Double Trouble Challenge #47

The sisters at Double Trouble Challenge are probably wondering I am.  It's one of my favorite challenges and I rarely miss entering.
For Challenge #47, I've used a Gerda Steiner stamp set.  The cute penguin image was stamped on glitter paper, colored with markers and then fussy cut.

Check out the holographic paper, new from CTMH.  One way it looks almost orange.  Another angle and it looks green.

To satisfy the challenge requirements, I decided to use a dry embossing folder with a quilted pattern.  There's nothing like a snuggley quilt on a cold winter day.

Double Trouble's partner for this challenge is Stinkin' Inkers Challenge where the theme is Warm Up.
My mother still scolds me if I'm out in the cold without a hat.  It was definitely a bone of contention when I was a teen and didn't want to flatten my hair.  But, I will admit that a hat does help keep you warm.

Additional challenges I am entering:
 COME JOIN US...
As You Like It Challenge - Anything Goes
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #540 - Anything Goes
2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge - Anything with a critter goes
Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Cutting It Close (I fussy cut the penguin and die cut the circles)
Gerda Steiner Share Your Designs Challenge - Jan 2020 - AG with a GSD image

Beccy's Place July Challenge

This month Beccy's Place has a wonderful, free, digi image that I knew would make some lovely cards.  I downloaded it, opened it in paint, resized it, and hit print.  Guess I should have saved it first because what printed was way too big for a card.  My second attempt was much better and the image was ready to color.  I used pencils and a clear Wink of Stella brush to blend the colors and give the flowers a bit of sparkle.
But I wasn't about to waste the large image I had printed,
at least not all of it.

Challenges:
Beccy's Place July Challenge - AG with an image from Beccy's Place (I didn't use the twist of CASEing myself.)
Aud Sentiments Challenge #231 - Bingo + a sentiment ( I used the diagonal row from bottom left to upper right: Ribbon, Digi, Die Cut.)

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #521 - Ribbon and Sparkle (Image covered in clear Wink of Stella, sorry it doesn't show in the photo.)

My last Wednesday with Great Impressions Stamps

It's officially summer.
That often mean vacation visits from friends and relatives.
This would be a lovely way to thank someone for their visit .

I've used the Daisy Flourish Stamp (E702)
and the  So Wonderful Sentiment Stamp (E805).

It's been so much fun being on the Design Team for Great Impressions Stamps Challenge.
I hope you've enjoyed the cards I've made using Great Impressions Stamps as much as I've enjoyed making them.

There's still time to enter the June Challenge.
for a chance to win this prize.

Have a great day!

Mojo Made to Order

Today's Mojo Monday Sketch Contest # 435 Card features a digi stamp called Cup Kitty 1 from Sami Stamps Etsy Shop.  I found the printed digi is my mini vacation stash and, luckily, today's Mojo sketch was perfect for using it.

(Papers and charm are SU; sentiment is CTMH)
As soon as I enter this in a few more challenges, I am headed back to Sami's shop for the adorable bunny in a cup.

June Challenge at Beccy's Place

Beccy's Place has always been one of my favorite blogs.  She has this great list of different card folds, one of my favorite techniques, and wonderful tutorials to go with many of them.  Beccy also has great digi images, some of which are available in clear stamps.  Here is a card I made for her June Anything Goes Challenge
This digi is called Gran's Summer Chair and is available as a single image or in the Gran's Chair Set,  with wonderful sentiments.  I love the soft green of this precolored image.  The simple "Miss You!" stamp is from CTMH.

Clear it Out Challenge - Anything Goes; Stash Item - you choose (The blue flowers were the last in a package.)
Digi Choosday Challenge - Use Kraft Card  (base is kraft with corners rounded)

Doodle Pantry Challenge

My mother and I went to a local craft show today.  Several crafters had wonderful homemade cards.  It just  put me in the mood for getting out paper and glue.

I've used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches Challenge # 169

and a digital image from Doodle Pantry.  The current Doodle Pantry challenge, Ants in the Pantry Digital Challenge #1, has a Milk Theme with an option to use buttons or brads.  And, just for fun, I decorated the envelope, too.

I'll also submit this to the following challenges:
The House That Stamps Built DCC#114 - Brown, Black and White
Top Tip Tuesday Challenge - Keep It Simple (Since I'm on the road,  I only have a few supplies.  I picked up a pack of buttons for this card, but I used dental floss to thread it. The wax on the floss makes it easy to thread through the holes and the bow stays in place nicely.)

Snowbird

Right now I'm a snowbird, having traveled south away from the cold.  As I listen to the weather in Pennsylvania I am so happy I'm not there.  Snow.  Ice.  Bitter Cold.  Not my favorite things!

With that in mind, here is my card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #90 this week using CTMH Heartstrings Paper and January's Digi, Little Snowman, for the From Your Heart Progressive Challenge.

I'm also going to enter this in these fun challenges:
Sweet 7 Challenge #9 - Anything New (I've used my new glitter brush on the snowman's hat and just got the gems yesterday. I can't believe I left home without some bling!)
Love to Scrap Challenge #45 - Use something starting with one of these letters: LTSCB (Layers, Tape, Snowman, Cardstock, Bling)
Allsorts Challenge Week 293 - New and cute (This snowman digi is both new and cute!)

Now it's time for a walk in the 70 degree sunshine!

Going Knots

Scraps, scraps, and more scraps.  When you love paper like I do, it's hard to part with the scraps.  I have a drawer filled with little baggies of color coordinated scraps.  And I have a lovely glass canister filled with ribbon and twine scraps, too.  I have a stack of card fronts already made using up scraps.  As the scraps get smaller, I make notecards, bookmarks and tags.  Here's just one example of how knotty I can get about using scraps!

I'll be entering this card in the following challenges:
Hiding in My Craft Room Challenge #182 - Super Scraps Saturday
Crafty Ribbons Challenge - Let's Get Sentimental
Clear It Out Challenge - Anything Goes w/ stash item AG  (It's all from my stash.)
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends Challenge #1 - Anything Goes

Good Morning My Friends

It's the first Monday in the New Year.  Maybe 2015 will bring me some luck when it comes to winning the Mojo Monday Contest.  I'm working with limited supplies right now, but couldn't start the week without making and posting a Mojo Monday card.  I broke my Cuttlebug right before Christmas.  I did order a new one, and I definitely would have used it to give some more texture to the background of this card.  The things you miss!
I used a 6x6 pad of colorbok papers in grays, blacks and beiges for this card and a CTMH sentiment stamp.  The paper ribbon and bow is the best I could do right now.  After I laid the card on a red folder to snap the picture, I thought the sentiment would have been pretty in a bright red ink.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

A Gem of a Challenge - Something New (the papers are new)
Sweet Stampin Challenge - New (paper)
ABC Challenge - A is for Anything Goes
Cards Galore Encore Challenge - Anything Goes
Country View Challenge - Use something new (paper)
Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge for January - Anything Goes
Seemacrafts January Challenge - Anything Goes
Moo-Mania & More Challenge - Polka Dots

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday Throwdown Mellow Yellow

My DT card was almost finished.  But it just needed "something".
I decided to punch some flowers in the bottom corner of the card.  Big mistake.  That punch latched onto the paper and just wasn't letting go!
Good thing I keep this baby close by.  Just one good smack and it opened right up.

Card saved!

The challenge theme this week at Tuesday Throwdown is Mellow Yellow.
Your projects need to be mostly yellow.
Our very generous sponsor for this challenge is Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and more.
The Robyn's Fetish digi I used is called Over da wall Puppy.

It reminds me of Freckles, a mixed breed dog I bought for 27 cents when I was a teen.  He was the smartest dog.  Each Thursday a local butcher visited our house in his meat truck and he always had a bone for Freckles.  Before stopping at our house, the butcher made a stop at a house down the hill.  You could easily see his truck in their driveway from our front yard.

I had trained Freckles not to leave our yard, and he never  did. There were no invisible fences or electronic collars 50 years ago.  I walked that dog around and around our property line until he knew the boundaries and stayed inside them.

Now on a Thursday we would say to Freckles, "The butcher's coming. The butcher's coming."    He would head for the corner of the front yard and wait for that truck, never budging, for as long as it took.  When the butcher's truck came into view, Freckles came to attention, watching and waiting as the neighbor got her meats, never leaving his post.  At last the truck would begin to back out of the drive and turn to come to our house.  Freckles would race to the lower part of our yard, no further, and run up the yard beside the butcher truck, leaping first off a 3 ft. wall heading down the yard and then back up over the wall  to meet the butcher and collect his bone at the front sidewalk.

Getting back to business....

I hope you'll visit the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge Blog to see the other wonderful projects my teammates have made to inspire you and the Robyn's Fetish shop to see all the fab things available there.  We'd love for you to join us for Challenge #207 - Mellow Yellow.

(The sentiment is a CTMH stamp.)
Here's a card for the Red, White and Blue Challenge at Loves Rubberstamps.  I have lots of scraps leftover from making all my patriotic cards last week.  That's what happens when you use a 6x6 paper pad to make A2 cards... lots of 1/2" strips leftover.

Check out my great-granddaughter, Laila, almost 5 months old already.  She's putting everything in her mouth right now.
She tried this watermelon, and it had to be pried from her chubby little hands.

She makes my heart smile!

Miss You by Meljen's

I wasn't going to do a second post today until I realized the current challenge (#217) at Meljen's Designs, Button it Up, closes in 16 hours.  Since Meljen's Designs is sponsoring our challenge at Tuesday Throwdown this week, I wanted to also support their challenge.   I've used a Meljen's digi, Miss You Birdie, which is available here.  I found these tiny wood buttons in my stash and, after sewing them onto the card with a very thin needle, I added a few long stitches across the top.

If you get a moment, hop over to Tuesday Throwdown and check out the cute utensil holders and pom pom ants some very clever crafters entered in our "Let's Have a Picnic" challenge.  Then grab a watermelon, hot dog, picnic basket .......
stamp and join the fun.

Tuesday R/W/B + CTMH Workshop 7/1/14

This week I am having my own personal July 4th Celebration.  I'm making all my cards Red, White and Blue and putting them in the box to send to Operation Write Home.

Once upon a time, I stamped this image and didn't use it.  It was buried in a pile of stuff I recently went through.  Now there's one less thing on that pile.  To complete the card I've used a corner punch, oval punch, corner rounder, ribbon, baker's twine, brads, red glitter gel, light blue Prismacolor marker, and a CTMH sentiment.

I am entering this card in the following:
Cards Galore Encore Challenge - Use a stamp or digi stamp
Crafty Hazelnut's July Patterned Paper Challenge
One Sweet Challenge - July: Red, White and Blue
Loves Rubber Stamps Challenge - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesday Challenge #179 - Red, White and Blue

I was enormously happy to see Gail's smiling face when I got to Joyce's card workshop this afternoon.  Welcome back, Gail!

Here are the cards we made today using Close to My Heart products:

That's it for today.  I just came across a really neat sketch I want to try.  Maybe I can get a card done before it's time for dinner.

Oh, that's right.  There sits the checkbook.  I was going to balance the bank statement when I got home this afternoon.

Not anymore!

Miss You

Buried underneath a plethora of items on my craft (dining room) table, I found scraps of this orange paper.  It didn't take long to turn them into a card, which still needed something.  Then I remembered the striking butterflies Sybilla gave us at class one week.  That finished it, don't you think?

I'm entering this is the following:
Glitter n Sparkle Challenge #54 - Add some orange
2 Sisters Challenge #165 - Anything Goes
Totally Gorjuss Challenge #205 - Wings and Things
Crafty Ribbons Challenge #65 - Butterflies

Flight School in My Backyard

When I came downstairs this morning and looked out the back door, there were 4 sets of mama birds with baby birds flitting around in our tree - cardinals, eastern blue birds, wrens, and downy woodpeckers.  How cute!  Of course, when I got my camera and opened the door
 (as quietly as possible),
they all flapped off, not terribly gracefully.

And my daughter-in-law sent us the cutest pictures of my grandsons on their first school day.

New beginnings.  Ahhhhhh.....

OK - let's get down to business.  It's Mojo Monday!

(stamps are all Close to My Heart)

Just a few challenges for this card:

2 Sisters Challenge #158 - Square Cards

Mojo Monday # 308 : round or square

Playing with Pemberly Paper

Pemberly is one of my favorite paper packs from Close to my Heart.  I was organizing my overflowing paper drawer on Saturday, realized that I haven't used it for a while, and set it aside to make this week's Mojo Monday Card.     Usually I do my MM card first but today I also needed to make a Congratulations card and that should get in the mail asap.  Why not just combine the two, you might ask.  Originally that was my intention, but the Mojo Sketch just wasn't doing it for me right away.
Without further commentary, here is my first card for today:

And here is the sketch and my entry for  Mojo Monday Challenge #302 :

I used the CTMH Cricut Artiste cartridge to cut out the bow and stars.  The stamps are from a CTMH set called For Every Occasion.
(Tip of the Day:  Remember to place the strainer in the sink before washing your stamps.  I bid a sad goodbye to my little "Hi!".)
