Snowflakes for the gals

For Christmas this year
I made crocheted snowflakes for my crafty friends.
Since these are supposed to be dishcloths, I added a bottle of Lemon Grass hand lotion
and tied it up in a neat little bundle with a red bow.
I actually finished my last snowflake just last evening.  I made 10 snowflakes out of 1 big ball of crochet cotton.  But I needed 12.  Luckily, I had a partial skein of white with silver thread through it in my stash to finish up this year's gift project.

I am sharing this at these challenge blogs:
Allsorts Challenge 290/291 - Last Minute Gifts
Crafting for all Seasons Challenge #92 - Anything Christmas but a card
Miriam's Crafting Blog 19th Monthly Challenge - Handmade Gifts
Top Tip Tuesday Challenge - Make Your Own
Not Just Cards Challenge #9 - Anything Goes

It would be wonderful if you could stop by the Pumpkin Spice blog and vote for the card I entered in their Blue & White challenge.  Thank you!!

Christmas Thanks

This little card is already in the mailbox to thank my dear friend on the other side of the country for the lovely gifts she sent to our family.  Using last week's freebie from Bugaboo Digi Stamps, I quickly made this thank you card so everyone could sign it yesterday and I could post it today.

Of course, I'll be entering this in the Catch the Bug December Bingo Challenge using the first column,

Bugaboo image, glitter and player's choice.  With most of my craft supplies tucked away for the holidays and not much time, my choice was quick and easy.
I'm also submitting the card to:
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #291 - Anything Goes
Creative Knockouts Challenge #69 - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday Challenge #353 - Anything Goes

Take a look at this beautiful plate my grandson made for me for Christmas.
Not bad for 8 years old!

It would be wonderful if you could stop by the Pumpkin Spice blog and vote for the card I entered in their Blue & White challenge.  Thank you!!

It's almost time!

Making cards for men is often difficult. * If you need some inspiration, all you need to do is visit Cindy Groh's blog, Cre8tive Cindy, and check out her Manly Monday posts.  This week she was kind enough to feature one of my cards.  Thank you, Cindy.
And she's made a wonderful clock card as her own contribution.

Speaking of clocks, by this time tomorrow my house will be in bedlam as my grandchildren tear open gifts in less time than it took to wrap them.  Hopefully the weather will be nicer so we can send them outside with their new pogo sticks.  It is so terribly dreary here today, rain, fog and general yuck!  I delivered Christmas cookies to my neighbors and came home drenched.  I only have a few simple things to wrap, those that the mailman delivered just today.  So I finally have a handle on the holiday.

*My DH just looked over my shoulder, started reading the post and said "doing anything for men is difficult".
His exact words, I swear!

I came across a card I received last year and decided I could quickly upcycle the image for the current Blue & White challenge at Pumpkin Spice.  All my crafting stuff has been temporarily relocated so I could use the dining room table tomorrow.  I did manage to find enough items, DP, dazzles and ribbons, to make this card.

I am submitting this card to:
Get Creative Challenges #4 - Blue, White, Silver
Challenge Up Your Life Challenge #4 - Christmas without Christmas Stamps
Fussy & Fancy Challenge - Snowflakes and Ribbon

Break's over, my tea is cold, I must return to last minute preparations.  TTFN

It would be wonderful if you could stop by the Pumpkin Spice blog and vote for this card, which I entered in their Blue & White challenge.  Thank you!!

Another Mojo Monday Card?

Usually I only do multiple Mojo Monday cards when it's the first challenge of the month to increase my chances of winning (winning a set of Verve stamps is on my bucket list).  This week I wanted to make a special card for a friend so I used the mojo sketch and made this card....
(Stamps, ink and paper are CTMH)

Then I realized I couldn't post this on my blog or my friend would see it before she got it in the mail.  So I made another Mojo card which I posted on Monday.  But it is safe to post this one now because, after seeing the sketch at Atlantic Hearts Challenge, I made my friend another card which I know she will love.  I'll post that one later this week for you to see, too.

This card has been entered in the following:
Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #377
Crafty Sentiments Designs Challenge - Anything Goes
Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge - Anything Goes
Loves Rubber Stamps Challenge #131 - Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door Dec 23rd Challenge - Anything Goes
Craft-Dee Bowz December Challenge - Anything Goes
Sparkle n Sprinkle December Challenge - Anything Goes (Both the ornament and sentiment have been clear embossed.)
The Paper Girls Challenge #70 - Ornaments
Vintage Stamping Challenge #27 - A Christmas Song ("Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas")
Addicted to Stamps Challenge #94 - Anything Goes Christmas
Opus Gluei Challenge #198 - Christmas
Pile It On Challenge #49 - Anything Goes

Mojo Monday #377

With Christmas just days away, we'll all be celebrating the New Year shortly thereafter.  They say, and I have no idea who 'they' are, that whatever you do on New Year's Day you'll be doing all year.  I generally clean the old condiments out of the refrigerator.
But once a year is enough of that!

Using the January stamp from a CTMH calendar set, here is today's Mojo Monday card.

I am submitting this card to these challenges:
Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #377:

Digi Sketch December 22nd Challenge - Winter Snowflakes
Love to Create Challenge #147 - Icy Winter Days
Monday Morning Challenge - Christmas or Winter
613 Avenue Create Challenge #103 - Anything Goes + twist (Snowflake)
Delicious Doodles Challenge #115 - Happy New Year

I think I need professional help!

So...
After a banner day of cookie baking yesterday, I set out to make the remainder of my Christmas cookies this morning.  First, I made a yummy batch of chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips.  Next I made a batch of batter for the peanut butter cookies with a hershey kiss on top, one of my DH's favorites.  I've seen numerous recipes for these, but I think I've found the easiest and yummiest one.  With one tray of cookies in the oven, I began removing the foil wrappers from the hershey kisses.
Then it hit me, this foil would
"look good on a card"

I began unwrapping the kisses a bit more carefully because the foil is thin and tears easily.  When the cookies were all done baking with the hershey kisses placed on top, I headed to my craft table while they cooled and the kisses solidified again.

I carefully spread out the gold striped foils.  Next I applied adhesive to a sheet of CS and attached the foils.
Cut to size, I embossed the foil.
I thought this CTMH sentiment stamp was perfect for a card that actually smells like chocolate.   Won't it be great to accompany one of the cookie trays I distribute to my neighbors?
The unfortunate part of this story is that my brainstorm put an end to today's cookie baking.

I'll enter this in a few challenges and then I'll share my recipe with you below.
Pile it On Challenge #49 - Anything Goes Christmas/Holidays
Scrapbook Blessings Club December Linky Party - Anything Goes Happy Holidays
QKR Stampede Challenge #118 - Lots of Layers
Completely Christmas Challenge #43 - Anything Goes with a Twist of Your Own (Recycling)

Peanut Butter Kisses
1 jar (18oz) creamy peanut butter
1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
2 large eggs
48 hershey kisses, unwrapped (9 oz bag)
Preheat over to 350.  Combine first 3 ingredients until well blended.  Dough will be sticky.  With floured hands, toll 1 Tbl. of dough into a 1 1/4 inch ball (walnut size).  Place 1 1/2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 12-14 minutes until cookie dries and starts to crack.  Remove from oven and immediately press hershey kiss into top of cookie.  Allow to cool on cookie sheet 1 to 2 minutes and then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

And now, I must finish addressing my Christmas cards so they can at least be postmarked before Christmas.

CTMH Christmas

Slowly but surely!

I mailed half my Christmas cards today and baked 7 kinds of cookies.  My brother, who is very allergic to nuts, is visiting from out of state today.  So I only baked those that wouldn't send him to the hospital.  Tomorrow the cookies with nuts and peanut butter  and the rest of the cards are on my agenda.

(All CTMH stamps and papers)

Earlier this month I pulled out just 2 sheets of this double sided DP and one sheet of matching CS and I'm making cards with it until there is no more.  This is the 4th one I've posted so far.

While dinner finishes cooking, I have time to enter a few challenges:
QKR Stampede Challenge #118 - Lots of Layers
Cards in Envy Challenge - Christmas Carols (We Wish You a Merry Christmas)

Holiday Birthdays

Due to my current push to get our Christmas cards finished and mailed, anyone who happens to have a birthday at this time will likely get a red and green card made from the scraps on the table.  Since golfers spend a good bit of time on the greens anyway, I think this is fairly apropos!
(stamps by Art Impressions)
I am entering this card in the following:
Wonderful Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
Stampotique Designers Challenge #176 - Anything Goes
Scrapper's Delights Challenge #37 - Anything Goes
Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge #208 - Anything Goes
The Paper Shelter Challenge - Anything Goes
Divas by Design Challenge - Anything Goes
Sparkles Forum Challenge #63 - Anything Goes
Clear It Out Challenge - Anything Goes (everything came from my stash)
Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes
Loves Rubber Stamps Challenge #131 - Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes

Today I also have the last of my Progressive Challenge cards to show you.

This is for Digi Stamps 4 Joy December Challenge using their digi image We Three Kings.  They added an Add Bling twist to this challenge so I've used some corner dazzles and great gold glitter tape to bling up the gold BG paper.

And last but certainly not least, yesterday I introduced my great-granddaughter to Nana's can of cookie cutters.  They have entertained all my grandchildren and now Laila, too.

I know she will be inundated with toys for Christmas, but Fisher Price can't begin to compete with a noisy can of easy to hold, plastic shapes and colors.  Some of these old tupperware cookie cutters are probably collectors items by now.

And I also have a card for Challenge #21 - Christmas at East Wind using the using the freebie image found in this month's newsletter, Lala's Merry Christmas, which is available to all who subscribe.

Do you wanna build a snowman?

This cute snowman image, Olaf from the movie Frozen, was this month's free image for the Progressive Challenge at Sassy Studio Designs on Facebook.  I took the 2 sentiments supplied and rotated them in all directions to create the blue BG paper which was layered between 3 different sheets of glitter paper.

I think this fun fellow would be happy entered in the following challenges:
Robyn's Fetish Challenge #242 - Winter Cards with Glitter
Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge - Winter Fun 4 Kids

Mojo on the run

Lots of things to do today.
Here's a quick post with my Mojo Monday card.
Hopefully I'll be back later to add it to a few challenges.
(Using CTMH papers and stamp.)

Have a great day everyone!

I am entering this card

LTSCB Challenge #44 When Nature Calls

Today starts a new challenge, When Nature Calls,  at the Love to Scrap Challenge Blog.
For this challenge you'll need to feature something on your project that's found in nature - living or inanimate. I decided to feature snowflakes and butterflies on my DT card using a digi stamp called Snowflake Butterfly from Stitchy Bear's Digi Outlet, the sponsor of the challenge.

I hope you'll join us for the current challenge at Love to Scrap, check out the projects made by my teamies,
leave them a little love and
be sure to stop by Stitchy Bear's Digi Outlet
for a great selection of  digis.

It's time!

to stop making Christmas cards and start baking Christmas cookies!  But, I just had to finish up the 2nd Annual Holiday Chaos at Catch the Bug.

Today's challenge is a Clean and Simple one using the Friday freebie from Bugaboo Stamps, Christmas Gingers Bells.

Thanks so much to Bugaboo Digi Stamps for a year of wonderful Friday Freebies and a fantastic selection of easy to use digital stamps and for their generous sponsorship of so many challenges.  And another big thank you to Catch the Bug Challenge Blog and their designers for all the fun challenges, and inspirational cards and projects.

Penguin in a Pot

The inside of this card reads:

AS SEEN ON TV....
Tired of that Elf on the Shelf ?
For a limited time only
Share the Christmas Season
with a Penguin in a Pot!

Bugaboo's 2nd Annual Holiday Chaos Wednesday Challenge at Catch the Bug is looking for humor.  This poor penguin (Poppi Xmas Tree) doesn't appear to think his holiday job is very humorous.

Merry Christmoose!

This Bugaboo digi image, Make It Snappy Merry Christmoose, makes a cute holiday card for Moose Lovers and is my entry for Thursday's Critter Challenge at Catch the Bug's 2nd Annual Holiday Chaos.

Color Chaos at Catch the Bug

Monday's Challenge for the

is a color challenge using this group of colors:

I'm thinking that if JJ (Bugaboo image JJ Xmas Cheer) had some schnapps to go that candy cane she'd look a lot more merry!  Or perhaps, she's already had too much!

Jo's Scrap

The sketch challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack caught my eye. You just have to love those quick, simple cards that use up scraps!

So for  Fun Friday Challenge #68...

Cookies + CTMH Card Workshop 12/9/14

There are still several more days of Holiday Chaos at Catch the Bug.  I'm trying my best to get all 7 challenges completed.  Today I have a card for Tuesday's Challenge - 1 image, 2 of something (designer papers), and 3 of something else (little red sticker dots).

I've been making Christmas cookies as gifts since I was a young bride.  At one time I was making over 20 different kinds.  Although I've cut back on the variety, the day before Christmas you'll still find me distributing cookies to my friends and neighbors.

The sentiment stamp I've used is one of the first I bought because it seemed so perfect for me.  Then when Bugaboo came out with this digi image, Dottie-cookie tray, it was the perfect accompaniment.

************

Our CTMH workshop this week yielded 4 Christmas cards.  Joyce always gives us a lot of room to personalize our cards and projects.
So we each add our own little touches.  I must admit that I came home and added a few stickers to 2 of them.

Chaos at Catch the Bug

Bugaboo's Second Annual Holiday Chaos at Catch the Bug is in full swing.  Here is my card for Sunday's sketch challenge:
(I've used Ava Christmas the Mistletoe Fairy Digi Image from Bugaboo Digi Stamps.)

Here's the challenge sketch I followed:
christmas ch sketch

I'll also enter this card in these challenges:
Crafty Sentiments Designs Challenge - Christmas
Cuttlebug Mania Challenge - Anything Christmas (I've used a cuttlebug embossing machine with a Cuttlebug EF.)
Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge - Anything Goes Christmas
Just Inspirational Challenges - Anything with Wings
Paperminutes Challenge #251 - Upcycling (The green paper with the pine branch was actually a holiday advertisement from Dick's Sporting Goods Store.  I probably won't use the discount coupons that were attached, but the paper came in handy.)
Shopping Our Stash Challenge #180 - Favorite Technique (I've used 2 of my favorites, embossing and using something not necessarily meant for a card, which is the green paper from an ad.  That's how I named my blog.)
