Why don't I get blueberries?

Maybe 10 years ago I put in a dozen strawberry plants and I now have a lovely strawberry bed yielding enough strawberries for us to eat and plenty to give away.  Once they got established I got a pair of patio blueberry bushes.  They had been on my patio for years and yielded less than a dozen blueberries between the 2 plants.  I had such luck with those I ordered 3 of the pink lemonade blueberry bushes.  Haven't seen a pink blueberry yet!  I thought maybe they were pot bound so I moved them into the ground.  My daughter said blueberries needed iron to grow, so I gave each plant a rusty nail.  The plants look healthy enough, but no berries.  And why am I telling you about my disappointing blueberry plants?  I have no clue other than to introduce this card.

This cute little mouse nestled in a bowl of blueberries is a digi from Doodle Pantry.  I sized the digi for the card and printed 2 copies, so I could cut pieces  (in this case the bowl and the extra berries on the table) and pop them for a 3D effect, hence the shadows in the photo.

Other than that, it's a fairly simple card.  I used a scalloped circle punch for the sentiment and a border punch for the strip in the center.

Think I'll squeek this little guy into the following challenges:
Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #35 - Anything Goes
Fab N Funky Challenge #173 - For the Girls
Perfect Sentiments Challenge #81 - Make Them Laugh
Songbird Challenge #21 - All Creatures Great and Small

  2. Super cute card - love the blue berries. I too have blueberry bushes that hubby planted a good few years ago. They do well, and I see lots of berries coming - but somehow the birds know when the perfect time for picking is and always get to them (around the corner from the kitchen) before we do!!

  6. That little mouse sure looks happy! I like the patterned paper combo, too. I just finished eating a bowl of store-bought blueberries. Haven't tried to grow my own yet. Good luck with your plants!

  8. Loved your story about the blueberries, but sad you are not getting any. We planted 2 regular blueberry bushes and they have multiplied but over run by other things. I watch them diligently to know when to pick. However, the birds watch them as closely as me. We both fight for them...haha I've tried nets and noise to no avail. At least I have happy birds in my backyard. Ok....to the card....cute cute cute! I recently made a card with this fun image about a week ago. I love Spring and summer and this image is perfect. Thank you for joining us in our June Challenge at Doodle Pantry.
