A Not-So-Quick Card

Last week I received the January Quick Cards magazine in the mail.  On the cover there is a photo of a "Glam New Fold" and inside are instructions for pop-up book cards.  They are gorgeous and I've never seen or made one.  (My followers know how much I love to make folded cards!)
The template supplied in the magazine is for a finished card measuring 14 cm x 14.5 cm.  I prefer to make A2 cards.  So I set out to convert the directions.  This took a bit of time.  OK  It took quite a bit of time.
Once I got a workable template, I began constructing my own book card.  The magazine says their pictured cards took almost an hour to make.  That's not exactly my idea of a quick card.  And since I didn't have a clear picture of how I wanted the finished card to look, it only took me about 2 hours to complete this pop-up book card....

Seeing as how this is a new fold for me, I am entering it in.....
Open Minded Crafting Fun Grand Opening Challenge #1 - Using New Toys or New Techniques.
Dreamtime Design Challenge #3 - New Technique
Heck of a Challenge - New
Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge #77 - Something new
Come and Get It Challenge - Use something new
Heart to Heart Challenge - New Year New Beginning

The papers I used are from a special CTMH packet called Dream Pop which I purchased last year and then never used.   You know how sometimes you buy stuff because it's a good deal and then later ask yourself why you did that?  This was one of those purchases.  So I am also entering the card in the challenges at
Art Impressions Challenge #125 - Expect the Unexpected! Use something from your stash
and also
Our Creative Challenge - No More Shopping Sins.

Plus I am submitting it to these challenges:
ABC Challenge - "C" is for Colorful

Here are some more photos of some of the steps involved in making this very special card.

  1. Wow, Debi - That's beautiful! Well worth your time! Those patterned papers are gorgeous too! Imagine how excited the recipient will be when they open it - it will blow them away.

P.S. I sent you a little something in the mail today - now don't get too excited, it isn't much, but I wanted to let you know it's coming - I think the mail from here takes about 10 days or so.

  19. May not have been too quick, as you thought, but then again you changed the template, so that is time in itself. A great job on it though. Thanks for sharing this new type of pop up card at Come and Get It challenges.
