Anniversary Mojo Monday

By now, you probably aren't even surprised to see another card on my blog for the current Mojo Monday Sketch 464 Contest.  The last time I checked, there were only 79 entries.  They give 1 prize for every 50 entries.  Come on people!  The odds of winning a set of Verve stamps will be so much better if that number reaches 100.  Certainly, if I make 20 more cards (you can enter as many times as you'd like) my chances are increased.  But, please don't make me do that.  Because, if I didn't win after making all those cards, I would be devastated.
Today I flipped the sketch, and
I used Verve stamps to make this card.
But can you guess what I did not use?

Don't forget to stop by Saturday, September 10th
to see what I made for the
Joyful Stars Close to My Heart September Blog Hop!
It will not be another Mojo Monday card.

Double Pleated Card

It may be a beautiful day in the neighborhood, but it is also a noisy one!  The neighbor above us is building an addition.  Today they are cementing the basement floor which makes for a lot of truck traffic...first the loads of stone for the base and then the cement.
And the neighbor 2 doors down is having the inground pool removed.  Lots of jackhammer noise from that direction.
But, with the AC running, it is relatively quiet in the house...just the way I like it.  I can tune out the constant ringing in my ears and play with paper to my heart's content.

This was a super fun birthday card to make, using a double pleat.  It gives nice dimension to the card without using poppers.  If you look at the lower part of the card, you can see by the faint shadows that the folds of the first pleated layer raise it up about 1/8" from the punched border.  Then the folds of the black flowered layer do the same.

All papers and stamps are from CTMH
The flowers are cricut cuts, then stamped; the scalloped border was punched; top and bottom patterned paper were embossed; the middle papers were scored and pleated; small circle in center of flower was stamped and punched; sentiment circle was punched and double stamped.

Brown Sugar Challenge #215 - Anything Goes

The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge - Pretty, pretty, ribbons
Craft Dee Bowz September Challenge - Anything Goes with a handmade bow

Hope you all enjoy a peaceful day!
(Without the constant beeping of heavy equipment backing up!!!)

Thursday Mojo Monday

Saturday, September 10th, the Joyful Stars Close to My Heart September Blog Hop goes live.  My card for the hop is a new design I had never tried before.  My first attempt was a failure and I had to start again.  Rather than waste the paper I had punched incorrectly, I recycled it to make another Mojo Monday card.  You might think that I really, really, like this week's Mojo sketch.  This is my third Mojo Card.  Actually, I am trying to increase my chances of winning a set of Verve stamps.

The cake stand was stamped on plastic from product packaging.  The close up shows the glitter which was added.
All products used are by CTMH with the exception of the embossing folders used.

Challenges:

Heart 2 Heart September Challenge - Use a CTMH Stamp
Aud Sentiments Challenge #163 - Anything Goes + a sentiment
Unicorn Challenge #13 - Happy Birthday

Don't forget to stop by Saturday, September 10th to see what I made for the Joyful Stars Close to My Heart September Blog Hop!
But, why wait until then?
Come back tomorrow to see a double pleated birthday card.

Imagine That! Mojo Monday

Yesterday I printed up this cute colored digi and a small bit of matching patterned paper, both from Imagine That! Digis by Kris, in anticipation of this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Contest.
This morning all I needed to do was fussy cut the digi image, add some liquid glass to the eyes, cut the sentiment into 3 pieces and attach it to the matching patterned paper, cut and emboss matching cs, add some enamel embellishments and a bow.  And voila' - a quick and easy birthday card.
The digi set is called Owl with Robin.

Challenges I am entering:
Mojo Monday Contest 464

Creative Playground Challenge #8 - Easy as 1,2,3 (I used 1 bow, 2 triangle green enamel squares, and cut the sentiment in 3 pieces.)
A Bit More Time to Craft Challenge #27 - Anything Goes
Doodle Pantry Ants in My Pantry Challenge #21 - Any digital image goes
Crafting When We Can Challenge #127 - Happy Birthday

Have a wonderful day!  Thanks for stopping by.
PS  I love comments!

Down on the Farm with Color Dare Challenge

The Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #209 lists Pear, Sorbet, Pomegranate, Black, White Daisy and Gold as the all and only colors for this week's challenge.  I needed to make a card for my cousin's dad, who still lives on the family dairy farm, although the cows have been gone for a while now.
Here's what I came up with.
Hope he likes it.

(All CTMH products with the exception of the ODBD die cut frame)
This is actually a pop up card.
Here are photos of the inside.

The cow and sentiment are Great Impressions stamps and the cake and candles are Craft Lounge stamps.
And there you have it -
a Pear, Sorbet, Pomegranate, Black, White Daisy and Gold pop up birthday card, which I'll be submitting to the following
challenges:
NBUS Challenge #7 - Anything Goes with Never Before Used Schtuff  (This is the first time I've used the farm, cow, and sentiment stamps.)
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #369 - Embossing  (I used embossing for the resist stamping on the card front)
Polkadoodles Challenge Week 34 - Something beginning with an "f" (Frame, Farm)

Now I think I'll go in search of
some peaches for a cobbler and vanilla ice cream.
No clue what I'm making for dinner tonight,
but dessert I have figured out!

Enjoy your day!

40th Anniversary Card & CTMH Class 8/30/16

Yesterday I promised to post the cards we made on Tuesday at Joyce's CTMH Card Class.
CTMH has just introduced, seaglass, their Color of the Year.
The gals in our group gave seaglass a definite thumbs up!
Look at these amazing cards.
seaglass cardstock with a velum overlay

the birthday is heat embossed

seaglass glitter paper and  watercolor spritzed bg
The die cut words are all new CTMH thinlits.
For this card, we embossed velum to cover the whole card front using a CTMH dot stamp and gold ep.
I just wasn't happy with how my embossing turned out.  When I got home I removed the velum from the top half of the card, embossed it and added a few gold glitter hearts.  Now I am much happier with the card.  And I'll be needing it, too.  There are 4 anniversaries on my calendar this month.

************

My friend, Judie, recently got this beautiful die and cut a bunch for all of us.  Thanks, Judie.

The card is a vertical gatefold, with a small velcro closure.

My college BFF and her DH are celebrating their 40th this year.
According to internet sources, Ruby Red is the official color for 40 years.   My daughter was only 2 1/2 when she was the flower girl in their wedding.  Now my daughter has granddaughter who is 2 1/2! My how time gets away from us.

I used 3 different stamp sets from Verve, Our Daily Bread and Inkadinkadoo.  All the sentiments are heat embossed with SNS white ep.  The cricut cuts are from the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge. The patterned paper and black glitter trim are CTMH products.  And the whole card got a spritz of Sparkle Shimmer Spritz, which doesn't show on the pictures.

Challenges:
Allsorts Challenge Week 378 - Use at least 2 Dies
Come and Get It Challenge - Black and White + One
