Designs) who is undergoing surgery today for a rare form of cancer.
Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.
If you'd like to know more about the fundraising effort to help with medical costs, you can read about it here.

I've used one of the special fundraiser digis, Sunny Day with Friends, to make this sweet card:

I've been meaning to send a card to a family member who is also undergoing cancer treatments.  So here's a card, featuring a Fresh Brewed Designs digi, Latte Awareness, for her:
Challenges into which this card has been entered are:
Word Art Wednesday Challenge #193 - Anything Family Friendly Goes
Inky Chicks Challenge #54 - Use a Metal Embellishment (I've got 5 at the top and 5 more at the bottom.)
Shopping Our Stash Challenge #211 - Don't get stressed, get de-stressed (Making cards is how I destress.  A nice iced coffee helps, too.)
*Praying all goes well with Debbie's surgery today.

***************
I'm surprised we got any cards made yesterday.
Why?
Because Joyce had the NEW Close to My Heart Catalogs!
Eventually, we did get down to business and made these 4 cards.

I wish I could have 1 of everything in the new catalog!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Today I loaded the CTMH Artbooking Cartridge into the cricut to cut a bunch of little hexagons.  Then, I used 6 different stamp sets and 6 different stamp pads to stamp them and distress the edges.  All so I could enter the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #117 and the Color My Heart Color Dare # 151.
And now I can't find the tiny bee stamp.  :>(

Sometimes Mojo is hard to find...

...and this morning was one of those times.
Usually I look at the Mojo Monday Sketch and my mind immediately picks out a stamp or paper that would be perfect.  Today I looked at the sketch and got nada, nothing, zilch.  I started rummaging through a box of stamps and came across a Sweet & Sassy set, Birds and Roses, that I had bought a while ago but hadn't used yet.  And after looking at the various sentiments in the set, 7 of them to be exact, I decided I could make a lovely card for Mrs. B, my BFF's mother.  Once I decided that, the mojo started flowing and it was easy peasy from there.
The scalloped circles are Cricut cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge, the smallest has been popped.  There is clear Wink of Stella glitter on the roses, but it doesn't show in the photo.  All the edges have been distressed.  I used my favorite SU Sizzix embossing folder on the blue dp and another Darice embossing folder on the white cs behind it.  Then I simply finished the card with 3 tiny white pearls on the side.

I am entering this card in the following:

Stamplorations July Challenge - Stamps & Distressing
Let's Craft and Create Challenge #103 - Butterflies or Birds

 *****************
BTW, for those of you who follow my blog regularly and are waiting to hear how the boys made out in the tournament this week-end, they took home 2nd place trophies.  I don't know how the boys played 2 games in that heat!  After the game my grandson came up to us with a big smile and said, "I am really dirty!"  And he was!!!!

72 hr. challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs

Yesterday I received an email from Gerda Steiner Designs announcing a 72 hr challenge and a link to download this adorable digi image free.  Since my grandson's baseball games were moved from 4 & 6 to 6 & 8 due to early morning thunderstorms, I had some extra time to make this card.
I was  tired of coloring and decided to just paper piece everything.  I have a box with card fronts just waiting for the right image, and this one looked perfect.  The evenly spaced paper piercing was done on the sewing machine without thread.  I added a bit of faux stitching around the die cut.  And the sentiment is a CTMH stamp.

I am adding this card to the following challenges:
Crafty Friends Challenge #10 - Use a punch (The top and bottom striped borders were made with the leftover strip created when I use one of my border punches.  Waste not.)
Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge - Bright Colors
Polkadoodles Challenge Week 29 - 2 or more Patterned Papers
Digi Galore July Challenge - Summery and Bright

Once again my grandson's team has advanced to the final game of this week-end's tournament.
I have 2 hours before we head back to the ball field.  (We were already there for a 9am game earlier this morning.)  We are all hoping they collect a 1st place trophy this week.  I'll let you know tomorrow when I post my Mojo Monday card.

Fresh Brewed Designs Blog Hop

Currently underway at Fresh Brewed Designs is a Digis for Debbie Fundraiser Blog Hop.  Everyone is invited to join and to help with the fundraiser for Debbie Lynch, FBD's Heather Dennis's mother who is being treated for a rare form of cancer.  There are special fundraiser digis available for you to use if you want to join the hop. The theme is Anything Goes.  Sales of the digis will help defray medical expenses for Debbie.
I've chosen to use this cute little digi Sunny Day with Friends.
I colored the flowers and leaves with markers.  The rest of the digi is paper pieced.  Eyes, butterfly and bee heads and antennae are done with black liquid pearls.   The raised image was cut out with a spellbinders die.  The sentiment is a CTMH stamp.  Both were lightly distressed around the edges.  And I finished it off with a strip of washi tape and ribbon.
Besides adding this card to the Fundraiser Blog Hop for Debbie
I am submitting it to these challenges:
Sweet Stampin Challenge - No Designer Paper
Crafting with Friends Challenge #2 - Anything Goes
Jo's Scrap Shack Fun Friday Challenge #97 - Emboss and distress
Sister Act Card Challenge #115 - Always Anything Goes
Aud Sentiments Challenge #136 - Anything Goes with a sentiment

All caught up with Catch the Bug (Fri)

What a fun week of challenges at the Christmas in July event at Catch the Bug!  I can't believe I got all of the challenges finished and used a Bugaboo image on every one.
I used last week's freebie for today's final Friday Challenge, Pick a Present...

And since my sewing machine is still out on the table, I chose the blue present on the far right side: Ribbon, Image and Stitching.
Here are the challenges this card to which this card was submitted:
Whimsy Inspirations Challenge #85 - Christmas in July
Deep Ocean Challenge #108 - Christmas in July
Come and Get It Challenge - Christmas in July
The Ribbon Girls Challenge - Everything Goes with an Image
Crafty Calendar Challenge - Christmas in July

Now that I have my Christmas stash out from under the bed, maybe I'll work on doing my cards early this year.  (Like I haven't said that before!)

Catching up with Catch the Bug (Thurs)

Today Catch the Bug has a fun Photo Challenge for their Christmas in July Event.

Here's my card with a bugaboo penguin on the beach:
I made this card much more difficult than it should have been, all by gluing the seagulls down before stamping the sentiment.  Unfortunately, I used a glue that doesn't come undone with Undo which left that tiny space in which to stamp.  I thought I had a stamp that said 'Warm Christmas Wishes'.  When I found the stamp, it actually said 'Warm Winter Wishes".  That didn't suit me.  So I needed to combine 2 CTMH stamps...
First I put tape over the word winter, inked the stamp, removed the tape and stamped Warm Wishes on the card.  Then I did the same with the second stamp, covering the Merry, removing the tape, and stamping.   Normally, this is when I would mess up the card, but I surprised my self and it came out fine.
Thanks for the thumbs up Poppi Penguin.

Poppi is going to make appearances at the following challenges:
Catch the Bug Christmas in July Challenge - Thursday Photo Challenge
Daring Cardmakers Challenge - Christmas in July
