Graduation time

Other than making something for the

Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge # 503

I had no real plans for today's card.  But after I chose the papers, stamped the butterfly first on cs and then on green velum, fussy cut it,  popped it on the inside oval, chose the stick-on 'take flight' sentiment,  and added the bow, it occurred to me that it would make a nice graduation card for a certain young lady who will soon be receiving her nursing degree.

All it needed was the "Congratulations"

The oval dies are by Spellbinders and the word die by Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The butterfly stamp was a freebie by Sheena Douglas from a Quick Cards magazine.  The take flight sticker was a freebie that came with my last order from Stamplorations.  Gotta love those freebies!

This is the sketch from TSOT that I was following:

The Design Team for Try Stampin' On Tuesday Challenge really did an outstanding job with their sample cards this week.  Several are fancy folds.  If I hadn't visited one of their blogs, I never would have known that one of the cards is actually a gate fold.  So, if you have some time, I'd suggest making a few visits and collecting a few tips from this talented group.

Additional Challenges:

Through the Craft Room Door Week of April 27th - AG; Paper Minutes Challenge #689 - Butterflies; Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - AG; The House That Stamps Built Challenge - AG; Addicted to Stamps Challenge #404 - Any Occasion

More Mojo

Sometimes the best remedy for a stressful day is a bit of crafting.  Luckily, I had just enough time before starting dinner, to make a second Mojo Monday card.   Once again using a Stampers Anonymous Crazy Bird stamp, Graduation sentiment from DRS Designs, "Bravo" CTMH stamp, this card features more greens and browns, the forest colors requested in the current DRS Challenge.

Challenges:
DRS Designs Thursday Challenge #227 - Inspired by Color

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #449 -

Crafting From The Heart Challenge #113 - Always Anything Goes
Craft Your Passion Challenge #313 - Always Anything Goes
Di's Digi Designs Challenge - For the Boys

That's the last post for today.  But be sure to come back tomorrow for some Tuesday Throwdown Challenge inspiration.

Early Bird Mojo Monday Card

Using a combination of stamps from Taylored Expressions, DRS Designs*, CTMH, and Stampers Anonymous, papers from CTMH, punches, an ODBD die, and some CTMH shimmer trim, my Mojo Monday card is ready for posting.

*(The Graduation sentiment is from DRS and you can find it  here.)

Think this would be suitable for my son who is receiving a Doctorate in Education?

Challenges I am entering this morning are:

613 Avenue Create Challenge #177 - Anything Goes w/ Make Your Own Challenge twist (A2 card; Graduation; Gold)

Well, I'm happy I got my Mojo finished early.  Lots on the agenda today.  At least the sun is shining.

Graduation Banners + CTMH Workshop 5/29/15

Next to lime green, yellow is my favorite color to combine with navy blue.  For this CAS card I've used up some scraps (plenty more where they came from), added a few Woodstock graduation puffies, and a sentiment from CTMH.

Challenges:

Yesterday I went to Joyce's for a 10 card workshop that she had designed using the CTMH Blossom Paper and the coordinating Complements sticker pack.  Joyce really had some clever ways of using almost every sticker in the 2 sheet pack!

Here are 5 of the cards we made:

I'll show you the rest another day.

T & S Mojo Makeovers

The last week of the month Mojo Monday always has a Tall & Skinny Sketch.  I often convert the card front to a regular A2 card after the challenge.  Here are a few examples:

Once again, today's sketch #386 at Mojo Monday is tall and skinny.

I've made a graduation card using CTMH stamps.

I don't know if this T&S card will remain this way.  I'm thinking  I might turn it into a gift card holder.

Have a wonderful day!

I'm excited because we are headed to Tampa today to visit the cats at Big Cat Rescue.

Practicing my shabby chic style + CTMH Workshop 4/1/14

After Easter last year, I found this bunny silhouette on clearance somewhere.  I thought I could use it to practice my shabby chic style.  First I stamped it with versamark and then used some SNS antiquities embossing powder to heat emboss it.  I did the same with the CTMH sentiment.  I drug the edges of the sentiment piece and top of the pink DP through the versamark pad and lightly embossed that as well.  The rest of the card pretty much self explanatory.  The flowers were in some blog candy I recently won.   My daughter picked up an old jar filled with old buttons for me at an online yard sale over a year ago and these happened to match perfectly.  I threaded them with a bit of twine and then made a tiny twine bow, too.

So how did I do with the shabby chic thing?  I'm looking for helpful hints.  Looking at the card now, I think it could use some distressing or embossing along the punched border edges and maybe a bit on the flowers.

I am entering this card in these challenges:
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes
2 Cute Ink Challenge #103 - Anything Goes
Crafty Cardmakers #113 - You've Been Framed
Sparkle N Sprinkle April Challenge - Anything Goes with glitter, embossing powder or flock
Scribble and Scrap Challenge #15 - Always Anything Goes

Here are the cards we made yesterday at Joyce's CTMH card workshop.  The first was a very simple card and the second was not so simple the first time, but the next one won't be as confusing.  Our question is, when you send a fancy fold card like this one, or the card in a box, and even an easel fold - how do the recipients know how to open and put it together for display?  Do you include instructions?

Today is our pinochle day.  Last month the boys beat Aunt Bess and I all 3 games.  Hope our luck is better this afternoon.
